APOV
I'm waiting anxiously at the house with my family for Edward to come back after bringing Bella home. It's a struggle to not show my emotions and voice my concerns to my family. I don't know if I can trust them to keep their thoughts distracted until I find out more about Edward's plan.
The hours go by and I'm only feeling more and more anxious. Where is he? Did he meet with Victoria already? When is he going through with the plan? God, am I too late? I'm about to run outside the house to check on Bella when I see Edward's headlights shine light on our long gravel driveway.
I duck inside before he sees me and he walks in moments later. "Where'd you go Edward? You've been gone awhile. Wait...are those different clothes than earlier?" Rosalie questions him.
"Oooh Eddie boy, did you finally get some action in with Bella," Emmett chimes in.
I remain quiet and analyze his facial features. He's not hiding his emotions too well, I'm sad Jasper can't be here to confirm my suspicions.
"Don't be silly Emmett, I simply changed my clothes because they were soiled from the day," Edward replies, a smirk gracing his face. He thinks he's fooling us.
"Um, okay," Emmett replies, looking confused. I wonder if I can trust him about my new mission with Jasper.
"I'm going upstairs to my room to rest, it's been a long day. Alice, come get me if Laurent comes and checks in. I'd like to see what he has to say about Victoria," Edward directs at me.
"Sure. I hope he'll be back soon," I reply to him as nonchalantly as I can muster. I head up the stairs after Edward to try to clear out more of Jasper's belongings and move them to the empty bedroom down the hall. I was the one responsible for the extra bedroom. I told Carlisle explicitly to buy a house with an extra bedroom, feeling like we'd need it. I just didn't know how much and how soon we would need it, I thought sadly.
A couple hours go by and still no sign of Laurent. I wait by the window wishing for another vision to take over me. I'm trying again to will a vision into happening when I hear a soft tap tap at the window. I peer into the dense forest and see red eyes flashing at me, it's Laurent. He's signaling for me to meet him at the clearing where we went hunting. I make up an excuse about needing some alone time before meeting him outside.
We embrace when we get close enough and find a boulder to perch on. He fills me in on what he's seen since he's been with me. He managed to find Victoria in the throes of passion with Edward at the warehouse. He remained hidden and listened to their conversation. He got more information than what I saw in my vision, and he confirmed my fears. Edward and Victoria were plotting against Bella and were going to turn her into a feed farm.
"They're going to strike next week. What are we going to do Al," he questions me with worried eyes.
"I'm not sure. I need to tell Jasper ASAP. He's sure to come up with a plan, he didn't become a Major for nothing," I reply to Laurent before pulling out my phone. It only needs to ring once before I hear his familiar voice through the phone.
"What's up Ally? See anything new," he greets me, background loud, as the wind whips through the microphone.
"Hi Jazz. Actually no, but Laurent found Victoria and Edward going at it and played spy for us. He says that they're trying to strike next week. Edward's planning on taking her somewhere. He said something about an island, he's going to tell everyone that she died of natural causes and use her like a feed farm," I reply back quickly, we were running out of time to devise a better plan.
"He's going to do what now?" Jasper yells through the phone. "Sonofabitch, I ain't gonna let that happen. I'm coming back now. Let's get this dirtbag early."
"Jasper, you can't. Carlisle and Esme won't believe it. It's our word over his and he'll feed them with lies. We need proof first. I just know that he'll turn on Victoria and blame it on her," I reply. "If we go that route, he'll still be a threat to Bella. We need to get them both at the same time."
"...are you sure that's the right thing to do? We could just dismember him quickly and face the consequences later," he replies slowly, rethinking his decision to turn around.
"I'm sure. Besides, don't you think Bella will be devastated when we kill her boyfriend who is supposed to be our family," I reply, "She'll think we're monsters Jasper. She won't want anything to do with us. Based on my calculations, if we take this route, we're only going to push her towards the pack and Jacob."
"Well, we can't be having that. Okay, I'll keep riding to Texas. Let's brainstorm for a minute and I'll think the rest of the way on my own. You said an island? Could that be Isle Esme," he yells through the microphone, trying to be louder than the wind.
"I thought that too, but I thought it's still deserted. We would definitely catch him if he went there," I replied. "I think it's another island, Jasper."
"It's not deserted Ally. Rose and Emmett said that the last time they were there they saw some locals living on the end of the island. I guess the government retracted the big for a solo island for Carlisle. He only owns half of it now," Jasper replies quickly.
"I don't know of any other island. Let's start with that and I'll try to look for clues in my vision on where he's planning on taking her. I'll let you get to plotting," I reply. "Text me when you arrive and we can talk more about this."
I shut the phone close and made sure Laurent was clear on what was happening. I show him how to keep Edward out of his mind before we head back to the house. Any talk of Mission Bella would have to be on our 'solo' hunting trips together where we would reconnect with Jasper.
