I decided to update this story now because it was clear people wanted to know what happens next after that cliffhanger. So since its Chritsmas I decided to update early.

Chapter VIII:
Metal Madness PT2
Within the hallways of the Castle of Swan Lake, a great clash is taking place. Two blurs of violet and blue lightning streaks blast through one of the blurs is Sonic racing/battling against his evil robotic twin Metal Sonic, who has every intention of ending the blue blur and claiming the Chaos Emeralds in his possession. Metal runs/flies right along side Sonic and attempts to slash at him with his metal clawed hands, the hedgehog quickly avoids his counterparts attacks then leaps in the air and performs a homing attack on Metal blasting him he quickly recovered and blasts after Sonic as they continued their speed duel deeper into the castle hallways.
Elsewhere:
Pushing through the doors were, Odette, Bridget,Knuckles, Amy and Lord Rodgers who carrying the knocked out Bromley through the hallways of the castle.
"Odette!" Called a voice everyone looks and sees Derek, Uberta, Chamberlain and Tails hurrying down the hallway in the opposite direction.
"Whats going on we heard a loud noise and…" The prince suddenly took note of his injured childhood friend and the rather bruised Master Emerald guardian.
"Brom!" Derek said in horror.
"Knuckles?!" Tails said as well. "What happened?"
"I'll tell you what happened Tails." Knuckles uttered as he used his strength to stand on his own. "It begins with Metal and ends with Sonic!"
"METAL SONIC!" Tails gasped in horror, he never would have imagined that name would be heard.
"Metal what, what pray tell is a Metal Sonic?" Uberta asked.
"Derek its one of Eggman robots, it it looked a lot like Sonic, but it wasn't him!" Odette explained to the confused prince.
"It has to be what attacked your kingdom Mother." Derek guessed.
"So it wasn't Sonic but another one?" Uberta wondered all but confused by this development.
"Its a long story and we'll explain later your majesty." Amy said.
"Metal's gotta be here for the Chaos Emeralds!" Knuckles said nearly regaining his realised if this Metal Sonic was a threat sent by Eggman it threatened the safety of his family and his friends.
"Alright Rodgers get to the Emeralds and make sure they are safe." Derek told his council. "Mother you and Chamberlain get to the guest room and barricade yourselves in don't come out no matter what!"
"Okay Derek I will, but what about you?" Uberta said.
"I have to go find this thing and stop it!" Derek said as he armed himself with his sword, bow and arrows.
"He's right we gotta help Sonic!" Amy agreed.
"But if this thing is like Sonic won't he be able to handle him?" Odette asked.
"Not like this Odette, even Sonic has his limits especially if Metal is involved." Tails explained. Which only made the Swan Princess's concern for her friend ever worse.
"Then I'm coming with you Derek." Odette said.
"No if this thing is as dangerous as Tails says I can't chance it hurting you." Derek disagreed.
"I'll be fine Derek I have to help my friend." Odette said.
"Don't worry Derek." Amy said as she pulled out her Piko Piko hammer and rested it on her shoulder. "I'll watch over her."
Derek was rather surprised by this development and he began to see what Sonic meant by her always having a hammer to hand. Though he didn't want to risk his wife's safety he also knew she would never abandon a friend in need.
"Alright just stay close to me." Derek agreed to which Odette nodded.
"Tails take Knuckles with Rodgers and protect the Emeralds." Amy said.
"Oh no I'm not missing out on this fight." Knuckles growled but then groaned in pain as he felt his side.
"Knuckles your in no condition for a fight and you'll be better helping us protect the Emeralds." Tails insisted. Knuckles wouldn't admit it but he knew the two tailed fox was right.
"We need to hurry and find Sonic!" Odette said and with that Odette, Amy and Derek hurried down the corridors to search the castle for any sign of the two duelling speedsters.
Meanwhile:
The storm rages on as the rain pours down from the sky that crackles with lightning. Blasting out of the walls of the castle were the two speedsters, the blurs clashed against each other as they ran along the very walls of the castle. Sonic ran as fast as he could and even went into a spin dash to ram into Metal, who responded with a spin dash of his own and the two clashed and their energy reacted in a small explosion of light.
Sonic recovered from the attack as did Metal and the two of them ran along the walls and then blasted back inside the castle via one of the windows in the upper towers. They continued their battle through the hallways of the castle.
Running through the hallways Amy, Derek and Odette burst into the ballroom. They looked around the room for any sign of their had his bow at the ready for the first sign of trouble, and Amy readied her hammer and stood close to Odette.
"Where are they?" Amy asked holding her hammer close.
"Stay alert." Derek said. "Odette stay close to me."
The princess stood closer to her husband as they kept looking for signs of trouble. Then all of a sudden as if on cue the two trails of lighting of the clashing speedsters blasted into the room and circled the group who stood at the ready. Odette just looked at the lighting trails trying to look for Sonic but could barely see what was going on. Just then the violet lightning blasted towards her.
"Odette!" Derek exclaimed. However before he could do anything the blue lightning trail blasted into the other and pushed it that moment the blue blur emerged from his lightning trail with Metal Sonic holding him by the neck nearly choking him.
"Sonic!" Odette breathed. Derek acted quickly and fired an arrow from his quiver at the metal robot.
However before the arrow could meet its mark, shockingly the robot hedgehog grabbed it in his hand before it could hit his head. Derek was completely startled, how could it have caught the arrow so quickly?
Metal then turned his gaze to the prince, princess and pink hedgehog now in the room. So he tossed Sonic aside sending him rolling to the ground, leaving Odette and Amy deeply concerned for him.
The robot then addressed the royals. "Prince Derek, Princess Odette, we meet at last." Metal Sonic beeped in a robotic voice.
"Back off Metal I mean it!" Amy threatened with her hammer.
"I know Eggman sent you here for the Emeralds but your not getting them!" Derek said standing strong.
Metal just stood there with his eyes glowing brighter in blood red. "We shall see about that, surrender them now and I shall spare you all!"
"No, if we did you would just give them to Eggman so he could conquer our world, just like he was doing to Sonic's!" Odette defied.
"The Doctors goals are beyond understanding, even more so now." Metal Sonic beeped. "For there is a new power, he now seeks the power to bend everything to his will!"
Odette and Derek didn't really understand what the robotic hedgehog had just said to them. What power was he talking about what could be just as significant as the emeralds that their friends sought as well?
"What are you talking about?" Derek demanded.
"Oh you will see soon enough." Metal beeped. "For the cunning opponent bides his time for the right moment… to STRIKE!"
"You mean like this!" Metal turned just as he was hit in the head by the blow of Amy Rose's hammer which sent him crashing into one of the support pillars in the ballroom. A small brown bag fell out of her dress and landed on the ground.
"No one messes with my Sonic and gets away with it!" Amy exclaimed to the robot.
However Metal quickly recovered and sped right up into Amy's face and swatted her away into another pillar. The metal menace then slowly approached the pink hedgehog, however Derek fired another arrow at Metal Sonic who just caught it and threw it right back at him, the arrow just caught his arm as the prince ducked out of the way. Growling as he looked at the blood stained cut on his arm.
The Metal Hedgehog then approached Amy again. However Odette moved in its way and blocked him from reaching Amy.
"No I won't let you hurt my friend!" Odette defied.
Metals eyes glowed brighter and he was just about to attack as Odette did look with a hint of fear in her eyes. However before the attack came a blast of blue energy blasted Metal Sonic to the side sending him crashing to the ground.
It was Sonic who attacked him, bruised and with a few small cuts of blood on his arm and head but was still standing. Metal had just recovered.
"Ha thats the spirit!" Metal exclaimed in stood up and faced his opponent. "You can't stop me hedgehog and you never will!"
Sonic then looked and saw the small brown bag close to Amy and could see exactly what it was, and he had an idea.
"Alright Metal, you wanna get fast?" Sonic challenged. "Lets get fast!"
He quickly zipped over and grabbed the small sack and tied it around his shoulder and then blasted at Metal who then blasts forward at Sonic. The two clash once again, then leaving through the hallway of the castle.
"Odette are you and Amy okay?" Derek asked to which Odette nodded as she took a breath. Amy stood back up with help from the princess they looked in the direction of where the two speedsters left and hurried after them.
Rodgers workshop:
Meanwhile in Lord Rodgers workshop Tails, looked over the Chaos Emeralds whilst Rodgers himself tended to the echidnas wounds.
"Gah! Watch it Rodgers I still need that arm!" Knuckles groaned.
"Well hold still and maybe you'll keep it." Rodger said.
Suddenly they heard something coming down the secret chute. Knuckles got up ready for a fight and Tails stood defensively in front of the emeralds. Rodgers was ready with a hammer but instead of a metal hedgehog it was Speed, Puffin and Jean-bob who landed in the ball pool.
"Hold fire its only us!" Puffin exclaimed as the animals breathed a sigh of relief knowing it was a false alarm as Tails helped Speed out of the ball pit.
"What is going on ve heard explosions all over ze place?" Jean Bob asked.
"Well long story short one of Eggman's robots is here and its after the Chaos Emeralds." Knuckles explained.
"Oh no zis is bad!" Jean Bob panicked.
"No fear lads!" Puffin said proudly. "I say we help our friends against this threat!"
"Ain't gonna be that simple bird boy, this isn't like with those Buzz Bombers or Motor Bugs, this one plays for keeps!" Knuckles then said.
"That doesn't sound good." Speed said.
"Be that as it may our friends are up there in danger we have to do something to help them!" Puffin declared.
"Well I don't see what we can do?" Rodger said.
Tails began to take in everything that his friends were saying and he realised Puffin was right, he didn't stand by and let Sonic fight this alone and he wasn't now. He began to wonder what they could do to help, and as he looked to the emeralds and a small silver cylinder standing next to them.
"Maybe there is!" Tails realised getting everyones attention.
Elsewhere:
Sonic and Metal continued to clash in the hallways of the castle, the blurs clashed against each other. Each landing solid blows. Metal slashed at Sonics chest with his metal claws, and Sonic kicked him into the walls then continued running through the hallways.
"I gotta get him away from here." Sonic said as he reached into the brown sack and pulled out a warp ring and tossed it.
Far away:
In a green meadow close to the mountains the thunderstorm continued to rage as the rain falls. Suddenly a large gold ring emerged and blasting out of it was Sonic and Metal Sonic.
"Okay here we go now we have room to juice and cut it loose!" Sonic said as he boosted forwards with his metal counterpart close behind him.
The two speedsters battled each other bounding off trees and rocks in the meadow both countering each others attacks. Sonic performed a homing attack on Metal who responded with one of his own. The attack blasts them away from each other both were taking injury and damage. Soon the two blasted towards each other almost on a collision collided with energy surging through them both as they butted their heads against each other.
"You might know everything that I'm going to do! But thats not going to help you since I know everything you're going to do." Sonic said as they butted heads.
"Strrrrange isn't it?"
The two blasted apart and shot up into the sky and then back down to the ground. Sonic blasts forwards speeding down the meadow and through the trees. Metal blasts after him and fires energy blasts from his chest trying to hit his opponent in the trees. Sonic bounces off the trees and avoids the laser blasts.
Swan Lake:
Back at the castle barricaded in the guest room was Uberta and Chamberlain who stood vigilante. They had heard the noise of the battle through the walls and they blocked the doors with the heaviest furniture in the room namely the bed and dresser.
The two of them emerged from behind the turned over table.
"Anything Chamberlain?" asked the Queen.
He looked around and listened but there was no sign of trouble. He then turned back to the queen.
"Nothing it seems quiet." Chamberlain said.
"Still you can never be to careful, but I'm sure by now Derek has helped Sonic defeat whatever's attacking the castle." Uberta said. "But what if it's still out there?"
"Your majesty no disrespect but I doubt whatever attacking may not be paying any attention to us." Chamberlain at that very moment a giant gold ring appeared in the room startling the two of them and blasting towards them was Sonic with his opponent close behind.
"Coming through Queen U!" Sonic blasted out of the ring portal and crashed through the barricade. The queen and her lackey turned and saw Metal heading towards them.
"GOOD HEVENS!" Uberta cried as she and Chamberlain ducked out of the way as the robot hedgehog blasted through the room and after his opponent.
The sound of the blast was heard throughout the castle which soon reached the ears of the prince, princess and pink hedgehog.
"Did you hear that?!" Amy exclaimed.
"Come on!" Derek said as the three of them ran down the hallways to find the source of the noise.
Meanwhile:
Sonic and Metal blasted through the hallways of the castle, crashing through the gates and zoomed all over the place. Their clash eventually reached the village. Metal continued to fire energy blasts from his chest trying to hit the blue hedgehog. Sonic times it just right and then spin kicks the energy blast back at Metal who just avoids it.
Everyone was awoken by all the blasts and saw the two blasts of light clashing against each other. One child even stepped out of his house and wanted a closer look at the strange light show.
"Henry?" Called his mother. She saw her son getting closer to the lightning blurs and looked in horror.
"HENRY!" she cried.
Suddenly Metal Sonic turned his energy blast at Sonic who quickly avoided it. Just then Sonic saw the energy blast intended for him was heading for the young acted quickly and raced over and grabbed the boy in slow motion and moved him out of the way. He ran him over to his mother who instantly embraced him in her arms. Sonic would have stuck around for some praise but he had other concerns. He quickly raced through the village with Metal close behind him Sonic tossed another warp ring in front of him but before he could enter it Metal fired another energy blast which just hit Sonic in the back.
The Castle:
Odette, Amy and Derek hurried outside the castle for any sign of Sonic or Metal but there wasn't any sign of them.
"Guys!" Called a voice and they turned to see Tails, and Puffin flying over to them.
"Tails Puffin what are you guys doing here what about the emeralds?" Amy asked.
"Don't worry lassie Knuckles and Rodgers are watching over them." Puffin explained.
"Wheres Sonic?" Tails asked.
However at that moment all eyes turned to the lake when the warp ring portal opened Sonic was catapulted through it by a massive explosion. He rolled to the ground bruised and hurt. He groans as he tried to get up only for Metal to pin him to the ground with his foot then pick him up by his arm as he hovered in place.
"Your pathetic my lonesome copy, I'm better than you I'm stronger than you in every way!" Metal beeped in his taunting voice.
"Sonic!" Odette cried, Derek was getting ready to fire another arrow until he was stopped by a certain two tailed fox.
"Hold on Derek, hand me your arrow quick!" Tails urged and without hesitation he gave the inventor his arrow.
Tails then moved to attach a silver cylinder to the arrow with some rope. He then handed it back to Derek who whilst a little bewildered by this attachment to his arrow he readied it to fire.
"Once I'm done with you I will take the emeralds and deliver your corpse to Dr. Eggman showing that I. AM. THE. ONE. TRUE. SONIC!" Metal gloated beeping.
Derek fired his arrow at Metal Sonic who just caught it in the air and turned his head towards the prince, princess, pink hedgehog, two tailed fox and eyes just glowed, but Tails just smirked. Just then a beep could be heard and out of nowhere the attachment exploded a blast of electricity shocking Metal Sonic forcing him to release the blue fell to the ground and was starting to short out.
"What was that!" Derek exclaimed.
"That was a little shock emitter I whipped up just in case we ran into one of Eggman's robots." Tails explained.
Sonic groaned and saw that Metal was starting to short out. He smirked and rolled into a spin dash and rammed straight into him sending him crashing into the came out of the spin ball but was a little weak from the impact and bruised from all of his metal clones attacks.
"Sonic!" Odette and Amy hurried over to Sonic and supported him.
However they heard a noise and saw emerging from the smoke was Metal Sonic still shorting out and had a few dents in his armour.
"Hehehehe!" The robot laughed in beeps. "Is that really the best you can do!"
Sonic was too weak and injured to fight, Odette could see it in his eyes. So she stood up and stood in front of him and Amy defensively.
"No I won't let you hurt my friends!" Odette proclaimed to the robot.
"Your very brave Princess, he said you would always defy him!" Metal said.
"Dr Eggman knows nothing and he knows we'll never give him the Chaos Emeralds!" Odette defied.
"Who said I was talking about Dr Eggman?" Metal just beeped which had gotten Odette and Derek all but confused who was Metal talking about?
Just then Metal charged forwards and struck the Swan Princess sending her rolling to the ground everyones eyes shrunk in horror!
"ODETTE!" Everyone cried. Sonics eyes shrunk in horror Metal had just attacked his friend. In that moment Sonic growled in rage and clenched his fist in anger as he stood back up again.
Amy saw a sudden glow coming from behind her and she saw Sonic his spines were glowing blue with energy and his eyes glowed with blue was ready to land a final blow to the Swan Princess, but before he could something blasted him in the back sending him crashing into the ground. He got back up and saw Sonic his entire body was surging with energy.
Derek and everyone were completely surprised the Prince had never seen Sonic glowing like this before, just then Uberta and Bridget and Chamberlain arrived on the scene.
"You just made a way past huge mistake chrome dome!" Sonic growled.
"Sonic!" Called a voice and Puffin flew over to him carrying the white Chaos Emerald. "Bombs away!" He threw it towards him and Sonic caught it.
He concentrated and the energy of the emerald surged through him almost surrounding him with a glowing yellow aura. Metal just readied himself for battle and Sonic just took a running start and then blasted forward as did Metal, the two clashed against each other with their speed and ran out onto the lake. Sonic was now at his full power and performed a homing attack on Metal blasting across and then attacked him again before the robot clone could react. Again and again Sonic performed homing attack after homing attack denting Metals body.
He was catapulted back onto the land damaged and shorting out with electricity. Sonic then landed a distance away from him.
Meanwhile Amy, Tails, Uberta and Derek attended to Odette who was just regaining consciousness. She looked and saw Sonic surging with power as he looked over Metal Sonic.
Metal Sonic just got back up though damaged he wasn't out of the fight just yet. Sonic knew he had to end this now but if Metal knew everything he knew he would know how to counteract it. So what he needed was something unexpected.
He slowly and discreetly moved his hand back and wiggled his fingers. Though no-one else saw it Derek recognised this very well and instantly he knew what Sonic was up to.
Metal just revved up his own power and blasted forwards towards Sonic with whatever power he had left. When he was close enough. Derek fired an arrow straight at Sonic much to the surprise of as the world moved in slow motion Sonic swiftly turned and grabbed the arrow in his hand and when Metal got close he jammed the arrow straight into his chest.
The energy Sonic had left blasted straight through the arrow and the blast catapulted Metal away and sent him crashing into the lake. Sonic let out a heavy breath as he looked out onto the lake. Everyone there thought it was over.
However rising from the lake was Metal who was barely holding together half his blue metal coating was gone and energy sparked from his circuits.
"Thats impossible!" Derek breathed.
"Can't anything stop this monstrosity!" Uberta exclaimed.
Metal was getting ready to attack again until he had an incoming message from someone. "Metal Sonic, you're running out of power return to base at once! Mission Aborted!" Eggman relayed.
Metal stared at his opponent as his eyes glowed red in hatred. "We will meet again Hedgehog and next time your friends won't be around to save you!" Metal beeped as he began to fly away from the kingdom.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief as Odette stood up with Amy supporting her. "Odette are you alright?" Derek asked with concern.
"I'm okay, I'm not hurt Derek." Odette said much to the relief of everyone. Just as they looked in relief Sonic began reverting back to his normal blue colour and the yellow aura faded.
"Nice one Sonic you showed Metal who's the real deal!" Amy cheered.
"Bravo sir bravo!" Uberta congratulated as the celebrations were overshadowed as out of nowhere Sonic collapsed to the ground much to everyones shock.
"Sonic!" Amy cried as she and the others ran over to the unconscious blue hedgehog. Odette kneeled down to him and picked him up in her arms looking over him. She saw, he had bruises and cuts with blood on his fur.
"Sonic!" Odette called to him but he didn't respond. Derek, Tails and Amy kneeled down and looked at the unconscious body of their friend.
"Is he?" Amy asked in concern. Tails looked over his friend and saw he was hurt but he saw he was breathing and felt his pulse.
"No he's alive, he's just exhausted he just used up a lot of energy fighting Metal." Tails diagnosed.
"Then we better get him inside." Derek said before looking to his mother. "Mother tell Rodgers to get bandages and a cold washcloth."
Uberta nodded and hurried into the castle as Derek took Sonic from Odette and carried him into the castle with the others following close and Amy hoped and prayed that Sonic would be okay.
Elsewhere in the dark mountains:
Back where the villainous Dr Eggman had set up his base, Metal Sonic had recently returned beaten and battered. He was placed inside the machine to carry out repairs and as it did Eggman and Rothbarts ghost looked over him. Rothbart seemed irritated.
"So good doctor it seems your so called vicious predator wasn't so vicious as you thought." He said.
"Sonic and the Prince got lucky!" Eggman exclaimed. "But soon their luck will run out!"
"You speak with confidence yet your failures speak otherwise!" Rothbart reminded.
"Confidence is a fools substitute for intelligence!" Eggman pointed out as he brought up a holo screen in front of him.
"For you see whilst we were unable to secure the emeralds from Swan Lake, it did by me time." He then had the screen zoom in on a particular area of the land that picked up a particular energy signature.
"As you can see I have detected another of the precious Chaos Emeralds and once we have that we shall claim the other emeralds." Eggman explained. "Then and only then will we revive you and this so called ultimate power of yours!"
"You had better Doctor, for your sake!" Rothbart hissed straight into the mad doctors face as he floated away.
Eggman gritted his teeth growing at his disembodied new colleague. For he was starting to get on his nerves with his impatience. Though he was one to talk about wanting this power sooner rather than later.
"Impatient disembodied creep!" Eggman said under his breath.
As Rothbart was a distance away he didn't hear it though he too had a few thoughts about this bloated idiot helping him.
"Bloated buffoon!" He said under his breath.
Back at Swan Lake:
Everyone was gathered in the room where Sonic and Tails had settled into. Said blue hedgehog was now lying in bed bandaged up. Amy washed his head with the wash cloth.
Derek was also patched up from the injuries he received fighting the metal hedgehog, he had a bandage on his arm. Knuckles was in the room with his share of bandages. Odette sat close to Sonics bedside as did Derek.
"Is he going to be okay?" Odette asked with worry.
"That battles taken its toll on him, but he should be okay." Tails said. "Don't worry Odette, Sonics been through worse, he's a fast healer.
He was right as the Swan Princess looked at the blue hedgehog she could tell his wounds were already starting to heal. Rodgers was all but amazed by this development. However there was one thing on Dereks mind.
"Tails what was that thing and why did it look like Sonic?" Derek knew it was time they knew the story behind Sonics evil robot twin brother.
"Well, because he is Sonic in a way." Tails explained.
"What to you mean?" Uberta asked.
"Well you see a while back Eggman tricked me and Sonic into going into his base at Robotropolis when he set a generator to self destruct." Tails explained.
"Yeah but actually he was just luring Sonic there, because he needed something from him." Knuckles explained.
"What did he need from Sonic?" Odette asked.
"He needed to scan Sonic so he could copy his life data and transfer it into Metal Sonic." Tails explained.
However now everyone was more confused than before. "What pray tell is life data?" Rodgers asked.
Tails realised he was explaining something the royals didn't understand. He tried to find the best way to explain life data, then he noticed something on the book case that would be the best way to describe it. He used his tails to fly up to the book case and picked up a book then brought it down to the royal and animal friends in the room.
"Okay uh, try to think of life data as a book about yourself." Tails explained gesturing to the book. "Inside contains everything about you, your likes, your dislikes, personality and all your thoughts. Thats what Eggman needed from Sonic, Metal has felt everything that Sonics ever seen in his life."
"Yeah cause to cut a long story short, anything that Sonic can do he can do." Knuckles said.
"I see because the best way to beat him was with the same kind of power." Derek surmised.
"Exactly." Tails confirmed.
"Yeah Metal is as bad as they come, he was the one who kidnapped me when I first met Sonic." Amy added.
"But you were able to beat him right?" Odette asked.
"Yeah first time we beat him he was melted in the lava of a volcano." Tails explained.
"But what we didn't know was that he somehow survived and he had a plan of his own." Knuckles explained. "He was trying to copy the data of all our friends back home and turn himself into a god."
"But it was thanks to our team work not to mention Sonic, Tails and Knuckles using the Chaos Emeralds to defeat him." Amy added.
"About that how on earth was Sonic able to beat Metal tonight?" Uberta asked. "I have never seen him that powerful."
"Thats the Chaos Emeralds for you." Knuckles said with a chuckle.
"He's right his little energy boost was all thanks to the Chaos Emerald." Amy said. "Its like we said they turn your thoughts into power."
"Yes but what about before he got the emerald in hand?" Uberta then asked as she remembered what happened to Sonic when Odette was hurt.
"Well thats a little complicated." Tails admitted. "Its something with his power, whenever he get angry or stressed I sort of lose control. It must have been when Metal hurt Odette thats what triggered it."
"Wow, sounds rather bad." Speed said.
"Good thing he focused it on Metal then." Derek said.
"But now that Eggman has stepped up his game bringing Metal Sonic into this." Tails said. "We'll need to be extra careful. Especially when finding the remaining emeralds."
"I agree, but theres something else." Odette said getting their attention. "Metal said that someone knew I would stand to defy him?"
"What Eggman?" Puffin wondered.
"No he wasn't talking about Dr Eggman but someone else." Odette said. "And he also said he was looking for another kind of power."
"But what?" Amy wondered. "What could be just as important as the Chaos Emeralds?"
This had brought a look of concern to everyone was Eggman working with someone, if so then who and why was he helping him do so? And what was this power that he was trying to find?
"We'll figure it out, but for now we need rest, and so does Sonic." Tails suggested.
Everyone nodded in agreement and so they left the room. However before Odette left the room, she looked back at the resting hedgehog, who had saved her with Dereks help. She quietly entered the room, and looked at the hero hedgehog. She moved to tuck him in bed, which was a kind gesture.
Then she proceeded to give him a kiss on the head. "Thank you." She said quietly as she left the room.
"Your welcome." Sonic muttered quietly.
That put a smile on the Swan Princess's face knowing that her friend was going to be alright and so she left him to rest and recover. And Sonic rested with a smile on his face.
Authors Notes: Well looks like they've survived this round but it looks like Eggman has found another of the precious Chaos Emeralds, lets hope our heroes can find it first. Now I was completely in the zone when writing this, I was feeling inspired by CW's the Flash and by the Sonic 2020 film which has been a constant inspiration on this story as its given me many inspiring ideas especially the past Sonic cartoons and films.
Now as regards to a matter brought up in the reviews, whilst a good thought to include Shadow and Rouge the Bat, I wish for this story to stick to the main members of Team Sonic, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy. However theres nothing to say more Sonic characters won't appear in later stories in the new year (hint hint).
