8. Bloodbath
My long claws dig into the dirt under the light of the full moon. I swiftly dart through the forest while avoiding the tall trees. I know the dark cloaked vampires are after me, but they are far enough away that their powers can't reach me. I hope that everyone has received my warnings. I start to smell the familiar scent of my friends. Wolves, Children of the Moon, and Vampires alike, their scents are growing stronger. I just have to hold on a little longer. Suddenly, I am struck with paralyzing pain. I try to will myself to move, but the pain has frozen me in place. I can hear the Volturi coming behind me. I'm left here vulnerable, like a sheep to the slaughter. Death seems like a better alternative than the pain that I am feeling right now. I just hope that they make it quick.
My pain suddenly lifts and I'm able to move again. I crane me head around to see where my assailants are. They've stopped dead in their tracks. Absolute shock and fear is written all over their faces. I turn to see my allies charging towards them. I quickly calculated our number. There were 51 of us, including me. The Children of the Moon led the way. They were eager to get their revenge on the Volturi. The Vampires were right behind them with the wolves coming towards the Volturi from both sides. Leah was leading the wolves from the right side and Jacob was leading the ones on the left. It was sure to be a bloodbath.
Bodies piled into each other as the two opposing forces met. It was instant chaos. Body parts started flying everywhere. Fires were starting to burn all around. I fought my way through a crowd of vampires to join Leah. Everyone was holding their ground, but the Volturi were starting to gain the upper hand. While I was fighting two vampires, I noticed that Leah was being overwhelmed. I viciously tossed the two vampires to the ground and tore them apart. I ran to Leah and tossed one of the vampires that was on her in the air while she tore the other's head off. The vampire that I tossed was caught in the air by a dark gray wolf that I had never seen before. The wolf appeared to lunge out of the woods from the shadows. It seemed to stop all of the wolves in their tracks. "I can't believe it. It's Taha Aki." Leah's amazed voice shouted inside my head. The wolves all began to howl and really around the great chief who disappeared into the woods as a wolf after his imprint was killed. We started to gain the upper hand. I started tearing through Volturi guards like they were nothing. Bella easily pulled Jane apart and burned her pieces while Edward destroyed Alec during his brief period of mourning. The numbers of the Volturi and their guard were dwindling. I couldn't help but notice that our numbers were lower as well. Jacob and Leah took down Demetri. I found myself in a one on one battle with Felix. He was extremely strong. We each struggled for a moment to gain the upper hand until he tried to get his hands in position to break my neck. With a swift movement of my body, I kicked him off of me and pounced on top of him digging my large claws into his eyes. I planted my back legs firmly onto his shoulders and ripped his head off of his body in one motion, tossing his head into the fire. Marcus was taken down by two of the Children of the Moon. Aro and Caius tried to flee when they realized that there was no hope for them. Icarus and Zeke seemed to give each other a mischievous grin as they went after Caius. The other Children of the Moon went after Aro. Aro pleaded with them once he was cornered, but they weren't in the mood for talking. They quickly devoured him. Icarus and Zeke had a little fun torturing Caius before they devoured him as well. The Volturi was completely wiped out, including the wives. Tall flames burned all over. The wolves howled in victory. The Cullens and their friends were hugging and celebrating the great victory. I nudged my giant wolf-head against Leah's in affection. We had won a great battle, but it didn't come without loss.
