About A Girl

We walked with Sarada to the location of the Spring Festival. Once we got there she waisted no time in leaving us for her friends.

"Maybe we can go through the vendors and get something to eat." Konohamaru suggested.

"Okay," I replied.

"Great, cuz I am hungry. I, believe it or not, was very nervous about today um and forgot to eat."

I couldn't help myself, I laughed. I brought my hand to cover my mouth but was still lightly laughing.

"I'm sorry. I didn't think a shinobi of you talent would actually forget to eat."

"Well when you put it that way. It is funny."

He began to laugh with me as we continued to walk around the grounds looking for something for him to eat. He was like a bottomless pit.

"Do you think you've eaten enough?"

"Whmm,"

He looked at me, mouth full of food and it was the cutest sight I'd see all day. He swallowed almost choking, pounding on his chest to make the food go down. Then took a swig of his drink.

"Yup I'm done. Food almost killed me."

"Now that'd be a way to die."

"Don't I know it."

We got up from the table we sat at and walked around the festival. They had stalled of food, drinks, and games with extravagant prizes for top winners. It looked like even some of the little shops in the market came out with their own booths. When I was younger my mother was very protective of me and it was rare I went out to a festival like this. Knowing the things about my family that I do now, I understand why I was sheltered as a child. It was for my own protection.

"Konohamaru, Konohamaru."

We paused in our walk to see a girl who looked to be maybe a few years younger then me.

"Hey Mirai. Hatsuharu this is my cousin Mirai Sarutobi. Mirai this is Hatsuharu Uchiha, she is Sasuke Uchiha's niece."

"Oh, hello it's nice to finally meet you."

She gave a bow and I returned the gesture.

"Yes you as well."

"Hey have you seen Hanabi? I was supposed to meet her here and I can't find her anywhere."

"No, sorry Mirai we haven't seen her."

"Darn, okay then. I'll see ya around. It was nice to meet you Hatsuharu."

The girl waved bye to us and left in search of Hanabi Hyūga. We continued to walk around taking the sites.

"Okay,"

Konohamaru said with a clap of his hands.

"Now that we have pretty much walked the festival it is time for the games."

"Oh, are you any good at them."

"Am I any good at them? Sweetheart you are talking to the master of games."

"Well, we shall see."

We walked to one of the game stalls, it was a balloon popping game.

"Come on,"

He took a hold of my hand and led me closer to the game. He put money down on the counter and the attendant gave him five darts.

"Three out of five gets a prize."

The attendant told us. Konohamaru piked up his first dart and it missed, he continued to throw the darts but only got two. The attendant gave his condolences on the loss and offered a free game.

"Let me try."

I said before Konohamaru could do it again. He handed me the first dart, now being a doctor along with my training with my uncle and other elite shinobi my aim had become very good. My hit its mark with ease, and I finished all five the same way. Konohamaru stood there rubbing the back of his head. He quickly got over his slight embarrassment and pulled my head to him, kissing my temple in the process.

"I let you win."

"Whatever helps you sleep at night."

I chose my prize, that being a plush Kurama. We left and I had my prize in one hand while Konohamaru occupied the other.

"Let's try that one."

I said pointing to the water guns.

"Yes,"

We came up to the game and got into place for our own water guns.

"First to fill their tub with water wins."

The bell sounded and the game started. At first we had been evenly matched but this time Konohamaru was the winner. At the end he flashed that big cheesy grin my way, I couldn't help but smile right back at him. I now had two prizes.

"Ah, it's a good thing I brought this with me."

Konohamaru reached into his pocket and pulled out a very small scroll. With a simple hand sign it expanded to a normal sized scroll, he set it down on a near by table and opened it.

"We can store your prizes in here till you get home."

"It's a storage scroll."

"Yes,"

"This is different from the ones my mother always had. Her's did not shrink down to a more compact size."

"Team 7 have a mission coming in a few days that I am not going can stop by a scroll specialty shop and pick up a few for you."

"I would very much like that."

"Okay, it's date."

We finished putting away my prizes and walked around the festival a bit more before the fireworks show at the end. Konohamaru said he had the perfect place planned out for us to watch. We ran into some of Konohamaru's friends, they all seemed pretty nice. Though a few did inquire about where Moegi was. He was graceful in explaining that situation to the ones who asked. And the conversation on the matter would change to something more pleasant.

"So do you bring all the girls here?"

"Uh, haha, no. This is just for us."

I looked over the bridge that we walked on, the water of the creek beneath us was so clear even in the dark. We came to the middle of the bridge.

"This is going to be the best spot for the fireworks show."

He helped me to sit on the railing and held me in place so there was no chance for me to fall, he rested his head on my shoulder.

"They should be starting any second now."

And as if on command the fireworks began to light up the sky in a beautiful display of shapes and colors.

"It's so beautiful."

He came closer to my ear and whispered.

"Yes you are."

In that moment I was great full not only for the darkness but the colors of the fireworks that hid the blush I knew was making its way to my face.

"I know we haven't known each other long. But I would be lying if I said I didn't think about you every moment of every day. With you I can be myself. There is no stress of being the grandson to a Hokage or the son of two ANBU black ops. No stress of being a shinobi in general. It's just me. Hatsuharu Uchiha, will you go out with me?"

The fireworks ended and I shifted my head to look into those beautiful blue eyes that were still so vibrant in the dark.

"Yes Konohamaru Sarutobi I will go out with you."

As soon as the words left my mouth Konohamaru captured my lips with his. It was intense but not over powering. I had thought the fireworks were over but it looked as if they had one last hurrah to the show and the sky lit up once more. I was not disappointed in missing the end.

AN: I have no words to come up with a reason as to why this took so much longer then it did to finally be done. I do apologize for the very long wait and very much appreciate the patience in waiting for this new chapter. I am hoping things with get a little easier for me with my job. I was given a position to work from home and I jumped at the chance for it. It will be safer for me and my family with everything going on in the world. It is also a pay raise and will allow for me to be more attentive to my elderly fur baby that is starting to need my care and attention now in his old age. Another plus is that there will be no need for commute to my office as I can literally sit in my bed and work in my pajamas all day. This will all so free up more hours in my day for writing. So please be patient as I will be going through some training to understand the online process of my job. I am expected to begin my working from home the first week of December. 2021 is going to be a much better year. Those are the positive vibes I will be putting out from now on, for myself, my family, and all of you my lovely readers. Thank you and happy reading – itachiluv89
