CHAPTER EIGHT

"Wade, is that you?" Wolverine asked Weapon XI. "Guess Stryker finally found a way to shut you up."

Standing before Wolverine was a creation of William Stryker's. Wade Wilson aka Weapon XI was enhanced with all the abilities of many mutants that had been rounded up over the course of time. His mouth was sewn shut and as he stared at Wolverine, a katana was extended from each fist, much in the same way that Wolverine's adamantium claws were extended.

Wolverine then extended his own claws in preparation for the battle to come...

Which was suddenly interrupted by a sudden shot to Weapon XI's head. He fell to the ground sideways and Deadpool came into view from around the corner.

"Hey, it's me, don't scratch." He announced with a wave. "Just cleaning up the timeline." He then proceeded to put several more rounds into the prostrate Weapon XI before walking away and announcing to Wolverine, "Love you."

Deadpool then rounded a corner, adjusting the Temporal Dial to 2010, "Now to go put a bullet in Ryan Reynolds' head before he can make that God awful movie, Green Lantern."

He didn't expect to run into himself along with Cable and Professor Charles Xavier. At the sight of Cable, he stepped back in alarm. "Wow, fancy running into you, Cable. Bet you're wondering what I'm doing here? Well, what I'm not doing is messing with your time travelling thingy and changing shit. That's for sure."

Xavier and Cable both looked at the Deadpool that was with them and Cable said, "This is a prime example of damaging the timeline, Deadpool."

Deadpool shrugged. "It seemed a good idea at the time."

The Deadpool of that timeline asked, "Wait, why are their two of me." He thought a moment. "I broke the timeline, didn't I?"

"Not yet," Cable said. He then punched that Deadpool in the face who then proceeded to fall on his backside. "That's for stealing my Temporal Dial."

The Deadpool of now rubbed his own jaw. "Hey, you already punched me for that!"

Cable shrugged. "It just felt right punching you so soon after you stole my device." He then pointed his finger at the other Deadpool who was getting back on his feet. "Now head back to 2018 and return the Temporal Dial back to me!"

"No can do," the other Deadpool announced as he adjusted the device. "I have to go back to an abandoned warehouse and wait for Kitty Pryde not to show up for the next three years. See you around."

With that he disappeared, leaving the three of them standing their alone.

"Wow." Deadpool said.

"What?" Cable asked.

"I just created my own timeline discrepancy," Deadpool said. "No way did the me of then know that I'd be waiting in a warehouse for three years for this fanfiction story to resume."

They then saw in the distance that Weapon XI slowly started to get back up after being shot several times by the other timeline Deadpool.

Deadpool took out his dual katanas. "That imposter still isn't dead. I'm gonna go decapitate him real quick!"

As he started toward Weapon XI, Cable tackled him to the ground. "Have you not been listening, Wade!? Stop interfering with shit!"

So, while Cable held Deadpool at bay, the events that had transpired in 1979 continued to unfold as it once had. Wolverine and Weapon XI had their showdown that brought them to the top of a cooling tower, where Victor Creed then also joined the fight and fought alongside Wolverine.

In the new timeline, Weapon XI didn't have Scott Summers' ability though as he wasn't captured by Victor Creed in the new timeline. Instead he had Alex Summers aka Havok's powers and the energy blast shot from his chest instead. Before long, Wolverine chopped Weapon XI's head off and as his body fell inside the cooling tower, the energy beam shot from his chest, causing the cooling tower to come crashing down.

Wolverine and Victor Creed said their goodbyes and then Wolverine ran to find his girlfriend who had been shot and was dying and then he himself would get shot in the head with an adamantium bullet by William Stryker, thus losing his memories.

Xavier said. "I remember rescuing many unique students from this excursion. Alex Summers had sent a distress signal to me before being captured by Victor Creed and that was how I found this place."

Deadpool pushed Cable, who was still detaining him, off of him. "That still doesn't explain how that sewned mouth version of me still exist in this timeline."

Xavier stared at him for a long moment before saying, "You're still assuming that was you, are you?"

"Who the hell else could it be?" Deadpool asked. "His name was Wade Wilson."

"And what was your father's name?" Xavier asked.

Deadpool pointed a finger in Xavier's face. "Don't bring up that dead beat of a father to me."

"Indulge me," Xavier said. "What was his name?"

Deadpool sighed. "It was Wade Wilson also, okay. Are you happy now?"

"That would make him Wade Wilson, Sr. and you would be oWade Wilson, Jr." Xavier stated. "Which means that that mutant that Wolverine and Victor Creed just fought wasn't you at all. It was your father."

Deadpool then stopped and looked at the wreckage left behind by the cooling tower. "Dad!?"

He then started running toward where his father's decapitated body was last seen with Cable following closely behind. Xavier also followed but at a more leisurely pace in his wheel chair.

Deadpool moved the rubble around until he found his father's head which wasn't too far from his body. The head was still alive and he was looking up at Deadpool with sorrow in his eyes.

Deadpool removed his mask and knelt down and picked up his father's head. "Dad, it's me. Your son."

The headless Wade Wilson looked like he wanted to say something but couldn't due to his mouth still being sewn shut. Cable brought out a knife and handed it to Deadpool.

Deadpool nodded his thanks as he began cutting the sutures from his father's lips.

Wade Wilson, Sr. gagged as he started to speak. "Thank you, son."

"You probably don't recognize me seeing as I was only two since the last time I saw you." Deadpool said.

His father smiled. "You sure have aged a lot in a year seeing as you'd be three years old right now."

"I'm from the future." Deadpool said.

"I figured," his father said. "You look just like me except for the fact that your face looks mutilated as hell. I suppose you've had some awful shit happen to you too just like your old man did."

"That's the understatement of the century." Deadpool said. "What happened? Why did you leave mom and me?"

Wade Wilson's head sighed, "I wish I never had left, son. I was offered another mission by William Stryker with Victor Creed as his messenger boy. I was bored with the day to day life of playing house and jumped at the opportunity. Little did I know that it was actually a trap to experiment on me and brainwash me into becoming a mind controlled assassin to do his biding." He then glanced over at his body that he'd been severed from. "Looks like a little decapitation was all I needed to break the mind control. Go figure, huh."

Deadpool glanced at his father's severed body. "That's no problem. I can just reattach you to your body and you'll be good as new. Trust me, I've recovered from having severed limbs more often than I'd like to count."

"That's not what I want, son." His father said. "I'm more Frankenstein's monster now than I am a man. I want to end the suffering. It's fitting that the son that I abandoned should be the one to do the deed."

Deadpool shook his head as tears began to formulate in his eyes. "Don't ask me to do that, dad. Please."

"I've never really been a good man, Wade." His father said, and tears began to form in his eyes as well. "Trust me when I say you'd be doing the world a favor."

"I'm not a good man either, dad." Deadpool argued. "You don't see me giving up and tapping out because of a few shady areas that need to be worked out."

"You'll figure it out, son." The elder Wade Wilson said. "I'm sure your mother raised you to know what's right from wrong."

Deadpool couldn't bring himself to tell his father that he'd lost her at the age of four just shortly after having learned that he too was dead.

"Dad, you're still talking to me with your head detached from your body." Deadpool pointed out. "You've got a healing factor that makes you invulnerable."

His father's eyes glanced at his detached body whose katanas were still extracted from his fists. "Those katanas are adamantium steel. Shoving one through my brain should do the trick."

Deadpool glanced at the katanas his father mentioned and then he looked away and then brought his father's forehead against his own. "You're really asking me to do this? To kill my own father?"

Tears were pouring freely now from both father and son. His father said, "I'm sorry to ask this of you, son. Please end my suffering."

Cable put a sympathetic hand on Deadpool's shoulder. "I will do it for you, Wade."

Deadpool sniffled and shook his head. "No, it has to be me. He asked me and I have to do this for him."

He then slowly stood up and walked his father's head to where the katanas were located. He stared his father in the eyes. "I really wish you hadn't left us, dad. Things could have turned out different."

His father smiled. "I know son. Maybe in our next life I can do what's right."

Then without another word passing between them, Deadpool forced the katana attached to his father's left fist through the top of his skull and Wade Wilson, Sr. ceased speaking and the life drained from his eyes.

Xavier, who had remained silent since coming onto the scene, announced. "I'm sorry, Wade. I know that this wasn't easy for you but you had to know. The shadow of your missing father has long plagued your mind for far too long and now you know."

Deadpool bolted upright and angrily said, "Need to know what, exactly!? That my father was an experimented on victim the same as I was and that I was the one to end his suffering?"

"Yes." Xavier simply stated.

"That's bullshit!" Deadpool shouted. "This whole goddamn thing is bullshit. I'm done! Done traipsing around the timeline! Done trying to make sense of a continuity that I don't even care about!"

He then started tinkering with the Temporal Dial. "We're going back. I'm sending you back to 1992 and me and Cable are going back to 2021."

"Calm down," Cable said. "I get it, Deadpool. You're hurting but we need to see this thing through till it's done."

"Oh, it's done now." Deadpool announced. "We're going back right now."

He clicked a button and the Temporal Dial went off. Xavier and Cable quickly grabbed a hold of him, but only Deadpool and Xavier disappeared, leaving Cable stuck in 1979 surrounded by the collapsed cooling tower.

He looked around at his surroundings and he saw in the distance a whole squad of police cruisers headed his way.

"Well, shit." He simply said.
