Chapter Eighteen: The House Cup

"Yes and you look just exactly like I remember you except for your glasses. That was back when you were Harry Potter. How you and your filthy mudblood mother survived is still beyond me. I still have no idea how a baby with no extraordinary magical talent was able to defeat the greatest and darkest sorcerer of all time. You escaped me with only a scar on your forehead while meanwhile I was completely destroyed!" Voldemort hollered angrily at him. "Unicorn blood can sustain me, but it can't give me a body of my own,.. but there is something that can. Something that conveniently enough lies in your pocket!" He snapped before Harry turned to run.

"Stop him!" Voldemort ordered and that's when suddenly Quirrell snapped his fingers and the room erupted in flames. "Don't be a fool, why suffer through death at all when you can join me and live forever?" He questioned him.

"God has the ability to make people live forever and He is a lot more powerful than you!" Harry yelled at him and that's when Voldemort suddenly chuckled at him.

"Bravery. Your father James Potter had it too. Tell me Harry, would you like to see him and your grandparents again?" He questioned as Harry suddenly glanced up at the mirror and saw their reflections reappear. "We can bring them back. All I ask is for something in return." He said as Harry slowly took the stone back out of his pocket. "That's it Harry. There is no good and evil, only power. Together we can do extraordinary things if you just give me the stone!" He yelled.

"You liar only Christ has the power to resurrect the dead!" Harry yelled back at him.

"Kill him!" Voldemort ordered and the next thing that Harry knew Quirrell lunged at him knocking him to the ground and grabbing him by the throat. Even though Harry was fighting to breathe he finally managed to start to fight back and realized there was heat coming from the palms of his hands as he grabbed his hand with his one hand and slowly pulled it away from his throat. Quirrell yelped out in pain as his hand started to disintegrate while Harry quickly got to his feet.

"What is this magic!?" He cried.

"Fool! Get the stone!" Voldemort ordered and as Quirrell started making his way towards him again Harry placed both of his hands on his face and Quirrell screamed out in even bigger agony before he started turning to ash right before his eyes and collapsed. The next thing that Harry knew Voldemort's soul escaped Quirrell's body and went straight through him. Letting out a yell Harry fell onto the floor in an unconscious state while holding The Sorcerer's Stone in the palm of his hand.

.

Later on Harry woke up in the hospital wing and his father was looking down at him while he rubbed his eyes and grabbed his glasses off the nightstand. "What on earth were you thinking!?" He scolded. "I thought I told you not to go after him alone! You could have been killed!" He hollered angrily.

"I know, I'm sorry,.. but I had to stop him." Harry replied before his father took a deep breath.

"Well you're safe now that's all that matters." He told him.

"What about Ron and Hermione are they alright?" He questioned him anxiously out of concern as his father just simply looked at him.

"Fortunately, or unfortunately Mr. Weasley and Ms. Granger are both just fine." He responded.

"Well what about The Sorcerer's Stone." Harry wondered.

"The stone has been destroyed. Nicholas and Dumbledore decided that it was for the best." His father explained.

"Speaking of Dumbledore where is he? I want to know how one moment I was looking in the mirror and the next_" he began and that's when suddenly as if on cue Dumbledore entered the room with a rather sly grin.

"Well you see Harry, only the person who wanted to find the stone but not want to use it would be able to get it. Clever idea of mine isn't it?" He questioned him.

"So then,.. that means Nicholas Flamel will die won't he?" Harry questioned him back.

"He has enough elixir left to set his affairs in order,.. but yes,.. he will die." Dumbledore replied while sitting down at the foot of his bed.

"I don't suppose you can tell me why Voldemort wants to kill me so much?" Harry wondered.

"Alas, I am afraid that I cannot Harry. For you are only a mere child and it is that of your parents' wishes that I refrain from doing so until you're much older as you do not to be concerned about it right now." Dumbledore told him while glancing up at Snape and then back down at Harry again.

"Well doesn't it mean that with the stone gone Voldemort can never come back?" Harry inquired.

"That dear boy I'm afraid there are ways in which he can return." Dumbledore began. "Harry do you know why Professor Quirrell couldn't bear to have you touch him?" He questioned him as Harry just silently shook his head. "It was because of your mother. She was willing to die for you so that you could live, and that kind of act leaves a mark." He explained while Harry silently touched his scar. "No, this mark cannot be seen. For it lives in your very skin." He told him.

"Well what is it?" Harry wondered.

"Love Harry. Love." He replied with a grin while ruffling his hair as Severus silently smiled at them while Dumbledore got up and left the room.

.

Harry couldn't believe it. It seemed to him that as soon as his first year at Hogwarts began it was now suddenly over and they were all enjoying the end of the year school feast before Dumbledore started to speak.

"Another year at Hogwarts has come and gone, and I do believe the house cup needs awarding and the points stand thus." He began. "In fourth place Gryffindor has 312 points." He said as everybody else started clapping for them out of common courtesy. "In third place Hufflepuf with 322 points." Dumbledore said as Harry, Ron, and Hermione clapped along miserably with all of the other Gryffindors. "In second place Ravenclaw with 412 points."

Dumbledore announced before the clapping continued. "And in first place with 472 points,.. is awarded to Slytherin house!" He exclaimed as all of the other Slytherins started to cheer while Snape didn't know whether or not to applaud or be miserable along with his son. "Yes well done Slytherin! Well done Slytherin! However, recent events must be taken into account." He said when suddenly the room grew silent again except for several whispers that broke throughout the room. "First of all to miss Hermione Granger who showed intellect when others were in great peril, I award her fifty points." She said as Hermione beamed proudly while the Gryffindor table started cheering and clapping for her.

"And to mister Ronald Weasley to the best game of chess that Hogwarts has seen in many years,.. fifty points." Dumbledore said with a grin as the cheering and applause broke out again. "And thirdly to mister Harry Snape for sheer love and outstanding courage,.. I award Gryffindor house sixty points." He said as the cheering grew louder this time.

"We're tied with Slytherin!" Hermione exclaimed in an excited whisper.

"And finally, it takes great courage to stand up to your enemies, but what a great deal more to stand up to your friends. I award ten points to Neville Longbottom." Dumbledore said and at this Neville's eyes widened in complete and utter shock and amazement while people cheered and applauded for him. "And now considering the fact that I do believe my calculations are correct I do believe that a change of decoration is in order." He said and clapped his hands together signaling the Slytherin banners to change into Gryffindor ones. "Gryffindor wins the house cup!" He exclaimed as the great hall grew into the loudest cheers and applause ever and all the Gryffindors tossed their black hats up in the air and then they landed down on top of the ground beside the table.

That's when Harry turned to his father and grinned and he smiled back at him and gave him a slight nod. A few moments later Harry and his friends were gathering their belongings together so that they could be loaded on the train. As soon as Hedwig and her cage was loaded on, Harry gathered Patches inside his arms and then turned to look over at Hagrid.

"I hope you don't think that I was leaving without saying goodbye." He told him as Hagrid just simply grinned at him.

"Of course I didn't." He began. "Have a good summer Harry." He told him as Harry smiled at him and started to turn away from him.

"Thanks Hagrid I will and same to you." He replied.

"Oh and listen Harry, if that cousin Dudley ever gives you any grief,.. you could always threaten to turn him into a warty old toad." He suggested as Harry stopped and turned to look back at him.

"But Hagrid, we're not allowed to do magic outside of school yet. You know that." He replied as Hagrid nodded.

"I do,.. but your cousin don't do he?" Hagrid questioned him back with a wink as Harry chuckled and then climbed aboard the train. He went to his compartment and sat down sticking both his head and Patches out the window before he waved goodbye for both of them at Hagrid who waved back as the Hogwarts Express chugged away from the castle.

Hey guys, I don't remember the exact points of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw so I sort of made them up. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my retelling of Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone and I'm hoping to start The Chamber of Secrets tomorrow!
