Preface: Hello again! I trust that, even with COVID, all of you who celebrate Thanksgiving had an enjoyable and safe one nonetheless! I sure did - I played Among Us for the very first time! It's actually pretty fun and way beyond the memes!

Anyways, this is the final chapter of this story, and the epilogue should be up as well. I hope you enjoy this conclusion!

SPACEHOG FROM MOBIUS III:
CHAOS HAVEN II

Previously...after an impromptu trip to Whisker Haven's past accidentally resulted in Metal Sonic undoing his previous defeat, Sonic, Tails, the Palace Pets, and their new ally Kirby had to work together in order to put history back on track before Ms. Featherbon, who had been drained of her magic, faded from existence.

Now...the heroes enjoy some breakfast before one more thing comes in their way...

Chapter 7:
Final Chase Through Time!

"Oh, dear! That sounds horrible!"

Breakfast the next morning was quite a relief for Sonic as he told the Palace Pets and Kirby about the war that had caused him so much guilt. The hedgehog looked down at his pancake at Pumpkin's reaction. "Totally. Something tells me I wasn't supposed to even be there in the first place."

"But you managed to help save the day, right?" asked Kirby, emerging from the mountain of waffles he made himself.

"Yep, and then he came back!" said Tails.

"And now," said Sonic, finishing his orange juice, "I'm ready to move on." He looked around at his new friends. "Y'know, if the Phantom Ruby hadn't shown up, I probably wouldn't have met you guys…"

Ms. Featherbon flew through the door. "Hello, everybody!" she said, cheerfully.

"How're you feeling, Ms. Featherbon?" asked Treasure.

"Much better," said the fairy. "Charles was just doing some tests on me."

"Tests?" asked Tails.

"Certainly," said Uncle Chuck, entering the room. "According to my tests, the magic in Ms. Featherbon's DNA has an odd connection to the temporal layer of reality, which is why she was to first to almost be erased from existence!"

"But why were you in so much pain when we woke in that cell?" asked Kirby. He had already finished the mountain of waffles, to Pumpkin's disgust.

"Well, you see," began the hummingbird, somewhat apprehensive and nostalgic, "I was not born a fairy. I was once a normal hummingbird. But when I entered the tutelage of Merriwether, one of the three good fairies, I received my first dose of glitterbits, which is what turned me into a fairy!"

"And when you got your magic removed," guessed Sultan, "because it was basically part of you, it's what caused your pain!"

"Indeed," said Ms. Featherbon. "I was given a new muscle that allows me to do magic without pain. When my magic is removed, my muscle is strained when I perform a spell!"

"So is your magic back?" asked Tails.

"Unfortunately, no," said Ms. Featherbon, "but a simple dosing of glitterbits, and I should be back to normal!"

Pumpkin got up and stretched. "Now then, I feel we should be returning to Whisker Haven."

"Yeah, let's go to the Warp Zone in Peridot Beach Zone!" said Sonic. "We can show you around bits of Mobius in the meantime!"

The group started to walk out of the room, Uncle Chuck leading the way. Unfortunately, just before Uncle Chuck could leave, the door suddenly slammed shut and locked. "Great Scott!" cried Chuck, struggling to open the door.

[BGM: SEGA SOUND TEAM, Jun Senoue - Theme of " "]

"Unc!" said Sonic, turning around. "What happened? Who did this?"

"Oh, I'll give you a few guesses," said a rather familiar voice. The DeLorean suddenly burst into the lab, knocking down one of the walls. And in the driver's seat was a familiar round man in a red coat…

"Eggman!" shouted Tails. "So you did this!"

Dr. Eggman laughed. "And I shall pick up where Metal Sonic failed!" He turned the car around. "Hasta la bye-bye!" The car zoomed into the distance before vanishing into an unknown time.

"Oh, for the love of-" gritted Sonic. "Just when I thought we were done!"

Uncle Chuck began panicking. "Damn! Damn, damn! If Eggman uses the time machine to tamper with history, he could erase Sonic from existence and take over Mobius. And there's nothing that can stop him!" Suddenly, he remembered a RC car remote he had hung up on the wall. "Unless…"

[BGM: End]

"What, Charles?" said Treasure.

Chuck grabbed the remote and pulled the lever. A new DeLorean Time Machine model, which resembled a convertible, backed into the room. It looked like it could fit the entire crowd.

Sonic blew a dog whistle. "Rico, suave!" he said.

"This is a test model for an eight-person time machine," explained Chuck through the door. "I can control it remotely and you can direct it to Dr. Eggman!"

The gang climbed into the convertible. "How will we get to him, though?" asked Sultan.

"I can also track Eggman through time!" said Chuck. "Once we get close enough, all I have to do is bump his car at 88 MPH to send both of you back home!" He pressed a few buttons on the remote. "Looks like he's currently in the time of the pirates."

[BGM: Alan Silvestri - Back To The Future: The Ride]

"Okay, Unc!" said Sonic. "We got the gist! Now punch it!"

With that, Chuck moved the lever forward, and the car moved outside the lab. The flight mechanism activated, and the group began to accelerate to 88 MPH, before vanishing into the timestream.

[Current Time: July 14, 18XX, 11:02 AM]

In the time of the pirates, Westside Island had a great deal of sand, perfect for preparing to sail. "Oh, shimmering seashells!" said Treasure, with delight. "This reminds me of Prince Eric's castle!"

A video phone on the convertible activated, and Chuck began to speak on the other end. "Have you located Dr. Eggman yet?" he asked.

"Beginning to look right now, Chuck!" said Tails. He took out a spyglass and began looking. "A-ha!" He pointed downward. "X marks the spot! Bring us in downward!"

The car flew downward, closing in on Eggman. "I wonder what pirate treasure he's digging up," asked Sultan.

The doctor finished digging and pulled out a treasure chest, which was marked with the decal of a pirate face which Tails recognized. "Hey! That's Black-Beard the Pirate's treasure, AKA, the Chaos Emeralds!"

"Huh?" said Eggman, looking up. "What are you meddling kids doing here?"

"Stopping you from tampering with time again!" shouted Sonic.

"Well, too late!" said Eggman, "I have Black-Beard the Pirate's treasure, meaning I can conquer Mobius with ease now!"

"Not so fast!" shouted Ms. Featherbon, shooting a magic ball at the treasure spot. Upon impact, the chest was suddenly dug back up. The fairy was as surprised as everyone else, especially because she felt a small bit of magic return.

"Oh, forget this!" said Eggman, climbing back into the DeLorean. "I know another period of time I can get the emeralds!"

"Not if we have anything to say about it!" said Kirby. "Chuck, start it again!"

"Way ahead of you!" said Chuck. The convertible followed the DeLorean back into the air, and once Eggman vanished back into the timestream, a cannonball shot through the air, narrowly missing the heroes.

"Hey! Who's shooting at us?" said Sultan.

Tails looked down at the pirate ship and recognized the figure. "It's Black-Beard!" he said. "He must think we have the treasure!"

"Get us outta here, Unc!" cried Sonic.

Chuck inputted the time that Dr. Eggman vanished next and began to drive the convertible. "Our next stop is medieval Mobius!"

"Hey! Maybe we'll see King Arfur!" said Tails, excitedly.

As the convertible moved, it continued to be shot at. "Y'know what?" said Kirby. "I'm gonna let this guy know how it feels!" He stood up, inhaled the next cannonball that was shot at the heroes, and spat it back out.

Sonic watched the cannonball hit the ship causing it to sink. "Boy, I sure hope that was supposed to happen," he said as the group vanished once more.

[Current Time: July 14, 15XX, 11:30 AM]

Medieval Mobius looked rather rustic and dull. "This place sort of reminds me of Cinderella's kingdom," said Pumpkin, looking around.

Ms. Featherbon flew out of the convertible to scope the area. "Oh, dear," she said, "it looks like the scientist is heading towards that castle!"

"King Arfur, the ruler of the kingdom at the time," said Tails, "had the Chaos Emeralds at this time! No wonder Eggman's going there!"

Suddenly, a blast shot at both cars. Sonic looked down and saw a mobian car in wizard's garb. "Hey, I know this one!" he said. "That's Merlynx the wizard!"

"Oh, great a second one!" gritted Merlynx. "I won't let you attack King Arfur!" Another blast shot at the convertible, which barely missed.

":Wow, that was lucky!" said Sultan. "You just dodged that crazy wizard's blast!"

"Crazy wizard?" said Chuck. "You mean Merlynx?"

"Yeah, that dude!" said Sonic. "Enough wasting time! Let's get Eggman!"

The convertible sped towards the DeLorean, which was almost at King Arfur's castle. But just before the cars collided, Merlynx managed to get a hit at the DeLorean, causing it to spin around. "Yes! Direct hit!" cried Merlynx.

[Location Change: Ancient Mobigypt]

[Current Time: July 14, 9XX, 11:40 AM]

Pumpkin finally managed to focus her vision after spinning around. She was as surprised as the others. "Hey, why is there sand everywhere?"

"Great Scott!" cried Chuck. "Merlynx's shot corrupted the time circuits on Dr. Eggman's time machine! You were sent to ancient Mobigypt!"

At that moment, Dr. Eggman somehow took control of the video phone. "Hohohohoho!" he laughed. "I really should thank all of you," he said. "We are close to the pyramid of my ancestor, Robotnikhotep I! And that's where the Chaos Emeralds are right now!"

"Why do we always get close to the emeralds?" groaned Tails.

Ms. Featherbon began to think. "Y'know what?" she said. "I'm going to risk it."

"Risk what?" asked Kirby.

The fairy flew out of the car once more and shot a magic ball towards the DeLorean. Sparks flew from it, and it vanished into the timestream. As that happened, she felt an odd sensation, almost like more of her magic returned.

"What happened?" asked Treasure.

"It seems that Ms. Featherbon has sent Eggman to...prehistoric Mobius!" cried Chuck. "I don't know how, but we must get there immediately!"

The convertible began flying once more, preparing to go back in time again. As it did, Ms. Featherbon began to think more. She was feeling quite a lot better, and she managed to send the other time machine back in time. And there was also the bit where she undid Eggman's digging.

Could time somehow act as an alternative to glitterbits? Almost like a car battery charges two cars at once?

[Current Time: July 14, 4XX BCE, 12:00 PM]

"Oh, I've got a bad feeling about this…"

Prehistoric Mobius was basically a death trap. Not only were there dinosaurs everywhere, but a giant volcano was active, making Kirby's reaction justified.

"Now's not the time to be chicken!" said Sonic. "We gotta stop Eggman while we still can!"

The convertible flew past a whole herd of dinosaurs, who did not appreciate the flying inconvenience. They all tried to bite the car, one at a time. "Oh, this is extremely scary," said Treasure. "This is way past anything I'm not scared of!"

Suddenly, a T-rex managed to grab a hold of the convertible in its mouth. Everyone was exposed to its uvula and bad breath. "Y'know, I'm pretty sure this is anatomically disproportionate," said Sonic, holding back heaving up his breakfast.

The dinosaur spat the convertible back out, and it conveniently stopped near the volcano. I say "convenient" because that happens to be where Eggman was...not that he was in a good situation.

"Hey, wait a minute," said Tails, looking at the odd entity holding the DeLorean captive. "That's Magma the Lava God! So he wasn't a myth!"

"And he is holding Eggman captive?" said Chuck.

"Indeed," said Ms. Featherbon.

"Great Scott!" continued Chuck. "Normally, I'd go for it, but if he's held by pure lava, there's no way we'd be incinerated!"

Eggman took over the video phone again. "Enough chit-chat!" he said. "Help me outta here!"

Ms. Featherbon gave a determined nod. She was willing to test her hypothesis. She flew out of the convertible.

"Ms. Featherbon," shouted Pumpkin, "what are you doing?"

"I'm getting us home!" the fairy cried. She gave a deep breath and shot a continuous stream of magic balls at the DeLorean, freeing it from Magma's grasp. Then, she spread her wings, sending another stream at the convertible. She felt her magic return as the two cars came closer together. When the cars were nearly together, she tried to let go, but she couldn't. They got closer, and she felt more powerful, until…

BOOM! An explosion occurred, and the two cars seemed to collapse on each other. When it ended, nothing was there…

The end...almost!

Postface: So, what did you think? Nice conclusion, right? I sure hope so. You may notice a lack of a next chapter preview - I decided it wasn't worth making for an epilogue.

Trivia time! The basic outline of this chapter is based around the Back to the Future ride that was at the Universal parks - the Orlando version is where the Simpsons ride is today! It goes down to the convertible DeLorean Time Machine. I originally copied it directly from the ride, but this revised version reworks it to be more like the "Quest for the Chaos Emeralds" saga that was the only story arc in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, including the time periods, locations, and even a few characters! And the subplot of Ms. Featherbon's relationship with the timestream comes to its conclusion! I thought it was cool having her changing time giving her magic back, even if it seems a little handwave-y.
