Stein and Ray brought everyone from the refuge onboard the Waverider to save them all from the giant robot that's almost on top of them.
"Gideon, power the engines and get us into the air the moment the last refugee is aboard." Rip tells the computer as the footsteps are getting louder and closer. "And get the weapons system online."
Everyone races towards their seats and begin to take off as they come face to face with a gigantic robot that swings at them and Rip tries to shoot it down but fails as the robot grabs them and sends them flying after tossing them across the open field.
Everyone begins to wake up after being tossed around the ship.
"Gideon, what's the condition of the ship?" Rip asks as he gets up.
"I'm going to go with lousy." Gideon announces.
"Shut down all essential systems so Savage's robot-" Rip was saying when Gideon interrupts him.
"Too late, Captain; apparently, it has determined you are still alive, because it is closing in on our location."
"Okay, then what do we do?" Peter asks.
"Gideon, how much time do we have?" Rip asks as the whole room sparks and keeps breaking each passing second.
"I estimate the robot should reach our location within the hour. Our propulsion engine was severely damaged in the crash and is no longer functioning."
"Where does that leave us?" Sara asks.
"All right, our only option is to take the Jumpship and try and outrun it." Rip says and starts to lead the way to the Jumpship when Stein stops him.
"The Jumpship seats ten. The cargo bay's filled with refugees." Stein reminds him.
"I'm well aware."
"Well, we can't just leave them there; we..." Stein was arguing before he felt a pain in his side and notices he was stabbed, followed by Jax who collapse.
"Martin!" "Jax!" Everyone shouts at once as they help the two of them to the medical bay and see that Jax isn't really injured, he just feels the injuries from Stein.
"I've administered them a sedative, they should be comfortable." Gideon promises as she begins to try and fix Stein.
Seeing they can't leave their teammates behind, they prepare to fight off the robot as Snart makes his way through the wrecked halls and back towards the cell.
"I was wrong. Your dad's a gem." Snart corrects himself as he walks to the door of the cell.
"He's just doing what he must to save his daughter." Cassie states with a smile on her face.
"Whatever you say." Snart replies, having enough of this family. "Now where was I? Oh, right. Convincing you to help us."
"What a charming euphemism for interrogation." Cassie replies.
"I know you're thinking; My dad may not be prefect, but deep down, he's not a bad guy." Snart could see through what she thinks and opens the doors to her cell.
"What are you doing?" Cassie asks, not understanding his plan.
"Showing you that when it comes to crap fathers, there is no deep down." Snart explains as he then leads her through the halls where the refugees are all terrified and or injured. "These are the ones we could save. The rest are ash, much like Delta Camp."
"You don't know my father at all if you think his daughter could be so easily manipulated."
"Just trying to show you the truth." Snart tells her whilst shrugging his shoulders.
"The truth is, my father was trying to save me."
"From what, untrained civilians with barely any weapons?" Snart questions. "Your father sent a 200-foot robot to level a bunch of tents."
"The people in that camp were rebels, dangerous radicals."
"Please." Snart scoffs. "Do these people look like radicals to you?" He asks, gesturing around to the people who were either starving or sick, or who are just holding onto their loved ones. "They're nobodies; everyday folk hoping to survive your father's reign of terror. Look, took me a long time to accept my father was a monster. I'm betting you're smarter than I am."
"At last, something we agree on." Cassie says as Snart continues to walk her through the halls.
"Oh, Per Degaton didn't release the Armageddon Virus." Snart informed her what Peter found out.
"Impossible. He was only Per Degaton's tutor."
"Per Degaton was only a teenager at the time. He was hardly a criminal mastermind at the time." Snart states. "Your father, however..."
"What makes you think I'd believe anything you tell me?" Cassie asks.
"Because seeing is believing." Snart tells her. "Gideon, show her the footage you showed the kid."
A screen near them activated and showed her the same footage Peter saw of Savage saying they needed to kill some population.
"This isn't true." Cassie states in shock. "You're a liar."
"Correct." Snart admits. "But not about this. And you know it...deep down."
Ray prepares to save the ship by fighting the giant robot, as everyone else go to break into Savage's headquarters with help from Cassie while Kendra tags along so they can finally put an end to him.
Cassie draws him out while the other four wait for their time to strike.
"I've been so worried." Savage tells Cassie. "How did you...?"
"I am your daughter." Cassie says with a fake smile. "Did you really think some rabble could hold me captive?"
"Rabble? These are the time travelers I have warned you about." Savage informed her, when he noticed her bracelet was missing. "Your bracelet. It's gone."
"I...I must've lost it in my escape." Cassie quickly lies.
Savage doesn't buy it and grabs her wrist before twisting it. "As the person who tutored you in the art of deceit, you cannot fool me, Cassandra."
"Like you fooled me?" Cassie asks back, dropping the happy persona. "You told me my mother died from the Armageddon Virus. But you were the one who released it. Tell me it isn't true. I might even pretend to believe you. Let me go."
"Call them." Savage demands. "Call the ones that you no doubt helped gain access to my bunker."
With that, Rip comes out with his gun raised. "No need to trouble yourself, Miss Savage. We're already here." He says as Snart also comes out of hiding.
"Oh, I admire your command of irony, Rip Hunter." Savage says as Mick, Sara and Peter come out of hiding from behind. "Using my own child against me."
"Sorry to say it didn't take much." Snart informed him.
"None at all, you ass." Mick interrupts.
"They've shown me the truth of what you've done." Cassie tells Savage as she joined the others. "The innocent-"
"Do not speak as if you know about ruling a people." Savage stops her and begins to approach his daughter. "Do you really want to align your fate with these...pretenders?"
"Prefer to be a pretender than a killer." Peter told Savage as a swarm of his men come in and they all get ready for a fight.
Savage began to walk away until he got a vision of Kendra. "You do realize she can do me no harm?"
"Clearly, you didn't get the memo." Mick says.
"We found a way to make a weapon from a bracelet." Peter jokes as Kendra comes flying in and sends Savage flying across the room and the two begin to fight it to the death.
Sara pulls out her staff and begins to fight off two guards off at once, Mick tackles one of them, Snart uses his cold gun on them from a distance, Rip shoots them whilst Peter just keeps flipping and quipping.
"Just a heads up, I might have to take a call while we fight. Nothing personal, you just aren't very important!" Peter says as he flips up and over a landing and uses it to hold them up in the air.
"How many quips can you come up with during a fight?" Sara asks as she smacks another agent with her staff.
"How much time you got?" Peter quips as he leaps into the air, uses his webs to yank himself down and slams into the guy.
Kendra and Savage are still fighting it out until Kendra gets the upper hand and goes for the final strike just as a new agent comes up and tries to stop her.
Kendra was able to fight him off, knocking his helmet off in the process and goes for his head when she is shocked to look and see the man's face.
It's Carter.
"Your love...reincarnated." Savage states as he gets back up, limping in pain. "He doesn't even remember who he was...and he never will. When I first discovered him, when I found out that he had no idea about his real identity, I took my precautions and I locked his mind away."
"You brainwashed him!" Kendra says and races to strike him down.
"Kill me! But do so knowing that I am the only one holding the key to his mind." Savage states and now Kendra is hesitating on doing so.
The rest of the team are finishing up the soldiers as Rip checks on Kendra and Savage.
"Kendra, what are you waiting for?" Rip asks. "Finish him!"
"Destroy me, and you doom him." Savage keeps reminding her.
"It's Carter." Kendra tells Rip who looks and sees Carter unconscious.
"Guys, they're calling reinforcements!" Sara warns them
"Whatever you plan on doing Kendra, do it!" Mick shouts as more keep coming.
"Okay, I'm here to kick butts and make quips, and I'm running out of quips!" Peter quips as he keeps flipping and bouncing off of the groups heads.
"If I kill Savage, his mind will be lost." Kendra says.
"And if don't, I will lose my wife and son." Rip reminds her.
"Well, my love, what's it gonna be, huh?" Savage asks as Kendra gives up and lets him go and bursts into tears.
"I'm sorry, Rip. I can't. " Kendra says as Rip walks over and knocks him out.
"We need to get them back to the ship." Rip says the plan as they all make their way out.
Stein and Jax wake up later, perfectly healthy and happy and Ray was able to defeat the giant robot.
Rip sees the ship is ready to go and decides to pay a visit with Savage.
"You seem quite happy for a man behind bars." Rip takes notice.
"Why shouldn't I be happy? It seems that you once again have failed to kill me." Savage states.
"A momentary setback, I assure you." Rip promises.
"Assure yourself. Providence has allowed me to place Chay-Ara in an impossible situation: a choice between her soulmate and yours."
"A friend recently suggested to me there's no such thing as fate. Destiny is nothing but a sum of our own choices."
"I see. So you still think there's hope for your family. Time will tell, Captain." Savage says as he approaches the cell doors.
Peter was sitting in his usual seat in the main room of the ship as he gets a headache.
But this can't be just a headache, because as they come and go, he sees things.
Things that don't make a lot of sense to him.
He hears cheering, yelling, laughing.
He sees people, people with smiles, tears in their eyes.
He feels hope, happy...loved.
He's suddenly brought back to reality by Mick clinking some glass as he walks in with beer. "Mission...almost accomplished."
"That bottle of scotch was given to me by Rob Roy McGregor in 1689." Rip tells him as Mick drinks it down as fast as he could.
"It's not half bad." Mick comments on the drink as he passes it to Sara.
"We should be toasting to Savage's death." Sara tells him.
"Apart from celebrating murder, Savage still has Carter brainwashed." Stein reminds them.
"I don't know if you've been paying attention, Professor, but murdering Savage was always the plan." Snart reminds him.
"Besides, Carter reincarnates, which is more than I can say about us." Mick says.
"As long as he's on board and breathing, Savage is a threat to everyone on this ship." Snart continues on.
"Eh, maybe not everyone." Peter replies, feeling he could at the best dodge all of Savage's attacks he could send and hide from him if needed to.
"Point taken." Snart admits in defeat.
"So what, we just kill Savage and leave Carter a brainless drone?" Kendra asks.
"Can't Gideon fix him?" Peter questions as he looks to the ceiling. "Didn't you say you can fix brain damage? Isn't brainwashing another word for brain damage?"
"I might be able to fix some of his mind, able to at least restore his old memories, but it would take time." Gideon reports.
"And why didn't you say anything before?" Snart asks the supercomputer.
"Mr. Parker was the only one to ever ask." Gideon says as Jax and Ray return.
"Hey, so we have some news." Ray tells them.
"We ran diagnostics on Ray's suit after his battle with Savage's rock 'em sock 'em robot." Jax tells them as he pulls up some data on the computer in the middle of the room.
"The telemetry data included a comparative scan of the robot's tech." Ray says and all the normal people see is an orange bubble.
"Amazing. This neuromorphic profile is astonishingly futuristic." Stein said in amazement.
"Yeah, it's from 2166." Kendra reminds him.
"Actually, it's not." Jax corrects her.
"This technology is lightyears ahead of anything in 2166." Ray explains to them, only confusing everyone, all except Snart.
"Who cares?" Snart asks.
"The Time Masters." Rip answers. "The refuse to take action against Savage because he didn't pose a threat to the timeline. But if he comes into possession of future technology, it must mean he's been engaging in exactly the same manipulation of time the Time Council were designed to prevent."
"So now they'll finally sign off on undoing all the damage Savage has done to the world." Sara puts together.
"Gideon, what's the status of the time drive?" Rip asks as he grabs the bottle from Sara in happiness.
"Stable, Captain." Gideon reports.
"Plot a course for the vanishing point." Rip commands as he takes a drink. "Tonight, Vandal Savage faces justice for his crimes."
Carter was currently unconscious whilst Gideon began fixing his brain.
Snart was wandering the halls and came across Peter who was having another headache.
"You doing okay, kid?" Snart asks, snapping Peter back to reality.
"I've got a headache. It's been happening a lot recently." Peter explains while rubbing his head. "Gideon says it's nothing. At least nothing she can do about it."
"When did these start?" Snart wonders.
"Maybe back after we kidnapped our younger selves." Peter guesses.
Snart thinks back to what he did and wonders if he had something to do with this.
"I'm sure it's nothing." Snart says.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but Captain Hunter has requested everyone be seated. We are approaching the Vanishing Point." Gideon tells them.
"Looks like our journey is coming to an end." Snart supposes.
"Yep. Back to the warehouse and old mattress." Peter guesses as they made their way to their seats.
Vanishing Point
The Waverider appears in almost what looks like deep space and a giant city floating in the center.
"Welcome to the Vanishing Point." Rip tells the team.
"Not gonna lie, was expecting more." Snart confesses as the ship stops with a jolt.
"What's going on?" Sara asks.
"We seem to have lost control of the ship." Rip says as they get dragged into the landing bay. "Might have to do with how we're the most wanted criminals in history."
"Timeship Waverider, we've taken control of your guidance systems. Disable your weapons and prepare to be boarded." Someone they haven't seen before.
"Oh, it's good to be home." Rip tells him.
"Captain Hunter. This is unexpected."
"Well, I have a reputation to maintain, don't I?" Rip jokes before getting back to serious. "And I hereby request an immediate assembly of the Time Council in accordance with General Order 52."
"So you've returned to answer for your crimes"?
"No. I'm here to justify them." Rip states as he goes to bring Savage to them, leaving the rest of the team on the ship.
Peter was playing some games back in his room, waiting with others for word from Rip about what's going on when his senses went off.
Kendra stayed with Carter, who was still unconscious after Gideon finished fixing his brain.
Snart and Mick were in the kitchen as Mick was stuffing his mouth with anything he could find.
"Why are all snacks in the future sugar free?" Mick questions in disgust.
"So much for progress." Snart jokes as he has a bad feeling. "You remember Alexa?"
"Yeah, from the security deposit job." Mick remembers as he keeps trying to find something to eat. "What about it?"
"Just had a feeling, a sixth sense of my own, that things would end badly." Snart explains.
"And they would have, if you hadn't have pulled us out of there." Mick says. "So what?"
"I'm getting the same feeling right now." Snart tells him, causing Mick to look scared as they hear a bang in the distance.
Stein was in the main room with Jax when a swarm of men come in and arrest them.
Sara was walking through the halls when she has a dozen guns pointed at her.
Everyone else was immediately captured as one man opened the doors to Peter's room to see it's empty and looks to see the air vent is open.
Snart and Mick were still figuring out what to do as Peter quickly made it over to them, wearing his casual Spider-Man suit.
"What's going on, kid?" Snart asks him as Peter quickly ran up to the doors and quickly started webbing them closed.
"That'll give us some time." Peter whispers to himself.
"What's happening?" Mick asks, not understanding what he's doing.
"We've been sold out." Peter tells them as he walks over to the other set of doors and keeps his ear against it to listen for footsteps. "The Time Masters are coming for us."
"You got a plan, I'm guessing?" Snart asks.
"The Jumpship. We get there, and more of the plan is yet to come." Peter tells them, still working out the details.
"I like this kid." Mick tells Snart.
"And what about the team?" Snart asks Peter.
"Don't worry. I have a plan." Peter promises, even though the plan is crazy.
Rip was in a hexagon cell with the rest of the team surrounding him, all except for Kendra and Carter.
"Druce's men have taken your ship." Savage reports to Rip. "Your friends are under arrest. All except for three, who seemed to have taken the Jumpship and escaped. Can't say I blame them." Rip turns to face him in anger. "I'd better be getting back to 2166. I've been waiting a long time to meet your family."
Rip yells and slams against the forcefield that is stopping him from escaping.
