Chapter 10: God Save the Queen
...
Only a few days after the call with Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II, Integra was instructed to go to a secret location alone. As she packed a few things in a briefcase, Seras hugged her from behind. So, may I ask where my darling wife is off to?" Seras asked, gently kissing the side of her neck.
"Apologies, dear. But I cannot say. It is a matter handed down by Her Majesty." Integra answered, turning to kiss Seras on the lips.
Sensing something from Integra, Seras knew what was going on. "Oh, THAT"S what you're doing. Very well, I shan't breathe a word of it."
"I should return well before sunup. Perhaps we shall spend some alone time together tonight."
"What did you have in mind?"
"Maybe a movie, going for a walk or just staying here." Integra continued while hugging Seras. "We have all the time in the world."
"Half the time, anyway. At least at night." Seras countered, getting a chuckle from both of them.
...
Integra soon arrived at the secret location and was escorted inside by the Royal Guard as was the usual. After the last set of doors closed, she noticed that there were only members of the Royal family in the room, without any guards. She approached The Queen and bowed. "Your Highness, to what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Integra, dear. I believe you should see this before it goes public." The Queen answered, taking them over to a place with a coffin sized case underneath a sheet.
She moved the sheet and revealed a wax dummy that resembled herself in a resting pose. It became clear of what she was showing everyone. "I see. This is for the public, so they see a body."
"Precisely. By the end of the week, I shall depart for my retreat. It will be reported to the public that I 'passed' peacefully in my sleep. I can only hope I have such a luxury when I finally do actually pass on. Now, the preparations shall begin. It may take a few months, as my own coronation took over a year."
"I may take this affair rather hard." Her husband, Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, said.
"Are you not departing with her?" Integra asked.
"Oh, I mean publicly. I shall be stricken with grief upon her 'passing', as it were. I will join her at the retreat in time. Perhaps you shall already have taken the throne by then."
"I understand."
"One other matter I should attend to before the end of the week. The American gentlemen who rendered aid to us during the Battle of London should be rewarded for their help. I plan to knight them as one of my final acts here."
"I've worked with them personally, as has my wife. I'm certain that they will both appreciate their new titles." Integra said, knowing their level of respect for the crown.
"They will? Wonderful." Her Majesty replied.
"Of course. They may be rough around the edges, but they are respectful of our customs and even enjoy a good football game. They appear to be fans of Leicester City."
Her Highness chuckled lightly. "Well, they may not be West Ham United, but still respectable. I eagerly await their next game in April."
...
Integra returned home to find Seras waiting in her office, reading a book while sitting in the lounge chair. She stood up and leaned in for a kiss, which Integra happily gave her. "So, is there anything you are allowed to tell me about your visit?"
Integra took her seat at her desk. "Oahu Joe and Plaid Jeff are to be knighted for their service during the battle of London. Perhaps we should contact them. and tell them they'll be needed here soon."
Seras looked through her pockets and found the cards given to her by the both of them, with their numbers and email addresses. "We can call them or email them."
"Good. We can contact them tomorrow. For now, maybe we can relax together."
Integra patted her lap, inviting Seras to sit with her. She walked over and sat in her lap sideways. Integra put one hand on her thigh, the other behind her to hold her by the waist. They shared a kiss, followed by Integra moving her hand to Seras' belly. "I suppose we should start trying to conceive, shouldn't we?" Seras asked as she rested her head on Integra's shoulder.
"At some point, yes. I was simply admiring your smooth and toned core. As we are married, we can be intimate as we please."
Seras reached under her shirt and unhooked her bra, letting Integra remove it. "If you'd like, we can... you know... in here."
Integra unbuttoned Seras' shirt and kissed both of her breasts. After a moment of fondling, Integra stopped and looked Seras in the eye. "Perhaps we should... retire to the bedroom." She told Seras, before buttoning her shirt.
They stood up and went to their bedroom to be more intimate with each other.
...
When the next evening came around, Integra was the first awake and noticed a message from The Queen on her phone. 'Please gather with us tonight for the knighting ceremony.'
Integra nudged Seras awake. "Hm? Night again already?" She asked as she started coming to.
"Yes, dear. We must quickly bathe and dress our best. Her Highness requests our presence for the knighting ceremony."
They put on light robes, gathered their best dress uniforms and went to take a quick bath together. After drying off and dressing, they left through the garage, where a limo was waiting for them.
After a short ride, they arrived at the palace grounds, where they would meet with Oahu Joe and Plaid Jeff. "You've certainly come a long way, haven't you?" Integra asked them.
"We sure have. We've gone from simple werewolf hunters to being knighted." Joe answered.
"By Her Highness, no less. This is incredible." Jeff added.
The ceremony proper began and The Queen asked them to step forward. Joe knelt on the stool before Her Highness. She tapped him on the shoulders with the Knighting sword, then said "Oahu Joseph, for your service to the people of the United Kingdom and of the world, and for your gallantry in battle against the forces of evil that befell London, I pronounce you Sir Oahu Joseph. Stand as you would before God."
Joe stood and looked to almost be ready to shed a tear. "Your Majesty, I graciously accept this title and will faithfully discharge my duties for the Crown."
Plaid Jeff stepped up next, then knelt on the stool, followed by Her Highness tapping him on the shoulders with the Knighting sword. "Plaid Jeff, in recognition for your service to the people of the United Kingdom and of the world, for your gallantry in battle against the forces of evil that befell London, I pronounce you Sir Plaid Jeff. Stand as you would before God."
Jeff stood and also had a look of immense pride and gratitude about him. "Your Highness, I gratefully accept this title and will always offer my sword and my gun in defense of the crown."
Her Majesty took her seat and dismissed them. They would be applauded and cheered as they took their leave.
...
Several days later, Integra was woke up by the emergency phone ringing just before she was planning to wake up. "This had better be important." She grumbled into the phone.
"Yes, ma'am. Dreadful news. It appears Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth ii has passed on. They say she went quietly in her sleep."
Being fully aware of what was going on, Integra knew she wasn't really gone, but she had to pretend. "Is this your idea of a sick joke? I was just with her a few days ago and she was the picture of health for her age."
"Ma'am, death is a subject I do not take lightly. Prince Philip discovered her earlier."
Integra hung up the phone. Seras was stirring awake. "Darling, what's the matter?"
"You've been able to see my thoughts, correct?" To which Seras nodded a yes. "Publicly, we should appear distraught."
"Of course. What ever shall we do?" Then it hit Seras. "Wait, that means you'll ascend to the throne. That means I'll need to swear myself to you. That means I'll be-"
Integra interrupted her with a kiss. "A princess? I would think so. And yes, you'll swear yourself to me. It's tradition. For now, we should prepare to... See the body, as it were."
"How should we prepare?"
"Dress in your finest and we will go."
They dressed and headed for the garage, telling the driver where they needed to go. Even the driver seemed upset at the news. He took out his duties and drove them. People were filling the streets near the castle, making the drive slower. The limo made it onto the grounds and they disembarked inside. They were escorted inside by the Royal guard.
The doctor was leaving and had a sad look about him. "I can only imagine how hard that must've been." Integra said calmly.
"I know. Imagine being the doctor that has to tell the world that Her Highness has passed on." Seras added.
Integra approached the bedside, where Prince Philip was kneeling and crying. "Sir, she led a life both long and full. She's in God's hands now." She told him, the both of them being well aware of the ruse.
"Sir Integra, what will I do? I know, in death we part, but it's still so hard."
"Be thankful for the time spent with her."
"Yes, I suppose you're right."
Integra stepped up to look at her. She opened her right eye, looked at Integra and winked, then closed her eye again. "May you rest in peace, Your Highness."
After some time spent at the castle, the Hellsing wives left for home. The ride home was quiet and uneventful. They retired to Integra's office, sitting together on the loveseat. "I think we pulled that off." Seras chirped.
"I think so, too. Now, not to make light of recent events, but I think we should start trying to conceive. To have an heir or heiress, as it were."
"We'll need to find a donor. We'll be doing it artificially."
"Artificially? Like, injecting you with a sample from a man?"
Seras moved so she was sitting on Integra's lap, facing her. "Surely, you don't expect me to physically mate with anyone but you."
Integra started kissing the side of her neck. "Not at all. That's my job and mine alone."
