Chapter 8:Flying Leason

Jean and Hawks left the hotel and began heading towards a meadow in the park they saw earlier. As they reached the park, no one else was around. It was wide and open. "Are ready?" she asked him.

"Yes." he chirped, spreading his wing a bit. She laughs and smiles. "Oh, alright." Doing a one last look over before they began.

"Now, I'm going to lift you up. It won't be to high though and don't worry I won't let go." she promised as he nodded his head eager to get started.

Holding his hand carefully, she lifted him. Hawks watches as his feet slowly left the ground. With his red wings out, he could feel the wind blowing against him. A smile spread on his face. He soon wasn't holding her hand but, he knew she was holding him there.

Carefully, she lows him back down. "Cool, again!" he chirped excitedly and a wide bright smile on his face.

"Oh, o-okay," Jean giggles and smiles at him. "I'll go higher."

For the next hour they practiced his guiding. Hawks smiled and laughing a little. Each time he would get higher off the ground. He watched as birds flew by. I want to fly like that sometime. He watched as they flew off.

As his feet touched the ground the five-year-old was actually smiling. "More.. please.." he begged her with wide pleading eyes. Jean laughs. "Sure, I don't see why not?" Hawks hugs her leg. "Thank you." He looks up, smiling. "I trying flying like a bird."

She laughs. "I am not sure your—"

"—There you are."

Jean looks up as a group approached. Hawks looks over, then at Jean. "What's wrong?" he asked. One of men walked up and stops a few feet away. "If you don't mind, we'll take Hawks with us now." he said in kind like voice.

Hawks shrunk back he held onto Jean's leg fearfully. Who are they? Why do they want me? He looks up at Jean. Is she going to give me to them?

"I don't think so," She said, crossing her arms. "He doesn't seam to know you at all. So, why should let you just take him."

"We are from the Hero Public Safety Commission."

"And that gives you right to him? He's a kid and has no clue who you guys are. I think we handle this on our own. If he doesn't want to go why should he? I'm sure Professor X could figure this out. Who are you to to think you alone can solve this?"

She's sounds mad, Hawks thought as he stayed hidden behind her. They don't look happy either.

"We raised him before, so we know him," the lady said. She didn't sound nearly as happy as the man.

"Maybe, but right now. You strangers to him. And where were you when this happened? Because unlike you guys, we were there and been with him since."

"Give him to us please," the lady said with a sickly smooth voice.

What's going on? Hawks thought, looking from his hiding place.

"Jean!"

Hawks saw the scary mana and white hair woman walking up. He looked up at Jean as she looked more relax.

"What's going on?" Logan asked, looking at the HPSC members before them. His gaze narrowed at them.

"We're here to pick up Hawks, we know how to handle him." One of the men said.

"Really, because you look like people who care about profit, fame and money, and not what a child really needs." Logan's claws appeared.

I'm scared, this because of me?

Another man stepped forward. "We raised him before and we can do it again."

"Raise him!" Logan growled. "I don't think that lifestyle is what this boy needs. You should leave him be."

"You can't tell us what to do!"

"P-please… I'm sorry." Hawks cried as he watched. Jean looks down at him. Before kneeling to his level. "I-I'll go with them.. just don't fight." He begged.

"Shh.. It's okay Hawks," Jean smiles soft looking over at Logan and the HPSC. "No, one will fight." Hawks looked down at his feet. "B-But.." Jean whipped his tears back, catching Logan's gaze.

"Maybe, but-" Logan gestures to the boy next to Jean. "Right now, he's scared. Who are you to choose what is right for him?" he asked. "If we keep this up a fight will happen and no wants that, do we?" he showed his claws.

Hawks and Jean look over. As he kid beside her. Jean's hand resting on his head. "Th-they aren't g-going to fight?" Jean shakes her head. "Of course not Hawks." she smiles at him. "Besides, wouldn't be fair fight, with Loan and Storm here." Hawks smiles a bit and nodded. "Y-yeah."

"Best you go, kid's doing just fine, with us."

The group glared at them. Storm walks over. "Pick your fights, he stay with us." she said, standing next to him. "Is isn't over." one of men said as they walked off.

Logan sighs and sheathed his claws and walks over. Hawks shrank back a bit. "You okay." he said putting a hand on his head. "We're going to look after you." Hawks looks up at him. Scary man is nice. He smiles a bit.

"Thanks for coming," Jean said, smiling. "No problem, Red, happy to help you and Little Feathers here."

"So, what were you two doing out here?" Storm asked. They stopped by ice cream shop on the way back to the hotel. "Well, Hawks here want practice using his quirk, so we figure we head outside to a local park." Jean smiles, looking down at Hawks.

Hawks nodded. "I want to get better with my quirk so I be useful," he said. "Well, you'll get there soon, kid." Logan walks over hand over two cones before kneeling in front of Hawks with another.

Hawks looked at him, then Jean. "Can I?" Jean laughs. "You don't have to ask me, it's yours." Hawks lets go of her hand and takes the cone. "Thank you." Logan nodded and stood up.

Hawks eyes sparked. "It's cold." the others laughs as he ate it. They kept on walking back. Hawks stuck close to Jean as they went. He looked at Storm, Logan, and Jean. Why are they kind to ne? Hawks yawns, rubbing his eyes. "Do want one of us to carry you back?" Jean asked. "No, can walk." he muttered.

As they reached the rooms. "Hawks, go with Logan alright." she said, placing a hand on his back. The boy yawns and nodded. Logan opens the door to let Hawks in. "What in the world?" he looked around the messy room. Did this kid do this? He felt a tug on his pant leg.

Looking down, Hawks rubs his eyes then puts up arms. You have to-be joking, sigh as he begrudgingly he picks him. Hawks wraps his arms around. "Thanks scray man." Logan sighs and the kid fell asleep. After a few attempts to remove him from his neck, the kid was soon in bed curling up with his doll. Logan sighs, plopped down on his bed. "This kid's real headache." yet he smiles, watching the kid sleep peacefully. Still, he's family.
