"Shizuo!" Tom yelled, rushing up to the blond. "Glad to see you made it in one piece!"
Tom looked down at the unconscious raven in his hands.
"Yeah, can't say the same for him. He needs medical attention. Do we have any medpa—"
The ship shook hard, the two—along with Kasuka—losing their balance. Shizuo managed to keep his footing by spreading his feet out. Tom fell on his rump while Kasuka leaned against the wall hard.
"TANAKA!" Togusa yelled through the intercom. "GET ON THE GUNS!"
"Ri-right!" Tom pushed himself to his feet as he looked at Shizuo. "Check the medbay! It's in there!"
Tom pointed to a door behind them. He then turned and ran off.
"Strap yourselves down quick!"
"R-Right!"
Shizuo turned as well and ran into the room. The blond, followed by Kasuka, went into the medical bay. The ship shook once again, but the Sith remained stable. Shizuo placed the raven on a silver table as a medical droid hobbled over.
"Hello," The mechanical voice said, "I am 2-8B medical droid. How may I—"
"He was in the vacuum of space without a rebreather or space suit on!" Shizuo glared at the droid. "Check his vitals and run a bioscan on his brain."
"Understood."
The ship shook hard, hard enough that Shizuo and Kasuka fell to the floor.
"Kasuk—" Shizuo started, but another tremor tore threw the ship. This one felt like something broke on the ship, as it was followed by a terrible groan of metal. Shizuo grabbed his little brother's arm instinctively.
'What the hell is that Togusa guy doing?!' Shizuo thought as he clenched his teeth hard.
The two Sith managed to sit upright, and Shizuo helped his brother to his feet.
The ship rattled once again. This one wasn't nearly as powerful as some of the others, but it was enough to knock the two to the floor once again. Such a thing caused Shizuo's brows furrow in a scowl and irritation to bubble in his chest.
"Son of a—Kasuka, watch the Jedi!" Shizuo pushed himself to his feet.
"Where are you going, brother?" Kasuka grabbed the edge of the table and pulled himself up.
"The cockpit! I'll be back in a bit! Sit down on one of the med-beds and watch the Jedi! He's a sneaky little flea!"
Without waiting for Kasuka to respond, Shizuo bolted out of the room. He ran full speed across the main hold. It was quite the distance, as it was easily 100 feet. Eventually, however, within a few minutes, he made it to the bridge.
Kadota looked over his shoulder to the door opening. "You should be in the medical bay! There's no way you're in a healthy state after being in space naked!"
"I'm fin—!" The ship shook from a blaster bolt bouncing off their shields.
Shizuo saw the green flame dance across the blue deflector shield and splatter away. The blond tilted precariously, but he leaned against the wall to keep himself from falling over. Togusa's hands were on the navigational handle, jerking the ship left, right, up, and down. He even swung the ship in a corkscrew motion. Luckily, ships had a gravitational pull to keep the crew from bouncing off the ceiling, but it was still a dizzying experience that made Shizuo's head spin. He successfully dodged blaster bolts with expertise, only a stray spark of green hitting them. The shields were definitely working, so there was no fear they would blow up. For now.
"Can you get us out of this?!" Shizuo yelled.
"Of course, he can!" Kadota called. "He's the best pilot I know!"
"So long as Tanaka and Yumasaki man the gun's right," Togusa growled, a smile plastered to his face. "I can get us out of here, no problem!"
Almost immediate proof to his statement, a Republic X-Wing crossed their path. Togusa swerved to the left while the blasters went off. In the blink of an eye, the battleship was gone, turned into a smoldering explosion.
"We've taken heavy fire already!" Shizuo walked over on shaky legs and grabbed the back of Kadota's seat to keep himself stable. "How many times has a blaster bolt bounced off our shields?!"
"I've got this! Quit doubting me!"
Shizuo clenched his teeth. He wanted to doubt him. He didn't know this man, so he didn't know if he was actually capable. But Kadota trusted him, and Shizuo trusted Kadota. So, he wouldn't badger Togusa with his concerns. For all he knew, the doubt would cloud his ability to pilot and get them killed.
'Can he really get us out of here?' Shizuo's hands tightened on Kadota's headrest.
The brown-haired man looked at the rear display, seeing another Republic X-wing behind them. Without warning, Togusa turned the steering mechanism sharply to the left before turning off the engine entirely. The ship slowed significantly but maintained its momentum as it spun in a full 180 degrees. The X-Wing pursuing them flew past. The engines were turned back on and now Togusa was flying away from the X-Wing. Their blaster bolts shot behind them, coming out in prominent fury. Within seconds, the X-Wing disappeared from the rear display.
A Republic battleship drifted closer from the left. However, it was nonthreatening. It matched their pace instead of coming at them head-on. The two flew side by side. All three Sith looked at it in question.
"What—"
The communication transmitter went off, beeping incessantly. Their eyes stretched even wider in surprise.
"Are they trying to contact us?" Shizuo voiced.
"Why?"
Another Republic battleship came in from the right, matching their pace. It drifted close, much closer than an enemy ship should in the height of a battlefield. Together, the two ships began guiding the Interceptor. They pushed in close, coaxing the Sith ship to go in their desired direction. However, they were still not making threatening acts.
"What is going on?" Kadota voiced.
"Is it possible they know the Jedi's on the ship?" Shizuo looked at the two.
Kadota looked over his shoulder at him. "Where's the Jedi?!"
"You didn't leave him in space?!" Togusa accused.
"Why would I leave him in space when it was his idea that got us here?!" Shizuo yelled, glaring at the pilot. He then looked at Kadota. "He's in the med-bay."
"You left him unsupervised?!"
"Of course not! Kasuka's with him!"
"He has to have a tracer on him!" Kadota announced then reached for the intercom button. "Kasuka, check—"
He fell silent as a shadow cast over them. All their eyes stretched wide before they quickly looked up. A Republic command ship was hovering over them.
'No way. Why would the command ship come for a single Jedi?'
Something on the control panel beeped. Togusa looked down at it.
"Shit! It's honing in on us with their tractor beam!" Togusa proclaimed.
Shizuo jolted. "Wait, what?! It wants to take us in?!"
"They have to know the Jedi's onboard!" Kadota yelled.
"Well, too bad!"
Togusa reached forward to the navigation computer. He input coordinates.
Shizuo cocked a brow. "What do you—"
Immediately, Togusa grabbed the lever to the hyperdrive and slammed it forward full force. Shizuo's eyes stretched wide with realization.
There was a loud flare from the engines as the ship jolted forward. Then all was silent. The sound of space battle disappeared. The blaster bolts, exploding ships, and roaring engines faded away. The ships disappeared as well. Everything just vanished. The only thing they could see was the white streaks of stars flashing past them and all they could hear was the whirling of the hyperdrive.
"Are you crazy?!" Shizuo yelled, glaring at Togusa. "If their tractor beam had locked on, you could have ripped the ship apart!"
"But they didn't." Togusa turned around with a smile on his face. "See, we're fine."
Shizuo glowered.
Kadota let out a heavy sigh of relief as he leaned back in his seat. "That was reckless, but it worked. Let's let it be, Shizuo."
The blond grumbled, but didn't say anything more on the subject. Instead, he breathed a breath of relief. He sat down in the closest seat, practically falling into it. As the adrenaline finally died down, the stress of everything finally reached his body. He felt fatigued. He was so cold and he had a slight headache. He just needed to sit for a moment.
"What happened to the Jedi?" Kadota asked, turning his chair around to make eye contact with Shizuo.
Shizuo looked up. "I told you. He's in the med-bay. Kasuka's watching him."
"Are you sure it was alright to leave them alone like that?" Togusa asked.
"He's unconscious. I'm not even sure if he'll wake up." Shizuo crossed his arms and leaned back completely. "His nose was bleeding and he was cold to the touch."
"I'm sure you're pretty cold too." Togusa cocked a brow in obvious judgment. "You were just in space without a spacesuit."
Shizuo glowered. "You don't bleed in space. And if you do, you're losing oxygen faster. For all I know he's brain dead now."
"No offense, but how did you survive and he didn't? You guys were out in space for the same length of time."
Shizuo paused, before averting his gaze. Survivors guilt mixed with a prickle of shame twisted his chest.
"He had a rebreather." The blond said, "He gave it to me."
Both their eyes widened.
"Wait," Togusa started, "did he only have one?"
"...Yeah."
"Why did he give it to you?!"
"Like I know!" Shizuo glared. "He just told you guys to come get us from space then gave me the rebreather!"
The room fell quiet. Shizuo glowered for a moment longer before he cast his gaze to the ground. His brows furrowed with confliction.
'Is it because of that talk we had?' He thought. 'Did he feel like I was a kindred spirit? He was following me in the storage bay. He could have killed me, or at the very least jumped me. But he chose not to. Why? Maybe...maybe he didn't plan to kill anyone from the start? Maybe the mission was just to destroy the ship?'
Shizuo glowered. Hope flared in his chest for a second. A small twinge of comradery. A flicker of mercy mixed with the naive ideology the Jedi could be a friend. That Jedi's and Sith's could be friends.
Shizuo shook his head to banish such a ludicrous thought.
'No, I doubt that. He probably was just using me as his lead. He probably didn't know the ship that well. And he probably would have followed me to the ship then tried to kill me while my back is turned.'
The blond let out a sigh.
'Like Sith and Jedi could ever want anything but each others heads. Those 'peacekeepers' think the only way to keep the peace is to kill all of us Sith. They'd rather soak the galaxy in our blood than come to common grounds.'
Shizuo's brows furrowed at the thought.
'No, he didn't want to spare me or anyone on the ship. He just wanted an easy way to steal our only means of escape.'
The blond looked up at the two pilots.
"Where are we heading anyway?" Shizuo asked.
The two stared at Shizuo for a moment. They were obviously still confused about the Jedi and his strange actions. But neither decided to bring it up.
"I don't know." Togusa shrugged. "I just put in random coordinates. I made sure that it wasn't in Republic space, but I don't know if it's in Sith space either."
Shizuo nodded. "Hopefully we don't get sieged by Hutt pirates."
The blond then turned around.
"I'm going to check on the Jedi."
"Okay."
Izaya woke with a splitting headache from a terribly incessant beeping. It sounded like a heart monitor, but Izaya couldn't open his eyes. Or more so, he wouldn't open his eyes. Because, along with that beeping, he heard someone talking.
"...thing wrong with him." A mechanical voice said.
"You're certain?" A calm, male voice said. "He was in the vacuum of space and bleeding from his nose."
"Vitals are all normal. Breathing is regular and brainwaves are as expected."
"Check his brainwaves again. Make sure, please."
Izaya didn't move, but he didn't like hearing that.
'If he checks my brainwave, they'll know I'm awake.'
"I assure you, that is not necessary. His brainwaves are—"
"Check again. This man saved nii-san's life."
'Nii-san? Ah, that's right, that beastly man did say he had a brother.'
"The least we can do is make sure he'll continue to function mentally."
'Oh, please. You just don't want me to die because you want to interrogate me. There's no reason to lie to a droid.'
"Understood."
Izaya heard the metal footsteps of the droid walking towards him.
'One chance.'
Izaya reached out with the force, to see what his eyes couldn't. Through the force, he was able to map the room. He saw a foot away from him was a Sith with longer hair. On his hip was a lightsaber. Exactly what Izaya needed. He could only assume the droid was in the direction he was facing—which was away from Izaya since the Sith's back was towards him.
He heard the droid getting closer him.
'Now!'
Izaya's eyes flared open as he threw his hand out towards the droid. The metal humanoid flew back. The Sith's eyes stretched wide before the droid slammed into him at a crushing force. The wind was knocked out of the man as he hacked loudly. At the same moment, Izaya pulled his hand back towards him. The lightsaber flew off the Sith's hip, across the room, to Izaya's hand.
As the brown-haired Sith fell to the floor with the droid on top of him, Izaya jumped off the table. He activated the heavier saber, the red laser crackling—so very different from a Jedi's saber but still easy to use. He swung his hand at the droid. The force lifted the black robot and threw it against the wall hard. The droid broke on impact. Sparks flew and the metal crunched. Before the Sith could stand, Izaya leaped on top of him, sitting on his chest, and put the saber to his throat.
"Move, and die." Izaya smiled down at the Sith. "Cooperate, and maybe I'll let you see your brother again."
