Neb: I do not own Cardfight Vanguard. OC vanguard player. I hope you all are enjoying the fanfic so far. Thanks for keeping up.
Takuto was flipping through the remainder of Yoshinari's deck. "It was decent at best. But your cards that helped you superior call units from the hand were holding you back. They were taking away your ability to guard and you didn't have any draw power units to compensate."
"Akane and Kay could superior call from the deck," Yoshinari shrugged.
"And that's good," Takuto smiled. "But I think I have cards that'll benifit you better." He laid out Yoshinari's deck on the table. We'll keep Akane, Pongal, and Soul Saver Dragon. We'll also keep Rendering Angel and Dream Painter. With your sixteen triggers that leaves thirteen cards left to fill in the deck." Takuto laid out nine more cards on the table. Miru Bird is good for boosting the Vanguard. However, we will keep him limited to one because that's situational. Then your grade three unit maxed out to help your Soul Saver Dragon is Swordsman of Explosive Flames, Palamedes." Yoshinari stared down in aw at the powerful unit that laid before him. "When he's place on the vanguard or rearguard circle he soul charges. Then when you place a unit from your soul to the drop zone, he gets plus 5000 power. That means Soul Saver Dragon would give him plus 25000 power along with the fifteen thousand power he'd already give Palamedes."
"Such a powerful unit," Yoshinari admitted.
"Isn't he impressive," Takuto chuckled. "The next unit is a grade two unit, Stabbing Knight, Regal. Just Like Palamedes she gets plus 5000 power for every card that moves from your soul to the dropzone."
"So these units help me take advantage of Soul Saver Dragon's abillity," Yoshinari agreed. "Would that be enough though?"
"Of course not," Takuto admitted. "Soul Saver Dragon is only four cards in your deck, you'll need another option for soul blasting to use their power if Soul Saver Dragon isn't on the field. Lake Maiden, Lien will fill that role. You Soul Blast one, draw a card and then discard a card."
"I don't understand," Yoshinari admitted. "Shouldn't I save my Soul Blasts for Soul Saver Dragon."
"With Palamedes, Pongal, Soul Saver Dragon and dream painter feeding your soul you should be able to use her abillity freely without getting in the way of Soul Saver Dragon. Plus her ability also works on the guard circle."
"I see," Yoshinari responded as he placed the new units in his deck.
"Now for the test run," Takuto grinned.
A limo pulled up by Yoshinari and Takuto. The driver stepped out and held the door open for a young girl with brown, long, flowing hair and green eyes. The girl stared at Yoshinari and then turned to Takuto.
"Why have you called me here Takuto?" the girl asked asked.
"He called you here to fight me I assume," Yoshinari figured. "I assume that your here to test my new deck."
"Right on the money Yoshinari," Takuto smiled. "This is Kinase Sane," Takuto introduced. "Just like the boy you faced in the card shop, she is a Kagero Player."
"Toshiki Kai," Yoshinari spoke up.
"Indeed," Takuto confirmed. "I called her here as a test run. You are to make her a Psyqualia Zombie, and then you will go after Kai if you win."
"What if I win?" Sane responded annoyed.
"Then I will lose control over Yoshinari," Takuto shrugged. "But I'd have no use of him anyways if he were to lose so easily."
"That's not good enough," Sane yelled. "I didn't get dragged all the way out here for a prize-less Fight."
"Please fight me," Yoshinari spoke up. He felt the hunger for Cardfight Vanguard consume him. His sense of reason had faded away. "I need to fight."
Sane stared back at Yoshinari in shock. "W-what did you do to him?"
"Nothing you can't undo," Takuto laughed. "If you can win against my champion that is."
Sane thought it over and then nodded. "I'm not leaving him like this," she decided. "I will fight."
Yoshinari placed his deck on the table. "Are you ready then?"
Sane placed her deck on the table. "I'm always ready for a fight!"
"Stand up," they both yelled. "Vanguard."
"Wyvernkid Ragla," Sane called out.
"Glyme," Yoshinari called out. "I'll start things off. I draw, then I ride Dream Painter, draw, then end my turn!"
"I draw, then I ride Wyvern Stike, Membuas," Sane yelled. "Then I draw."
"Show me the power of your Kagero," Yoshinari grinned.
"Gladly," Sane growled. "My Vanguard Attacks!"
"No Guard," Yoshinari spoke up.
"Drive trigger check, no trigger."
"Damage trigger check, draw trigger. I stand and draw." Yoshinari saw this girls eyes light up. Not like someone who has Psyqualia, but as someone who knew how to count cards. Apparently she's keeping track of Yoshinari's perfect guards which could be troublesome. "Stand and Draw! I ride High Dog Breeder Akane! I counterblast to superior call Pongal. Then I soul charge! A trigger went into the soul giving Pongal plus 5000 power." He saw it again. The way her eyes moved, she was keeping track. However, it wasn't a perfect guard draw trigger that went in the soul, it was a heal trigger. To her that means she only has to deal with three perfect guards and three heal triggers. "Pongal boosts and Akane attacks."
"No guard," Sane yelled.
"Drive trigger check... Critical trigger." He smiled as he dealt a devastating blow early in the game.
"Damage trigger check, no trigger, second check... no trigger. Stand and Draw." She glared at him. What was he planning? He's running a royal paladin deck, so he's expected to spam the field. Easy enough to beat with a deck that retires, but still. Takuto must have given this boy some sort of ace in the hole. Will it be able to stand against her Clan though? "I ride, Wyvern Strike, Gajil Bird! I call Wyvern Strike, Membuas to the rear."
"Wyvern Strike," Yoshinari repeated. "So this is a subclan right? Your cards feels more like support cards and they are very much behind Toshiki Kai. He would have retired my Pongal by now."
"I don't care about this Toshiki Kai you keep bringing up," she growled. "Membuas boosts and Gajil Bird attacks."
"No guard."
"Driver trigger check, heal trigger."
Yoshinari's smile went away. He was no longer at an advantage. But that's fine, the game is still early. "Damage trigger check, no trigger. Stand and Draw."
"Here it comes," she suspected. The grade three that was going to be this Royal Paladin Players new ace in the hole.
"Kagero sure does have a flaming spirit," Yoshinari commented. "Would you like me to show you mine?"
"W-what?"
"The Intense Fighting Spirit Becomes the Flame that passes the burning judgement! I ride Swordsman of the Explosive Flames, Palamedes! Force on my vanguard circle, Soul Charge."
"Soul Saver Dragon," she spoke up. "That's what your saving up for," she concluded. "But I've never seen this monster before. What's a Salamander doing in a Royal Paladin deck?"
"Do you like it?" Takuto grinned. "I gave Yoshinari the ability to fight fire with fire."
"I call Stabbing Knight, Regal," Yoshinari continued. "Then I call, Lake Maiden, Lien and use her ability. I soul blast, discard a card, and then draw a card. Palamedes and Regal each get plus 5000 power. I boost Palamedes with Pongal, then attack for 36000 power."
"No guard," she responded. She was confident in her ability to survive this turn, given she was at only one damage. Plus she needed more counter blasts saved up."
"Drive trigger check, no trigger, second check critical trigger. Crit to my vanguard, power to Regal."
"Damage trigger check, no trigger. Second check, critical trigger. Power to my vanguard."
"Lien boosts Regal," Yoshinari continued. "Regal attacks for 32000 power."
"Guard," she spoke up." She was at three damage, so she knew she could handle whatever Yoshinari threw at her the next turn. Palamedes and Soul Saver Dragon had power, yet their number as far as damage went was lacking. If Yoshinari wanted to win, he should have gotten a Vanguard that could increase how much damage it does to an opponent. Or a Vanguard that can restand or ride over top of another vanguard. In this game it doesn't matter how big your monster is, only how much damage it can do to the opponent. "Your definitely a skilled opponent," she admitted. "I'd like to one day see what you are capable of when your leash isn't being held by Takuto. I stand and draw. I ride Wyvern Strike, Agaruda! Force." She placed the force marker under her vanguard. I counterblast two and retire your Stabbing Knight then my Wyvern Strike, Agaruda gets plus 5000 power. I call Wyvern Strike, Doha! Then I use Doha's abillity to counterblast and superior call Wyvern Strike, Garan. Now My Vanguard attacks!"
Yoshinari was still only at two damage, he could take this hit and then deal a devastating blow next turn. "No guard."
"Twin drive check," she spoke up. "Critical Trigger, Crit to my vanguard power to Doha. Second check, draw trigger, Power to Doha and then I draw."
Yoshinari grunted as he took his next two damage. "Heal trigger," Yoshinari yelled. He was at three damage just like her now. At least if he guards her rearguard he would be."
"Doha is boosted by Garan," she began. "Doha attacks Your vanguard. 37000 power."
"No Guard," Yoshinari decided.
"I've never seen anyone let as much damage hit them in a turn as you have," she admitted. "Very gutsy."
"I just know I can take it," Yoshinari shrugged. "But can you? Stand and Draw! I ride Soul Saver Dragon! Force." He put a force marker in the spot where his Stabbing Knight use to be. "I call Palamedes to the rear and soul charge." He placed Palamedes in that exact spot. "Then I call Rendering Angel to superior call Dream Painter. With that, I add Stabbing Knight from my drop zone to my soul."
"He getting ready for the big attack," she deduced. Sane wasn't going to go down without a fight however. He hasn't even made it to her strongest card yet.
"I soul Blast five," Yoshinari called out. "Plus 15000 power goes to everyone on the field. Palamedes gets plus 5000 for each card that was placed in the drop zone from my soul."
"Show me the power of your Dragon and Salamander combo," she taunted him.
"Gladly," Yoshinari grinned as he felt the power of his units consume him. "Soul Saver Dragon attacks for 61000 power! I then Soul Charge."
"Perfect guard," she called out.
"Twin drive check," he yelled. "First check, second check critical trigger, power to Rendering Angel, critical to Palamedes. Palamedes attacks for 85000 power and a crit."
"No guard," she spoke up. "First Damage trigger, no trigger. Second, heal trigger." She was at four damage thanks to that. And she had two open counter blasts."
"Rendering Angel attacks for 63000 power," Yoshinari continued.
"No guard. Stand and draw." She then began to chuckle. You fallen into my trap."
He looked at her confused. "You can't run or hide! I ride Dual Axe Archdragon! Force!" She placed her force marker on the empty rearguard circle. This is why Kagero is better then Royal Paladin!" She counter blasted and then discarded a card in her hand. Then she retired all three units in Yoshinari's backrow. "Then I call Torridcannon Dragon!" She counter blasted again and then took her discarded unit and placed it on the bottom of her deck and retired Yoshinari's Rendering Angel. Because her Torridcannon Dragon could only retired grade two or less units, Sane couldn't retire his Plamedes. Which sucked, because she knew he'd be a problem. She could risk lower her guard by retiring one of her own grade two units and then calling a Wyvern Strike on Palamedes. However, that cost two counterblasts she didn't have. "My Torridcannon Dragon attacks your Palamedes for twenty thousand."
"Guard," Yoshinari called out. He noticed her cards abillities would have gotten off had he no rearguards left on the field. Specifically abilities that prevented him from guarding with what little cards he had left in his hand. "Wyvern Stike is formidable," Yoshinari admitted. "Especially your Membuas and Doha. Membuas would prevent me from using just guarding with one card if I have no rear guards. Doha would prevent me from guarding with normal units if I have no rearguards. However, you didn't have enough counterblasts to retire my last unit correct. So you went all or nothing trying to kill it with your Torridcannon Dragon."
"Correct," she admitted. "But not fully correct. I wanted you to reveal that guard in your hand."
He stared at her in confusion and then his eyes widened as he looked at his guard. A heal trigger.
"A heal trigger went into your soul, another went into your damage zone, and lastly a trigger was in your hand. That would mean you have one left in your deck. You have four cards in hand, one of witch is a perfect guard I presume. You are already at five damage do to your carefree attitude. I assume being turned into a zombie is responsible for that. So the odds of you surviving one attack is guaranteed, but to attacks. Not so much. Don't get me wrong, I had hoped to receive a counter charging unit before the end of the game, so that I could use Agaruda's abillity, but luck didn't come to my aid. Because of that, insuring you use up your hand defending against my vanguard was not going to happen. However, if I draw a critical trigger, you will not heal."
He glared angrily at her. How could this happen? Could she really beat him based on chance? No, it's not just chance, it's based on keeping track of your cards. She's good, but... She assumed that he had only one perfect guard in hand, however he had two. Meaning he would lose his whole hand delaying his defeat. Also, her hand had thinned out considerably, due to calling so many units to the field and guarding against his Soul Saver Dragon. He was certain he could pull this off.
"My Vanguard attacks," she spoke up. "Boosted by Membuas. 31000 power."
"Perfect guard," Yoshinari spoke up.
"Twin drive check," she spoke up. "Draw trigger, power to Doha.. second check... critical trigger all effects to Doha. Doha attacks. 32000 plus critical."
"Perfect guard," Yoshinari yelled once more revealing his last perfect guard." Her eyes widened and he grinned. "Stand and draw. I ride Palamedes. Force." He put it under his rearguard Palamedes." He then grinned menacingly at her as he soul charged. "You played a great game. Not even Kai had survived my Soul Saver Dragon."
She grunted as she checked her hand trying to go over the data. Him getting two perfect guards in hand wasn't unlikely, but it didn't seem right. It was like fate decided she'd lose this battle. "Damn you."
"My vanguard attacks."
"Perfect guard."
"Twin drive check... no trigger, second check. Heal trigger. Power to my rear and I heal. Palamedes on my rear attacks for 43000 power."
"...No guard."
"Excellent work Yoshinari," Takuto smiled. "I was quite worried. For a moment I thought you were going to lose. Kagero players sure are scary."
"Her defeat isn't enough," Yoshinari spoke up. "If I wish to test out this deck at it's fullest I must fight Aichi."
"In due time," Takuto grinned. "But first, you must take care of Kai."
