*Chapter 10*
Months later, things had settled down. Missy changed her mind about getting a local doctor; giving the circumstances. Neither of them knew what to expect. The three of them would be in research to sun up til sun down; barely taking any breaks. They hadn't forgot about Barton. They knew he would be back, but when was the question. The Boys and Missy were depleted. Dean and Sam also worked on other cases as well. Missy explored on her pregnancy on both worlds; land and sea. They was seated at the table, as the boys noticed Missy doze on and off.
Dean grasped hold of her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze to wake her.
"Huh? What?" Missy asked, groggily.
"Babe, why don't you lay down some. You're exhausted. It's not healthy for you or the baby. Sam and I got this."
"It's okay Missy, we'll take care of this. You go and rest," Sam suggested.
Missy glanced down at her swollen belly. According to her findings, she was having a normal human pregnancy. She was eight months along.
Dean and her still shared their romantic times together, but. When she started showing Dean began to hesitate each time. He told her he didn't want to harm the baby or her. So, every now and then when Dean brings it up, Missy would pushed Dean onto the bed, wanting him to make love to her. She was just as bad as him in needing the release.
"Alright." Missy spoke in a fatigue voice.
Dean helped her into the bed after, he peeled the covers back. Then, he eased her carefully down on the bed.
"But Dean I-"
"It can wait." Dean said, as he kissed her forehead. "Now rest." With that he covered her body with a blanket and left the room.
Dean reappeared back in the room Sam was at. He went to the fridge and collected a beer and took a swig.
"It's getting to much for her, isn't it?" Sam asked.
"Yeah. She still be stubborn though. Doesn't matter, she won't deal with a hospital. We have talked about it, I get the same answer from her, plus we don't know what to expect is worrying her and me.
"Me too." Sam replied. "She might not like it, but she needs lots of rest right now.
"Try telling her that. She will not listen."
"Yeah I know. " Sam said, then added in a whisper. "You both are stubborn as the other one."
"Huh?" Dean queried.
"Never mind."
Missy laid there in deep thought. 'Bed rest. There would be more days of this to come,' she guessed. She had been under a lot of stress. Missy pouted. 'Oh well, better enjoy it, while I can.' Missy thought and closed her eyes.
Days passed, Missy would occasionally get out of bed more, when the boys were gone on cases. She despised being on bed rest. She always had her cell phone charged and near by at all times. Missy picked up the previous files- cases of creatures that she had been reading months ago. She grabbed a snack and a water bottle, before settling down to read. Missy sighed, the bed was high for her petite body. She looked at her baggie T-shirt and P'J bottoms, the wonderful growth from the baby was going to make her need bigger clothes and very soon.
Sam, Dean and Missy research in home birthing. The boys didn't like it, but Missy was more comfortable with it than going to the hospital. Not knowing what to predict was the big challenge. It was odd how that happened. The boys had everything that they need for home birth. The false runs had them kinda ready.
Subsequently, Missy had to start wearing a long night gown. It was easier when the baby came, which was any day. It had became unbearable for her to eat. She did it, just not as much.
"How you feeling?" Dean quizzed, while Sam placed the food onto the table.
"Good. Tired." Missy rejoined.
"Have you had any contractions lately?" Sam inquired.
"No. Not yet. I really wish the baby was here. It is getting harder each day." Missy said, as she looked down at her humongous stomach and place her hands there.
In doing so, Dean place his hand on top hers and said, "I know. We just need to be a little more patience."
The Winchesters could tell how miserable Missy was. They hope it wouldn't be long. Sam began to tell an old story, a prank he did on Dean when they investigated the haunted house that belong to Murdoch. The boys went back and forwards joking on who was the best prankster. Missy laughed at their childish ways.
Dean stopped in mid-sentence for his cell phone went off. He glanced down at the screen and excuse himself. "Be back," he told them.
Sam and Missy both replied, "Okay."
Sam went ahead and finished the out come of the case.
Once Dean was out of ear shot. He answered the call from Barton. The terms he presented to Dean was to settled this. Of course, Dean accepted the confrontation. Barton conveyed eagerly into the phone and instructed Dean to where to meet at.
Dean come back into view and explain the specification from Barton. Missy plead with him to not go, not now anyways. Dean mentioned he need to protect his family. Sam understood both sides of the situation. When Missy seen that her words wouldn't phase Dean's decision. She tried not let the tears escape her eyes as she got up and head to the bedroom. Missy couldn't control her emotions like before, because of the increase of hormones. The boys winced at the slammed door. Which lead Sam to say the following.
"Dean, you really shouldn't leave. Not now. I understand the reason-"
"Sam, if I don't go on now and take care of Barton, he will just keep coming after her and soon the baby."
"Dean, think about this. What if it's a trap," Sam implied.
Dean ceased from packing the duffel bag, that was filled with items needed on the hunt.
"Trap?! Wouldn't be the first. He's insisting war. All I say is bring it on! I am ready!" Dean said, as he zipped the bag closed. Next, he turned away and left the room.
"DEAN?!" Sam called out, but Dean had vanished from sight and into another room.
To have more room for when the baby arrived. They decided to move some of Dean's gear and her tridents into another unused room. It's known now as the "Gear room".
Dean entered the bedroom and closed it behind him.
"Dean?" Missy questioned, as she wiped away the fallen tears."
"Missy?!"
"What is it?" Missy asked, then she watched him set the duffel bag down. "Oh, I see," she added.
Dean sighed heavily. "If I don't go now. He will bring harm to you and the baby. If anything would happen-" Dean trailed off as he put his finger-tips on her soft cheeks.
Dean put his hand on her belly. At the moment, the baby kicked and Dean felt it. Instantly, they glanced up at one another and beamed. He bent down to kiss her, as a tear rolled down her cheeks. Dean seized it and wiped it away. Then, he placed his head against her forehead gently and let out a groan growl.
"Dean? Maybe it can wait til the baby is born and I-"
"No, it can't. Barton is unpredictable. I just wish-"
"I know," Missy whispered, softly.
Silence became between them, as they both stood in a cuddle stance with one another.
Dean gave Missy a kiss again, and with heavy hesitation spoke the following. " I must go. I'll hurry back. Promise!"
Missy nodded and said, "Be careful. Love you!"
"Will do. Love you, too!"
As Dean went out the door, Missy uttered the words to herself, "Come back to me, to us Dean Winchester!" After that, she cried quietly.
"DEAN! Wait!" Sam said, in a heated tone.
"Sammy, just take care of her and call me if anything happens!"
"DEAN!" Sam repeated.
"Sam, we have been through this!" Dean alleged, as he left behind one aggravated brother.
Days passed. It was getting extremely difficult on Missy in more ways than one. The contractions was getting closer, it wouldn't be long. She joined Sam in the living room. He could tell she was in pain, but didn't say a word.
"Missy anytime you want to go to the hospital, just say the word. The tank is full and ready to go."
"Thanks, Sammy! I'll be alright, really. Have you heard anything from Dean?" Missy quested.
"Just the usual. It turns out Barton is playing games with Dean, which has made him delirious. I tried to convinced him to come home, that this was another hint of time not being on our side. Prior to Dean ended the call, he told me he wanted to check something out, before he did."
"Sounds like him. I hated that I missed a call from him." Missy said, sadly.
"Yeah, Dean said you was probably resting and I told him you was."
Missy nodded. "Well I'm heading off to bed."
"This early? It's seven a.m." Sam mentioned.
"I'm in the middle of this good book. I just feel tired and my back needs the rest. I walked around some, but still."
"Yeah I say. Okay, night!" Sam said and went back to look at his screen on his laptop.
"Night."
As Missy rose up and turned, she froze from the sudden wetness that leaked down her legs and on to her feet. Right then, she knew.
"SAM!" Missy called out.
Sam looked up at Missy and seen the liquid- puddle that had surrounded her feet. Abruptly, he went into action. He grabbed towels, blankets, pillows from the tote that they had prepared. In a rush, Sam went to work.
Sam had fixed a bedding place with a pillow and blankets. Next, he helped Missy onto the floor, slowly.
"He's not gonna to be here?!" Missy said, in panic between breaths.
"He'll be here" Sam said, in comfort. He pulled out his phone to dialed Dean. After so many rings and losing hope of him answering, Sam heard.
"WHAT?"
"Dean, come home- NOW!" Sam said in a serious voice, as he ignored Dean's angry tone.
"Why? What's wrong?"
"Its Missy. It's time."
"Be right there!" Dean claimed and ended the call.
Hours later, Dean walked into the quiet Bunker. Well it was, until he was met by the sound of a woman's hurtful scream, followed by Sam's voice.
"You can't wait on Dean. You gotta do this. The baby is almost here."
Dean immediately ran towards them, as he approached closer. Missy let out a pierced scream. Dean seen her laying in the made bed, her knees bent opened and blanket over her lap. He seen the weakness in her face. Sam was going to check her one more time, when Dean place a hand on his shoulder to stopped him.
Sam quickly turned towards his brother. "Dean?"
"Dean!?" Missy whispered out.
"Sammy?!" Dean had discussed that who ever was here was to one help her. Dean had a worry expression that Sam seen and knew Dean had saw it. Missy wasn't doing to good, growing paler by the minute. She fought it to put it off, until Dean came. In doing so, it almost killed her. The blood on the floor was everywhere as Dean acknowledge mentally.
"She's okay, Dean. Missy is tired, weak, and in pain. It's been fifteen hours. She's almost there. I was bout to-" Sam mentioned.
Dean went next to her as Sam spoke. He grasped her hand and she returned the squeeze
"Go on, Sammy and take a break." Dean commanded.
"You sure?" Sam asked.
"Yes."
"Dean?! You came? I'" Missy hoarse out.
"Shh. You'll need your strength. Let's do this together. Now, a take a breath and let's meet our baby."
Missy did as instructed and brought their child into the world. As she did, outside flashed with lightening and heavy thundered occurred. Blackness would try to overtake Missy, but Dean helped her recovered.
Suddenly, a child was crying, which caused happiness in the room. After the separation from the mother. Dean knew the sex of the baby, which didn't matter to him. As long as the baby and Missy was healthy. They talked about a name in the past, but none suited. Now was the time to choose.
"Missy? Say hello to our son." Dean said, as he showed her the wrapped bundle.
"A son? Aww. Look at how beautiful he is." Missy replied, as she took hold of the baby.
Dean had already cleaned, stitched Missy up, when Sam knocked on the door facing.
"Can I come in?" He asked.
"Of course, Uncle Sammy!" Missy replied.
"Just for a tad bit. I was getting ready to take them back to the bedroom." Dean mentioned.
"Why the wait?" Sam wondered.
"He's eating." Missy stated, as she glanced at the baby on her chest, covered.
"Oh." Sam rejoined.
Once settled in, Queen Tanini, Missy's mother appeared before them in human form, but still in her Queen attire.
"Mother?" Missy asked, shocked at the sudden visit.
"Yes, dear. I have come here, personally to give you the good news of being released of the guilty charge. The council finally made up their minds.
"That's wonderful news. It's about time. Told'em all along!" Missy pointed out.
"Yes. So, now you can come home!?" The Queen said, pleased.
"Um. Mother. Queen." Missy spoke as she let her eyes catch the view of her sleeping bundle in Dean's arms. Her mother followed her daughter's action and gasped.
"Missy, Dean I-" Sam started to say, but came to a halt, for he was puzzled at the sight in front of him.
"Sam, Dean, this is my mother, and Queen Tanini. Mother, that's Sam and the man holding the baby, our baby is the father, Dean.
"Nice to meet you all."
"Like wise." Sam and Dean both replied, discontented.
"Missy, surely you're not serious?!" The Queen pinpointed.
" I am"
"What was his exact answer to your true self. Say?"
Silence was between the Winchesters and Missy.
"He never did, did he?" The Queen examined.
"Now look here. Unlike you and the whole underworld group. We took Missy in and helped her in any way we could. Would you have welcome her in arms if she had told you she was pregnant?" Sam defended.
"That, I had no power over. The council-"
"Can go and screw themselves. You was suppose to be a mother first, and Queen after. You turned away your own child." Dean stated, displeased.
"Guys!" Missy retorted. "It doesn't matter now, because I have found out where I belong. No words had to be said, their actions told what words could not. I am very thankfully for Sam and Dean."
"And to let you know, your highness. I love Missy and she loves me. I want her and our son to remain in my life. Whatever happens, we'll handle it as best as we can." Dean announced, ecstatic.
"Mom, I love Dean! And he just now told you the words you needed to hear. Never understood the why behind that, but their is your answer!"
The Queen nodded and peeked at the baby that was laying comfortable on his daddy's chest. "Oh, Missy he's beautiful! What is his name?" She questioned as she softly touch the top of his head.
"Dalton Easton Winchester." Missy replied, proudly. Dean grinned happily at his son's name.
"Such a beautiful and strong name! This day. I, Queen Tanini give my blessing to this family of the child of land and sea. Also, this child will be protected and respected on land and sea. If anyone harms the child, punishment will be given. By I, his grandmother."
"Or me! His father," Dean added.
"Ditto. His uncle Sammy."
"Hey now! I'm his mother, y'all get in line" Missy replied, in a jest.
Their laughter filled the air.
"Well, hate to, but I must go." The Queen said. She kissed her grandson's cheek, followed by his mother's forehead. "If you need me, dear. I'm just a call away." The Queen gave Missy a starfish necklace.
The three nodded in that they understood.
"Good day, my daughter, her mate and the brother. Last, but not least my grandson."
"Good day, Queen. Mother." Missy said, as they both smiled warmly at each other. Then, in a wisp, the Queen vanished.
Few minutes had passed and Baby Dalton was getting sleepy. Missy sung a song that she knew.
"Hush now- my story.
Close your eyes and sleep.
Waltzing the waves.
Diving the deep.
Stars are shinning bright.
The wind is on the rise.
Whispering words.
Of long lost lullabies.
Oh won't you come with me.
Where the Moon is made of gold.
And in the morning sun.
We'll be sailing.
Oh won't you come with me.
Where the ocean meets the sky.
And as the clouds roll by.
We'll sing the song of the sea.
I had a dream last night.
And heard the sweetest sound.
And dancers in the round.
Castles in the sand.
Cradles in the trees.
Don't cry I'll see you by and by..."
Missy hummed the rest of the song, Dean commented on what a beautiful song that was. She agreed with him.
Quietness filled the room and it bothered Dean. He looked at his son, and next to Missy. He had to tell them. Sam entered the room. Here was his chance.
"Guys, I need to say something. You're not going to like what I am about to say-"
Sam and Missy watched him, in wait for his response.
"I didn't kill Barton."
