Title: Miracle From Heaven

Chapter 8

(A few days went by. Drew and Kim were getting the funeral arrangements ready as the day was tomorrow when it'd take place. To say that Drew and Kim weren't ready for the funeral was an understatement. Kim was in tears often as she didn't want the day to come. She knew it had to, but she wanted to prolong it as long as she could. Thankfully, Drew was her strength and he assured her she could lean on him. She felt she leaned on him too much. There were times when he found himself leaning on her. She smiled sadly and reminded him she was there for him, as well)

(Josslyn offered to help out, but they gently told the teen she had enough to deal with. They didn't think it was right for Josslyn to help out on top of mourning. Even when Joss reminded them she was okay, they knew she wasn't. In the end, Josslyn accepted their request and grieved on her own)

***The Next Day***

(It was the day of the funeral. It was at Queen of Angels. There wasn't a dry eye in the building. The casket was at the front of the church with a bunch of flowers next to it. A big picture of Oscar smiling in everyday clothing, showing his perfect whitened teeth)

(People took turns admiring the photo of Oscar before taking a seat in the pews. The casket was closed as Oscar requested. Once everyone was seated, the priest began speaking)

Priest: "It is never easy when you lose a loved one, a member of the family, or a friend. Oscar Nero Quartermaine was a beloved member of the community who enjoyed helping others and asking for nothing in return. Even though his family and friends felt it wasn't his time yet, God felt otherwise. In the end, Oscar accepted his fate and said his final farewells to those he cared about."

(The priest faces Oscar's picture and speaks)

Priest: "Oscar, may you find comfort knowing that your family and friends miss your presence and find the strength to move on. May you also find comfort in knowing that you are loved and treasured."

(The priest looks at everyone and signals for them to come forward and say their respects. The priest has the first row go first. Drew and Kim, who were in the first row along with Julian, get up and walk to the casket next to the picture. Drew goes first. He briefly wipes his eyes and sniffles as he speaks)

Drew: "I hope you know how much you were loved, Oscar. I treasured our time together, although it wasn't enough in the end. There was so much more I wanted to do with you." (tearfully) "I love you, son. That will never change. You'll always be in my heart."

(Drew moves his hand around on the top of the casket, as if he was touching his son's face one more time. He then moves to let Kim go next. Drew couldn't stop the tears from flowing, even though he tried. Kim, on the other hand, was crying profusely. Julian was right there to comfort her and was ready to put his arms around her in case her legs gave out due to despair)

Kim: (crying) "Hi, little man." (tearfully chuckles a bit) "I guess I shouldn't say that. In a few days, you were going to turn 16. You didn't know this, but had you lived just a little bit longer, I was planning a special sweet sixteen birthday party for you. Your close friends and family. I know you've always said you didn't want a big party. As much as I wanted to honor your life, I would have respected that."

(Kim couldn't hold it in any longer. She starts crying harder, causing Julian to put his arms around her shoulders)

Julian: "It's okay, honey. I'm right here."

(Kim turns around and wraps her arms around Julian's neck and breaks down. Drew wanted to help Kim, but he knew that Julian was taking care of her)

Julian: "Come on, sweetie. Let's go sit down."

(Kim sniffles and wipes her eyes before facing her son's picture)

Kim: "I loved you so much, honey. You were my life, my heart, and my angel. You're no longer in pain and with the angels now."

(Kim takes Julian's hand while Drew rests his hand on her shoulder as a way of comfort. Julian looks at Oscars picture)

Julian: "Rest in peace, Oscar. You were loved. I will always treasure when you helped me at my pub."

(Julian, Kim, and Drew walk until they reach their spot on the pew)

(Next it was Carly, Sonny, Jax, and Josslyn's turn. They walk to the casket and sadly sigh before facing Oscar's picture)

Carly: "Rest in peace, Oscar. You were loved and always cared for by others." (sniffles) "My daughter's going to miss seeing your face every day. Please look over her. But I know you will."

(Carly walks away from the picture. Sonny and Jax politely face each other before looking at Oscar's face)

Sonny: "You always treated everyone with respect and took care of others." (sadly nods) "You were an exceptional young man. Thank you for being you, Oscar. You always put Josslyn's needs ahead of your own. For that, I will be forever grateful. May you rest in peace."

(Carly, Sonny, and Jax stand behind Josslyn while she pays her respects. They wanted to be there to comfort her in case she needed it. Josslyn walks slowly to Oscar's casket and rests her right hand over it and continued to walk a bit before stopping. She looked down at the casket and places both hands on it. She briefly closes her eyes and tears fall down)

Josslyn: "You will always be in my heart. That will never change. I gave you my heart the day we said our 'I love yous'." (sniffles) "When we put our initials on the lock and then locked it on the bridge...that was our way of making our love last. I truly believe that it will." (chuckles sadly) "We were planning on going to prom next year... before you got your diagnosis.

(Josslyn looks at her boyfriend's picture. She knew in her heart that he was alive. She also knew deep down, although she tried to remain optimistic, that there was a possibility of Oscar not making it at the safe house. She had to believe that God would bring Oscar back to her. Until then? All she could cling onto was hope. She blinks a few times to let the tears fall as she sighed deeply. She walks a few steps to see Oscar's picture)

Josslyn: "You have my heart, Oscar Nero Quartermaine. Now and forever. I love you."

(Josslyn starts crying in her mother's arms, while Carly comforts her. Monica, Ned, Olivia, and Alexis take turns speaks to Oscar' picture)

Monica: "I didn't have much time with you, Oscar, but I will never forget you. Your laugh, your smile, and the endless love you gave everyone. I was so happy when you chose to take the Quartermaine name. I love you, my grandson."

(Monica looks up at the ceiling)

Monica: "Edward, Lila, Alan...please take care of Oscar."

(Monica walks away to give Ned a turn)

Ned: "You will be missed. Your endless sarcasm and the way you did everything in your power to make others feel better when they're sad...you are a true Quartermaine. Like Monica said, I hope Lila, Edward and Alan are watching over you."

(Ned goes next to Monica while Olivia has her turn)

Olivia: (sniffles) "You always brought smiles to everyone's faces...even when they didn't want that." (chuckles & sniffles) "Thank you for being you and loving everyone without asking for anything in return. This isn't goodbye Oscar, but see you later."

(Olivia goes to the group while Alexis takes her turn)

Alexis: "You were a remarkable young man, Oscar. Please know that you will forever be in our hearts and minds. Everyone who has met you knows that you are a treasure."

(The group walks back to their spot in the pews. Elizabeth, Franco, Cameron, and Trina take their turns)

Liz: "Thank you for being friends with my son. Thank you for always being a sweetheart to everyone, Oscar." (tearfully) "You will be greatly missed."

(Franco walks to the picture)

Franco: "From what I knew about you, you always brought a smile to everyone's face. Even though you were having a bad day, I've never seen it get you down. You're now with the angels, Oscar."

(Next was Cameron's turn)

Cameron: "We didn't always get along, but you always tried to because of Josslyn and Trina. You didn't want them to worry about choosing sides. You also didn't want to fight. After a while, we finally got rid of our egos and got over ourselves." (sniffles) "You were a really good friend, Oscar. I'll miss you."

(Trina's turn)

Trina: "Hey, Oscar. I'm glad we were friends and that you always made me laugh even if I was having a bad day. You and Cameron were my heroes. I'll never forget you."

(After everyone says their peace and are back in the pews, the priest speaks again)

Priest: "Thank you all for speaking in honor of Oscar Nero Quartermaine. There is lunch and refreshments in the park where there's a rock placed in Oscar's memory. Please help yourselves."

(Before everyone exits the church, Alexis raises her voice so everyone can hear her)

Alexis: "For those that were family of Oscar's, after the lunch in the park, please come to the Quartermaine mansion as Oscar requested a will reading. Thank you. Please enjoy the lunch and refreshments that's provided. Thank you."

(Everyone then leaves the church and enjoys the lunch in the park)
