Pacifica looked at her purple duffel bag lying on her bed in her room. She didn't need much, only a few outfits (just jeans and a few t-shirts) would suffice, along with a book or two, but something nagged at her. Something that she felt like she was missing. An object... or thing... or... person. A person (or several people) that she was forgetting! Of course! Robbie!
Oh. And Nate, Lee, Tambry, Thompson, and Wendy. Couldn't forget them. But mostly Robbie.
Pacifica felt her cheeks blush as she thought about telling Robbie about the upcoming danger. She'd be saving his life (along with his parents probably), and he'd really owe her one. But they'd been owing each other ones every other week that summer, she'd lost count of how many life-threatening situations she'd been in with him...
And then there was the rest of the gang. Lee and Nate were the two goody-two-shoes, Tambry was an environmentalist, and Wendy and Thompson were still going steady, in their own goth/emo way. There was no way Pacifica could just abandon them in their time of need! The danger was great, but Pacifica Elise Northwest was greater!
Now how to break the news to Mr. Ford... Hmm...
Another part of Pacifica realized the hypocrisy of her desires. Shouldn't she want to save the entire town and not just the few people she spent time with? Shouldn't she focus on the people as a whole and not just her little click? Didn't the other townfolk matter? A wave of frustration coursed through her, making her want to pull her hair out viciously.
The townsfolk were nice, but there were way too many of them to protect all at once. Plus, they weren't in any real danger, that they knew of. So Pacifica steeled her resolve, and with a firm tug on her zipper, picked her bag up to head towards the leader of her pack. Ford would most likely understand her desire, and would hopefully also allow her to bring the teenager with them.
She took one last, longing look at her room. She would be leaving it for several days, or weeks, or months, or even years. She might never actually go back to her home. If worst came to worst she may never see her home again. Her eyes trailed the flowery wallpaper decorating the four sides of her room, flowers that had watched her grow up. She might never again sleep under their watchful gaze. It was... sad to think of. It left her feeling like she was already years ahead, looking back on the last time she'd been in a normal place.
But like always, she had to keep going. It was still summer, and there was still danger. The sooner she talked to Mr. Ford the sooner she could get herself (and Robbie) to safety. It might take a bit of convincing though. She slipped out of her room, beckoning her chicken (fearless Madame Clucks) to follow her. The Madame looked at her sideways, then strutted forward, following the girl into the picture filled hall.
Photos of a younger Pacifica and her family lined the walls, each of them smiling and happy. Pacifica tried to remember the last time she'd smiled as wide as she had in those pictures, but her mind drew a blank. The summer had been so dark and dangerous. It was hard to think of a time before constant danger awaited her and her friends. This was just a danger of a greater magnitude than before. A dark force from another dimension working to destroy her own, or at least the lives of those she cared about.
At least that was what Mr. Ford had claimed.
She walked past Gideon's room, and was a little bit surprised to hear his voice coming from it. Usually Gideon kept extraordinarily quiet in there, only speaking when spoken to, but today must have been different. She leaned in towards the door, which was closed, and hear him say, "They don't... They weren't nice." His voice was so low that Pacifica was having a hard time hearing it. She knew almost instantly who they were talking about, and a sting of sadness filled her. She contemplated letting him know that she was there, but chose to just listen to whoever he was talking to's response.
"You're not the only one to have parents who suck. Kids still say that, right?" It was Mr. Ford's voice, and Pacifica nearly breathed a sigh of relief. At least it would be easy enough to find him now. Though now she was glued to their conversation. Eavesdropping couldn't be bad all of the time... Right?
"I understand." Was Gideon's short response, and Pacifica couldn't think of a more Gid thing to say. There was a small sigh (obviously from Ford) and the old man continued his explenation. "My father used to compare me and Stanley all the time, I grew up being told to not act like my brother. That if I did I'd go to the same place Stanley was headed. Nowhere. I'd ask Stan what my father talked to him about..." There was a moment of silence, and Pacifica could just imagine the sad expression on Mr. Ford's face.
"It got so bad that when it was my principal... I didn't know how to defend him." There was a melancholy sound in Ford's voice, like whatever had happened deeply hurt him, and from what Pacifica knew, it worked in both ways. "They took away the one thing I actually had for him."
Pacifica suddenly felt extremely dirty. Whatever she was hearing was very personal information, and it was obviously something that Mr. Ford only wanted Gideon to hear. If he'd wanted Pacifica to know he'd have told her. She backed away from the door slowly, but she still felt like she had spiderwebs all over her. She wanted to pull her hair out again. Her bag suddenly felt like she'd packed bricks instead of clothes. How could she ask for another favor when she had blatantly disregarded his privacy like this?
She backed down the hall backwards, and then took a moment to breathe. It would be okay. She'd be fine. She just wouldn't tell them! That would get rid of this awful feeling of betrayal. That was totally how emotions worked. She'd just act normal and everything would be fine. She'd be fine! Yeah...
Gideon's white door swung open, and he walked out with his own blue duffel bag slung over his shoulder like Pacifica had her purple one. He looked at her face up and down, and seemed to notice how she was struggling to keep a straight face. She began to breathe quicker than normal, and gave him a shaky smile. "Hey Gid... Ready to head off into the unknown?"
Her blonde friend glanced behind him, just as Mr. Ford stepped through the threshhold as well. "Oh, hello Pacifica." He said, before Gideon had a chance to respond. "Is there something troubling you?"
Was she really that obvious? "Oh... Uh... Yeah actually." Mr. Ford stepped closer to her, his eyebrows raised. "What is it my dear?" Pacifica felt her cheeks tinge a bit pink, and she shifted awkwardly for a moment, her eyes flicking between Mr. Ford and Gideon.
"So... Uh... I have this friend... I know that there's probably not a lot of room... but I care a lot about him... As a friend!" Pacifica fumbled through her words, and Ford took another step towards her and knelt down in front of her. She gulped, then she added, "I just thought... Mabel and Dipper know that the two of us are close... so I was worried... Worried that they'd try to get him... You know..." She made the tiniest squeak when Ford placed his right hand on her shoulder, and a stern, yet almost loving gaze came across his eyes.
There was a moment where Pacifica thought her stupid, stupid, seriously stupid, plan was over. There was no way that Mr. Ford was going to do what she asked. He'd come up with some adult, weird, probably scientific reason why they couldn't take Robbie, and she'd probably never see him again. Then he said in a caring voice, "Of course there's room for one more. As long as his parents are... Oh who am I kidding. Just make him come with us!" He threw Pacifica a goofy grin, and said happily, "The more the merrier!"
That was when Pacifica knew that she loved Stanford Pines.
"So there's another Stan Pines? And there's another one of him? And the other of the other is evil?"
Pacifica... Wasn't the best at explaining the situation. But she nodded at Robbie's question. Stanley offered to take her to the CSO (or Compartment for Safe Observation as Pacifica and Gideon had dubbed it) while Ford took Gideon ahead of them. So there Pacifica was, standing on the threshold of the Valentino house, Stanley Pines standing behind her, and Robbie in front of her, looking oddly... chill about what she had just said.
"Alright, I'll bite." Robbie said, leaning against the door. "Why are you telling me? Shouldn't you be telling Blubbs and Durland?" Pacifica looked back at Stan, who shrugged his shoulders and said, "You try talking some sense into my brother. Either of them." Robbie raised his eyebrows, then looked back at Pacifica. "Uh... Paz..."
"Alright... The Pines twins know about... My feelings... And because of that you'd automatically be in danger." Pacifica said quickly, her face and hands beginning to sweat for some strange reason. "Mr. Ford... He said that we could bring you... I'm sure your parents won't mind... I... I just want you to be safe Robbie..." She shut her eyes, and hoped that she didn't begin crying.
Robbie seemed to notice how distraught the girl was, and knelt down in front of her. "Hey, hey, Paz. It's okay... I get it." She opened her eyes slightly, and Robbie gave her a small smile. Stan looked away, as if this was a scene he shouldn't be watching. "If a family of killer psychos was out to get me... I'd want to hide you away too. I'll leave a note for my mom that I'm heading up to that dirt camp they wanted me to go to." An even cheesier grin spread over his face, and Pacifica offered him her own small smile. "Let me pack a few more t-shirts, and I'll go with you to your alien hideout.
"Dude, this sounds so rad."
The CSO was harder to get to than Stan had expected, but the time was well spent with two of the (now three) knuckleheads. Stan was sure that in a few years Robcifica would kick off (what was him and romance? Maybe the two young'uns just reminded him of Carla and himself a bit too much) and they would be the towns newest sweethearts. But for the time being they were better off as just friends.
Yeah right.
Stan could see it in their eyes. Pacifica was awkward and shy around the teenage boy, and he was extra sweet and gentle when he was in her presence. Before the two of them had become friends Stan couldn't stand the kid, but now he was actually starting to act more mature and responsible. A few near-death experiences had helped sure, but this was totally a romance thing.
Who cared if he was three years older than her? There were couples with a wider age gap than that! In fact, Stan's own father was a whole seven years older than his mom, and they worked out just fine! They just thought it was weird because they were young. Stan could help the two of them see their feelings, maybe even get them to date before school even started. As long as Robbie didn't turn sixteen for the next couple of months and they stayed within proper boundaries they'd be fine! Perfectly legal.
Now all Stan had to do was get his brother on his side (the good one. The other Ford wasn't his anymore. Nope. Not in the slightest). One look at the two lovebirds together would surely get Ford on his side. Totally! That was definitely how Ford's mind worked... probably.
The two rascals were talking about... I dunno... Bugs or something. But Stan wasn't really paying attention to their actual words, he was more focused on following his brother's ridiculously small map. He never had the money to pay for cataract surgery and was suffering dearly. He contemplated asking the kids for help, but then he saw exactly what he was looking for.
As in, his brother's body, leaning forward, his right arm holding his body up while his left hung limp. He looked like he had just run ten miles, and Ford looked up as he heard the three others approach.
"Excellent. It'll just be a moment Stanley, Fiddleford and Gideon are calming Shifty down. On the plus side, I got my cardio in for the day." Ford offered Stan a small smile, straightened, and seemed to notice Pacifica and Robbie. His smile grew wider, and his breathing more regular, and he said in a cheery tone, "Ah! You must be the friend Pacifica told me about. A pleasure to meet you..."
He trailed off, showing that he didn't know Robbie's name, and took a step forward, not seeming to notice Robbie's staring at his left shoulder, which had a large (red-tinged) bandage wrapped around it. "Oh... I'm Robbie. It's nice meeting you too Stan 2... Or three. However many of you there are. What happened to your shoulder?" Ford looked over at his injury, and sighed, "Well, originally it was only a knife or two, but then the other version of me happened to be a major-league coo-coo clock, so my old friend jumped me. Then there was an incident a few minutes ago with a shapeshifter... Large spider-person is all I'm going to say... Sorry for any inconvenience Stanley. We tried to get him to calm down before I went in..."
Stan sighed, rolled his eyes, and waved his hand like it was no big deal. "It's your shoulder. I'm just surprised you've ever recovered from anything at the rate you're going." Ford shrugged, then said, "Well, it was rather hard to get myself into trouble when I was all by myself. This time I'm in my own, and another version of me's trouble. So it should take twice as long." He smiled, but it hardly met his eyes. "Do your parents know you're here?"
It took Robbie a moment to realize that Ford was talking to him, and when he did he blinked and shook his head. "I left them a note, they'll be fine with it. They trust me." Ford huffed at that, and said, "Well, I wish I had had your parents. Mine wouldn't have let me within five feet of my house without permission. Count yourself lucky."
Robbie's eyes flicked to Pacifica, who smiled and blushed at his gaze. "Oh I do Mr. Pines, I sure do..."
Hello guys!
I was looking at Reverse Falls fan art (as you do...) and I thought about the regular gang, and then I thought about the reverse gang... and then I thought about Wendip... and then I thought about Rev!Robbie and Rev!Pacifica... and then... This.
I find this pairing to be more adorable than any of the Dipper pairings TBH. I don't know why, I just do (all the good Reverse Falls characters are more adorable).
So as I thought about the gang, here's my versions of them: Nate and Lee are basically your A+ students, who couldn't dream of doing anything even remotely unsafe, Tambry is the exact opposite of a phone-obsessed goth, Thompson is a self-confident emo (if that's even a thing), and Wendy basically takes Robbie's place. I've found some cool fan art, but I don't know who made it... so I can't tell you about it! They're super good though!
I hope you guys enjoyed this! Thanks to CWY reader and SnakeySnake for the reviews, CWY reader, Tziput13 and danielyo for the follows, and CWY reader again for the favorite.
Have a great day you guys!
