"What's this?" A bag laying in the corner of Kamiko's room caught Bakugou's interest. They had finished cleaning the dishes, and there was essentially nothing to do. He vaguely remembered that some guy brought this bag over yesterday for Kamiko. He walked over and bent down curiously to see what was inside.
"Hey I don't think you-" Before Kamiko could stop him Bakugou pulled out a DVD container from the bag. His eyes expanded to the size of golf balls when he saw the graphic content on the cover, and threw it against the wall like he was shaking off a spider. "Ah..." Too late, Kamiko thought.
"What the fuck was that?!" Bakugou demanded.
"Just...you know...references?" the manga artist answered, shrugging at him. "H-Hey! Don't make that face! I'm not some piece of trash you know!" She shouted when she saw the disgust in Bakugou's eyes. She collected the disk holder Bakugou threw and put it back in its bag. "Geez. These are borrowed products, so don't break them."
Bakugou didn't even wanna question why the person who came yesterday has all these. Traumatized by basically everything in her house, the blonde hero decided it was best that he just went to bed. Laying down in his futon, the hero made himself comfortable. He scrolled through the news on his phone before he slept.
Meanwhile Kamiko was at her desk. She turned off the big lights and only left the lamp on her desk on. Bakugou looked up from where he laid, to see Kamiko working on something on her computer. She had this weird pencil thing that wasn't a pencil, and she slid it across this board, and her lines started appearing on her computer. Is that how manga is made? He wondered. So this is why she's always so tired.
She had this serious look on her face when she draws. Her brows lightly furrowed as she carefully made each line exactly where she wanted. Years of practice had made her much more efficient at line art. However, each panel was a drawing of its own, with unique backgrounds and angles. Sometimes she had to erase and redraw to get the look she was going for. It's hard to connect her with the spaced out, sometimes goofy looking woman he sees around the city.
Bakugou didn't sleep too heavily, for he knew he had to be on constant guard. Kamiko wasn't very loud when she worked. In fact she never once got up from her chair. Bakugou woke up once around 4 in the morning, feeling the urge to use the bathroom. However when he opened his eyes he found that the lamp was still on. When he looked at the desk, he found Kamiko leaning on desk, her arms as a head rest.
He walked over to her, to see her laptop screen was already blacked out. He didn't realize being a manga artist was this much work. He always thought heroes had the toughest jobs, but even he didn't have to sleep on a desk. "Geez..." he muttered. Bakugou pulled her chair back and carefully picked her up from under the knee and back. He gently placed her in her bed and pulled the blanket over her.
"Mmmm..." she groaned softly, causing Bakugou to halt. Did he wake her up? "Deadlines... Deadlines..." She said in her sleep, barely audible. Kniwing she's not awake, he took a deep breath and finally went to the bathroom. When he came back, he turned the lamp off and went back to bed.
Bakugou woke up again around 6:30. "Hey, wa-" He stopped. Remembering the way she fell asleep on the desk, it somehow felt wrong to wake her up so early. Bakugou rubbed the back of his head as a soft growl rumbled in the depth of his throat. Ahh! So annoying.
For the first time Kamiko woke up before her alarm. It was this alluring aroma that got her nose tingling. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and let out a loud yawn as she sat up, ready to find out what exactly smells so good. Her eyes widened when she saw miso soup, tamagoyaki, rice, and grilled salmon. She had to slap herself in the face to make sure she wasn't dreaming. D-Did her mom come over or something?
Bakugou walked into the room with an apron around his body. Kamiko's jaws dropped. DID BAKUGOU MAKE ALL THIS?! "Finally up eh?" the man smirked at her. "Now wipe all that drool on your face it's disgusting." Kamiko quickly rubbed the corners of her mouth with the back of her hand as her face turned into a dark shade of red.
"S-Shut up..." she mumbled in embarrassment.
"Go brush your damned teeth," Bakugou ordered. The silver haired woman rolled out of her bed and stumbled her way into the bathroom. When she got back, Bakugou had already started eating.
"Man Bakugou, I didn't expect you to be such a housewife material," Kamiko chuckled as she sat across from him.
"Hah?!" Bakugou glared at her.
She raised her hands in defense and muttered, "Ittadakimasu."
After breakfast, Bakugou sent Kamiko to school. The feeling of having someone bring her to school felt so odd to her as a twenty year old. She understood the necessity, but she nearly said "bye Dad have fun at work" when Bakugou turned to leave.
He told her that Clearvo would be in the area watching her, and that he too would be monitoring her via GPS. She thought this whole surveillance thing would be more invasive in her private life, but other than having Bakugou stay over at her place, which she surprisingly didn't have a problem with, she seemed to be living her life quite normally. Guess I really need to thank Bakugou and Inazumari-san for working everything out, Kamiko thought. Surely they must've put a lot of planning into it so I can continue on with my everyday life.
She looked around, wondering if Clearvo really was watching her from somewhere. So she just waved to nowhere in particular and mouthed, "Hi Clearvo!" No response. Well of course, since he's technically nowhere near her...probably.
Since she'd finish most of her general education courses, as a junior Kamiko mainly spends her time in the studio with a few friends, working on their portfolio and assignments. Kamiko was started by her phone when it started to buzz in the midst of painting, causing her to almost smear the paint. She was still not quite used to the settings of her new phone. I should just set it to silent, she thought. She picked the phone up from the desk on her side, and was surprised to see King Explosion Murder as the caller ID.
"Hello?" she balanced the phone between her left shoulder and ear as she mixed the paint.
"It's 12," Bakugou said.
Kamiko's face scrunched in confusion. "So?" Was this some sort of code?
"Get your fat ass up and go eat something. I don't want you dead under my protection."
Kamiko glanced at the wall clock. It was indeed noon. She hadn't even realized. Did he call me just to remind me to eat? She wondered as an awe filled smile spread across her face. "Well technically if I'm a fat ass shouldn't I try to eat less?"
She started chuckling when she heard Bakugou growling in annoyance from the other end of the call. "WELL THEN DON'T GO FUCKIN' CRYING 'ND MAKIN' EXCUSES WHEN I BEAT THE FUCKING SHIT OUT OF YOU!" She winced and nearly dropped her phone from the ear piercing scream.
"Chill Explodo King, you know I'm just messing with you," she said as she dumped the brushes into the water buckets and undid the back of her apron. "If you're worried about me you should just be honest."
"Who the fuck said I'm worried about you dipshit?" Bakugou growled. "I don't give a damn even if you drop dead right now!" And suddenly the call was ended. Kamiko's eyes widened when out of the blue all she heard was just 'beep beep beep.' She took the phone from her shoulder and placed it in her butt pocket as she took off the apron and hung it on the rack. In the studio, a lot of her friends were still working.
"Hey, I'm gonna go get lunch. Anyone want me to bring something back?" she shouted over the music Kakihara blasted in the studio.
"That's rare! Since when did our Kami-sama start getting hungry?" one of the girls asked with an intrigued smirk on her face. Most of her friends call Kamiko by Miko-chan because Kamiko wanted to avoid the term 'Kami' in her name. While 'kami' (神) meant god in Japanese, Kamiko's name was written 'Kami-ko'(上子), in which 'kami' is written with the kanji for 'up' which symbolizes superiority. Her name literally means 'superior child,' which symbolizes her parents' expectations for her.
She didn't like her name as a child and teenager, because she knew she could never live up to her parents' expectation, but her friends began calling her Kami-sama for a different reason. Kamiko always works tirelessly, and often forgets to eat. Her friends like to joke that she survives on nature energy instead of food like normal humans, hence the name Kami-sama, an inside joke to poke fun at her for not eating.
"Well today, a believer of mine has presented an offering!" Kamiko replied with a smug. "Now hurry up and tell me what you want."
"Where are you going?" Akemi asked.
"The canteen," Kamiko rolled her eyes as she stated the obvious.
"Then can you get me the yakisoba bread?"
"I want melon bread!"
"Tuna sandwich for me!"
Kamiko jotted their requests down on her phone, grabbed her purse and left the studio. She too should get something easy and quick, like onigiri or a sandwich. Yakisoba bread almost sold out when she got to the canteen, so she was glad she made it in time to buy one for her friend. Kamiko got a tuna onigiri for herself and a can of coffee.
She unwrapped the onigiri on her way back, but just before she took a bite, Kamiko decided to take a selfie with it. She attached the picture to a text message and wrote, "Thanks for the reminder, D-A-D." Kamiko chuckled, "And sent!" She then shoved the onigiri in her mouth. A second later she felt her phone buzz, and there was a reply from Bakugou.
"FUCK OFF!" It read. Kamiko giggled a little before putting the phone back in her pocket.
Kamiko texted Bakugou before she started cleaning up so the heroes can prepare beforehand. When she was done cleaning up her work station, she got a text from an unknown number.
'Hey! This is Kaminari! Which gate will you be getting out from? I'm gonna pick you up ;)'
Kamiko texted back that she would be coming out of the main gate, and told him to wait there. She grabbed her bag and left the studio, and in five minutes she was at the gate. To her surprise, Kaminari wasn't wearing his hero outfit, but more of a casual, under the radar kind of look. He wore a nice pair of form fitting jeans with a black hoodie with white rectangular designs running along it. He also wore a pair of sunglasses even though it wasn't exactly a sunny day.
The college student chuckled as she walked up to the undercover hero. "Why aren't you in your costume?" she asked.
"Eh, didn't wanna catch attention as I escort the lady," Kaminari slipped his sunglasses down to flash Kamiko a wink.
"I don't know, you're iconic hair kind of gives you away," Kamiko noted. There were a few people who gave Kaminari weird glances as they walked by, but for the most part, Kamiko was surprised that this whole undercover thing was doing pretty well. Maybe people just don't care for Chargebolt as much as they do for Ground Zero.
"Ah let's not get into the details," Kaminari said as he shoved his glasses back up. "Let's go. I'll take you back to the agency. Bakugou was going to come take you straight home, but he got called to a convenience store robbery on the way here."
"When will he be done?" asked Kamiko as the two made their way down the street.
"Eh, shouldn't take long. It's Bakugou we're talking about. Two minutes of 'DIE DIE DIE' and he'll be over with it," Kaminari laughed, to which Kamiko joined in.
"Hahaha! You got that right!"
