I don't own BNHA
The other team she watched was Team J, Sero and Aoyama, vs Team G, Kaminari and Jirou. It was a formidable battle.
Jirou and Kaminari attempted to sneak up and electrify them. Aoyama got badly electrified and knocked unconscious. Kaminari fried his own brain, which left Jirou and Sero to face off against each other.
Jirou and Sero were both long-rage with their quirk. Sero managed to sneakily wrap his tape around her, after them exchanging blows for a while, then he threw her back, out of the window.
The timer went off, and Jirou and Aoyama were taken to Recovery Girl, meanwhile, the other two went back to the monitor room.
Kaminari wasn't much help. Sero got MVP, because he won for his team, although none of the students in these two teams had done anything wrong, unlike other teams.
All Might left to visit Deku almost instantly. Most of the students wondered why he was in such a rush, and Uraraka smiled as if she knew something they didn't.
because she did.
"Mind if I sit with you and your friends for lunch?' Someone whispered to her from behind.
"Hi, Shinsou." She smiled. "Sure, we'd love that. Right, lida?' She turned the tall boy next to her.
"Of course!' lida said, launching into a speech about how it's important to have a good relationship with all your classmates.
"If I didn't see it firsthand, I wouldn't believe someone could be this smart without an intelligence quirk."
Uraraka blushed. "Oh my god, no. Why do people keep saying that? If you knew, you wouldn't think that."
"Knew what?' He asked.
"My OTP! Hurry along now and make out already," Ashido slid up to them, smirking.
"You two look really cute together." Toru agreed from somewhere behind.
"I hate you two." Uraraka groaned.
"The year's only started, babe." Ashido licked her lips, "I've got a lot of matchmaking to do. You should be honoured I started with you two."
"Right," Shinsou said stoically.
Honoured, she says.
Deku skipped lunch and all his afternoon classes. Shinsou hadn't talked much, opting to listen to her and lida chat instead. She would have felt bad, if she didn't know that he preferred it this way.
"We're so glad you joined us. When Deku comes back, I'm sure he'll be super excited, too."
"Thanks for letting me sit with you." He nodded.
lida had asked her, while they made their way to their usual table, who Shinsou sat with before. He was horrified to know Shinsou spent his time alone. Shinsou had been too afraid of judgement to try talking to people.
"I'm glad he reached out to us, I'd hate it if he spent his time alone for the whole year." lida said.
Uraraka stared worriedly at the empty desk Bakugo occupied. While she was lost in her thought, Kaminari was requested to pick up some math textbooks to distribute to everyone. He was allowed to take anyone.
"-raka!'
"Huh?' she blinked, realising people were calling her name. "yes? Sorry."
"Can you help me carry the math textbooks back to class?' De-Kaminari requested.
Uraraka smiled amusedly, remembering how he tried to ask her out last time. Oh, she wasn't that stupid, she'd been so shy back then that she'd turned him down indirectly because she was too embarrassed.
Damn, my acting was good.
"Sure."
As they were carrying the books back, the two kept a steady stream of chatter on the way there and back.
Of course, she didn't talk as much. In her first lifetime, she'd been much more chatty, but she'd learnt to let others talk as she grew.
"Hey, Uraraka, wanna grab a bite to eat sometime?'
Uraraka saw Deku surrounded by their classmates out of the corner of her eye. She would check-up on him in a second. She had teasing to do.
She tittered, "oh my god, are you asking me out?'
Kaminari became a blushing and stuttering mess almost immediately.
"Y-y-y-you don't want to?'
"No, no. I'd love to."
"Do I see a love triangleeee?' Ashido crowed from behind them.
Kaminari literally jumped a few feet in the air. "Mina!'
"Everyone! Kami and Ochako are going on a date," Ashido sing-songed.
Uraraka rolled her eyes. "Thanks, Ashido. Why don't you broadcast to the whole world?'
Ashido simpered, eyes glittering cheekily.
"Wow, Uraraka, already making your move, huh?' Toru giggled.
"Are we seeing a new couple?' Kirishima clapped.
"I'm so sorry." Kaminari squeaked.
"It's fine," Uraraka flipped her hand in a casual manner. "I'm just trying to get to know him better. Maybe we're compatible, maybe we're not."
"Someone's love life is not really our business, although, I advise that you focus more on studying or else you will lose your spot in the top five." lida scolded the others, before giving Uraraka his advice.
Uraraka smirked. "I won't."
"Um, is the weekend okay?' Kaminari cut in, shyly.
"Sure, Kami." He blushed hard at the nickname.
She only had eyes for one man, but he was no longer here. Even if she got together with Deku, she'd be six years older, and that made her uncomfortable.
She didn't want to get too close romantically to anyone anymore.
Still, an opportunity to get to spend some time with her classmate-one on one-had presented itself on a silver platter, so how could she refuse?
This shouldn't make much of a difference, except them getting closer sooner rather than later. Which she was planning to do anyway, with all her classmates. She was going insane being so bloody unfamiliar with the people she loved so much.
"Alright. See you on Sunday, twelve p.m?' Kaminari called to her, as she headed towards Deku.
"Sure," she smiled brightly.
"Hey, Deku. How come Recovery Girl didn't heal you?' She asked. Of course, she knew why.
"I didn't have the stamina," he answered distractedly. "Uraraka, more importantly..."
"We tried to stop him, but he went home just now without saying anything." She answered before he finished.
He rushed off before anyone could say anything. Uraraka leaned against the wall, smiling.
"So, you knew he would do that?' Shinsou asked, noticing her expression.
"Yeah." She replied, her eyes on the ceiling.
"You're far too cunning." He replied, sighing. "or he's just that reckless."
"Both." lida interrupted.
Uraraka didn't know why she felt this weird nostalgia in her chest, as she thought of all the things she'd actually managed to keep the same.
She scanned the room, her eyes going over her classmates, who were chatting happily. She could see future friend groups forming.
Some of them would even start dating in the future.
Everything's going to happen the way it did, right?
Maybe we'll stop Shigaraki. But, what then? Everyone else will move on with their life.
What about me? I'd be stuck in this body, and-
"Are you okay, you look slightly pale." lida commented, troubled. She whipped her head up at him. She was unaware of that, but she could feel the dread slowly settling in her stomach.
Did she want things to stay the same,
or not?
"It's nothing. I'm going home." she slung her bag over her shoulder. She needed air. She needed to get out. The room suddenly felt stifling.
"But we still have class."
"Sorry, can you tell them I feel sick? It'd be better if I went home, since it's the last period, anyway."
"Alright. Please get some rest and feel better soon." lida nodded dutifully.
"Thanks."
"Oh, Uraraka's leaving, too?' Someone asked. Uraraka wasn't sure who.
"She said she wasn't feeling well." lida answered.
"Hope you feel better, 'Chako," Ashido called after her.
Deku rushed down the stairs.
We tried to stop him but he went home just now without telling anyone.
He took two stairs at a time, hoping he could catch up before Bakugo left school grounds.
Was it fun tricking me all this time?
Deku gritted his teeth.
He was almost at the door when he saw a figure with blonde hair just about to leave.
"Kacchan!'
Bakugo turned his head, his eyes glaring murderously at Deku. Deku gulped.
His mouth trembled, the words on the tip of his tongue.
This is a secret I haven't even told my mom. But.
"There's something I have to tell you," he said, staring at the ground as if it was the most interesting thing around, "my quirk is something I received from someone else," he revealed.
"Huh?' Bakugo looked at him properly.
"I can't tell you from who, though!' Deku added quickly, in case, Bakugo asked him who it was from. "It's like a story out of a comic book, I know, but it's true."
Bakugo stared at him, his crimson eyes shadowed.
Uraraka watched from behind the door, pursing her lips. She pulled her bag's straps tighter. She didn't want to be there, but she knew this was important. She wanted to leave school grounds, get this energy and negativity out of her system, but she could wait a little, she supposed.
"On top of that, I still can't control it properly. It's just a borrowed power I haven't made my own yet."
No one else deserves it more than you do.
Uraraka clenched her fists. She wanted to interrupt, say something to encourage Deku, but she needed to be quiet. The urge was getting stronger, though.
"That's why I tried to beat you without using it. But in the end, I couldn't and I had to use it." Deku finished.
She could see Bakugo getting angry. Deku was only making Bakugo angrier. She clutched her skirt.
"I've still got a long way to go. That's why-that's why, one day, I will make this quirk my own." he looked up, a fire in his eyes. "and beat you with my own power."
Maybe he wanted to motivate Bakugo, or spur him on. But it was him saying that, and anything Deku said made Bakugo angry.
"What the hell is that?' Bakugo said in a quiet but gruff voice. "'borrowed power'? You're talking nonsense. What are you trying to do? Make me more of a fool than you already have, huh?'
His voice rose in volume. "Today I lost to you, that's all there was to it," but even as he said that his whole body was quivering. "As I watched the ice guy, I thought I can't beat him!' Bakugo screamed.
He covered his eyes, frustrated and angry and disappointed and ashamed with himself. "Damn it! I even agreed with that ponytail girl. Damn it, damn it, damn it." His voice was raw with confusion and loss, and his fists clenched, fingers digging into his palm.
"Hey, you too, Deku!' He finally raised his eyes to meet Deku's and Uraraka gasped from behind the door.
I didn't know he cried that day.
Because Bakugo's eyes were shining with tears. "I'm just getting started," His voice cracked. "you hear? I will become number one here. You won't beat me again, bastard."
Bakugo and Deku stared each other down for a split second.
"I know you're here, round face." Bakugo turned around and wiped those tears as he walked out.
"W-w-what?' Deku stumbled over his words. "Uraraka?'
Uraraka gave a guilty grimace as she revealed herself. Damn, she was too loud.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to eavesdrop. I wasn't feeling well and was gonna go home, but it seemed private and I didn't want to interrupt. But, um, if I took the back exit, I'd have to go all the way around-"
"How much-how much did you hear?' Deku asked, fearfully.
Uraraka pondered; how much should she hide? Would he know if she lied?
She decided to tell the truth, in the end.
"Everything."
"You were there for that long?!'
"I'm so, so sorry." Uraraka bowed.
"I-you're not going to tell, right? Oh, god." Deku panicked.
"It's okay, Deku. I won't talk about this to anyone, I promise." Uraraka vowed.
"Oh, okay. Thank you. I-wow." He stared at her.
"Yeah. Wow." She giggled.
"There he is!' Came a sudden shout. The wind blew faster and someone rushed past.
huh?
It was All Might! What. Deku never told her All Might was there, too. What else had happened that day that she'd missed? It stung a little that Deku had kept so many secrets from her, but she did understand where he was coming from.
He grabbed Bakugo by the shoulders from behind. "Just so you know, pride is important," he stared at the sky with his trademark big smile, "you definitely have the abilities to become a pro hero. You still have a lot of-"
"Let go of me, All Might," Bakugo said.
Uraraka gasped. How rude, she thought.
"I'll become a hero that surpasses even you without you telling me," Bakugo growled.
"Huh? Uh right." All Might awkwardly let go.
Uraraka had a thought. "Bakugo!' She called.
Deku looked over at her curiously.
Bakugo didn't turn around or reply, but he stopped to listen.
"We'll be holding you to that." She yelled.
Bakugo still didn't turn around, but his shoulders, which had been hunched, lifted. He continued walking.
He'll be fine. She convinced herself.
All Might turned around to the two.
So she heard about Midoriya's powers. She didn't look too surprised. Had she already figured it out?
All Might thought about how he kept seeing her. She was special, he realised. He didn't need to be around her for more than a day to realise that.
ok so this was a filler chapter ig.
the pairing isn't kami/ochako, so yea, it starts out as a date, but kami also discovers that while he thinks she's cute, he doesn't really have feelings for her or anything.
but anyways.
