Artie V.O: Sometimes sleep is the scariest thing, you wonder if you'll ever wake up again. That's why you can't sleep on a concussion, you don't want to die. But you have to sleep, and even though you have sleepless nights there are some things that you can't control.

Blaine was rearranging his new room, making it his own. They had decided that it was time that Arties room got a name, it was only a matter of time after all.

"So what exactly is a warbler?" Rachel asked

"It's a songbird, my old schools glee club- we were called the warblers I think it's fitting" Blaine smirked

"I like that" Rachel smiled "How come my room doesn't have a name?" She asked

"I guess it's because you're not creative enough yet" Blaine snickered as he continued to colour in the bristol board. "How are things going with you and Finn?"

"Actually really well" She smiled

"And UNOS?" Blaine asked

"I passed my drug test so it's only a matter of time" She sighed.

Finn and Sam were hanging out in their new shared room, Sure they had to make some adjustments like Sam had to be careful not to roll over the 20 feet of tubing that attached Finn to the wall. They actually enjoyed being roommates. They were watching some T.V when suddenly Finn's pager went off. The boys stared at it in shock before they turned to eachother, they started laughing out of pure joy. Nurse Sylvester came in the room

"I assume you noticed" She smiled, Finn nodded "The lungs are two hours away, we'll come get you in half an hour. Dr. Schue's calling your mom right now… congratulations" She smirked before turning out of the room.

Finn turned to Sam and pulled an envelope out from his bedside table.

"I need you to give this to rachel" He said

"Dude, why not just go tell her?" Sam asked confused as to the question

"No, I mean I need you to give this to Rachel if shit starts going downhill in there" Finn said sombreley

"Give it to her yourself man. Nothing bad is gunna happen. When you get out then you can give it to her" Sam said assuring his friend

"If I live through this then this envelope doesn't mean anything… Please" Finn pleaded

"Yeah sure" Sam said. Just then Nurse Sylvester came back in.

"Alright. Let's go" She smiled as Finn lay back in his bed. She unlocked the wheels of the bed and began pushing him out of the room. As they went down the hallway Rachel took notice, she ran out to see what was going on.

"Finn what-"
"I'm getting new lungs like right now" Finn chuckled

"Oh my god! I'm so happy for you" Rachel said as she walked alongside Nurse Sylvester and Finn. when they got to the elevators Finn and Rachel had a real moment.

"I love you, you know that right?" Rachel asked softly
"I know, and I love you too… I'll see you soon" He said before he embraced her. The hug didn't last very long since the elevator doors opened.

Rachel walked back to her room only to find that Sam and Quinn were in there too.

"I assume you guys just found out?" She asked

"Ya… don't worry, you know Finn everything's gunna turn out fine" Quinn said with a soft smile on her face

"Finn?! You're back!" Artie said as he approached the tall brunette kid who had just walked in

"Yeah… I'm getting my lungs" He smiled

"How are things going between you and Rachel?" Artie asked

"Really well, we spend all of our time together, well I mean that's all gunna change now that Sam and I share a room but-"
"You and Sam in one room! Who's genius Idea was that?" Artie chuckled

"Oh yeah- It's complicated, Blaines mom showed up and found out that Sam's Bi and she's like totally not cool with them sharing a room, I didn't hear details but apparently she called Sam a slur and Sam's older brother freaked. So the only thing they could think of was switching the rooms around."

"So Blaine's got a room to himself?" Artie asked. Finn started laughing

"No, Blaine's you're new roomie" He chuckled

"Dang, I'm gunna miss Rachel" Artie said when he noticed that Finn had stopped laughing "you look so calm… what's wrong"
"Nothings wrong I- I just don't exactly know how this surgery's gunna go and… I did something before it. And It makes it okay if I don't… you know"
"Finn, you're not gunna die."
"Nobody really knows that Artie but I like the optimism" Finn chuckled
"What did you do?" He asked

"I signed direct donation papers." Finn said with a proud smirk on his face

"You- you gave her your heart! Does she know?"
"She won't know unless it happens, Sam has the envelope and he's only supposed to give it to her if I start going down" Artie went to speak when suddenly he vanished from thin air "Artie?!" Finn panicked, he ran around searching for him but he couldn't find him anywhere.

The group of them were hanging out in the swamp when Nurse Sylvester came in

"Hey guys, I have someone who's been dying to see you" She said with a huge grin on her face. They followed her down the hall to Arties room. Blaine was standing next to Dr. Schue. They walked in and saw Arties eyes open and moving around, he opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out.

"He'll be talking again soon, a month give or take, but as for right now… awake is enough" Dr. Schue chuckled before he left the kids in the room. They swarmed around him and started talking to him, catching him up on things he might have missed when Sam looked at him.

"Hey, when we were talking to you, when we were under… was that really you?!" The group went silent as they waited for a response, Arties head slowly nodded they all smiled before Sam realized

"That mean's Finn's in there alone"

"We have to do something, he's probably terrified" Blaine said

"Someone needs to talk to him" Sam said softly "Yeah- when I had my bigger surgery I went into the little O.R room and watched it but I heard them talking about it, and talking to me. We have to go tell him that Artie's awake"

The group of them looked at Nurse Sylvester.

"The things I do for you kids" She rolled her eyes before she headed out of the room.

Finn was rapidly running around the room freaking out,

"Where the hell did you go! Did you just die! Did I JUST DIE! OH MY GOD!" HE screamed when suddenly the room around him changed in an instant, he was in the O.R watching his own surgery… when he heard

"He's in cardiac arrest charge to 200!"

He sat on the floor of the O.R and watched them try to restart his heart,

"CLEAR!... Charge to 250… CLEAR"

When Nurse Sylvester walked in the room

"He's back in Sinus" Mr. Schue said relieved. Finn still panicked watched as Nurse Sue walked up to his head

"Finn, I don't know if you can hear me or not, but your friends say that you can so I'm trusting them. Artie woke up, I really want you to meet him so you have to make it through this alright?" She said softly before she headed back out of the room.

When Nurse Sylvester walked back into Artie and Blaines room she was met by staring faces.

"Did you tell him?" Sam asked rapidly

"Yes I did, he knows Artie's awake"

"How's it going in there?" Rachel asked

They could see in nurse Sue's eyes that something was wrong as she tried to put it to words that she wouldn't get fired for saying.

"He hit a rough patch but he should be alright"

"What does a rough patch mean?" Quinn practically trembled

Sue debated for a moment but ultimately realized that these kids deserved to know the truth.

"He coded for a moment, he's back in sinus now. Don't worry but he's going to have to be in the ICU for longer than expected when he gets out"

"His heart stopped?" Blaine asked

"Only for a moment, everything is going to be fine" She said before she left the room

Sam left the room after her and came back with an envelope in his hand. Everyone stared at him as he handed it to Rachel

"I don't know what it is, but he told me to give it to you if shit hit the wall at any point"

"But he's going to be fine! I'm not reading it!" Rachel proclaimed

Blaine noticed that Arties eyes were going wild so he leaned over him.

"Artie what's wrong?" He said before he remembered that he couldn't talk yet. "Okay once for yes twice for no" He said quickly "Do you know what's in that?" He asked

Artie blinked twice

The room filled with more tension

"Should she open it?" Sam asked softly, they all saw the pain in Arties eyes as he reluctantly blinked twice again.

Rachel wiped away her tears as she opened it. Inside was a handwritten letter on a napkin

Rachel, if your reading this it's because I might die or I have died. I love you more than I've ever loved anyone before and I'm so sorry that we didn't get enough time together, but theres something that you deserve. And if I'm gone, I can't imagine it going to anybody else but the love of my life.

"What is it?" Quinn asked softly

"It's his heart"
