So I am back with another Character Study. This time it's for one of my characters named Autumn. Since I decided to yeet Redfire's Shadow into oblivion, I decided to write a Character Study instead.

WARNING: This contains abuse, death, threats, and some sexual references strictly for plot reasons. If you get upset by these themes, I suggest you don't read this.

From the first moment she opened her eyes, all that Redkit knew was death. It was all she saw and all she witnessed. The memories were clear in her mind.

"Mommy?" Redkit squeaked, looking up at Whitenose with big blue and green eyes.

"Ah, I see you opened your eyes, little one." Whitenose purred and licked Redkit's forehead. Suddenly, Redkit heard a loud shouting and she let out a small whimper of fear. A panicked look appeared in Whitenose's blue eyes, hastily placing her tail over Redkit and her littermates protectively.

"WHITENOSE!" A tom shouted. He sounded angry.

"What do you want Swifttail?" Whitenose growled menacingly.

"I'm here to see my kits." The tom, Swifttail, hissed. Redkit trembled a little when she heard him come into the Nursery.

"Swifttail," Whitenose said. Redkit could tell she was trying her best to be calm. "You know full well these aren't your kits, and I am not your mate."

"Well they should be!" Swifttail spat. "You should be mine! Those kits should be mine! But NO! Your dear FLAMESTAR had to go and ruin everything with his mind tricks!"

"Leave, Swifttail." Whitenose growled. "Or I will make you."

"We both know you can't do that." Swifttail replied coolly. Redkit was furious. How dare this stupid cat yell at her mother! "Now where are the kits?"

"I'm not telling you!" Whitenose shouted.

"WHERE ARE THE KITS?!" Swifttail roared. Suddenly, Redkit heard a cry of pain come from her mother and she smelled blood. She felt like letting out a scream and running away from the danger, but she couldn't leave her mother or littermates.

"SWIFTTAIL!" Redkit heard someone screech and the sound of loud paw steps filled the air. Redkit cowered underneath her mother's tail, her paws over her eyes.

"Swifttail, let her go…" Someone said in a calm voice.

"You took from me what I most love, and now I shall take that from you." Swifttail hissed and Redkit heard one last scream before everything was silent. The scent of blood was overwhelming to her. She heard a heart broken wail that turned into an enraged scream and then the scent of blood became stronger.

Redkit peeked out from under her mother's tail and saw that both she, and Swifttail, were dead, blood pouring out of the wounds in their throats.

After that, Redkit and her siblings were handed over to another queen named Snowfeather. She was nice and all, but she never paid much attention to Redkit. It was always her own kits, and Redkit's littermates, that she treated as her own. Shatteredkit and Firekit didn't even know Whitenose had existed, and thought that Snowfeather was their real mother.

Redkit had tried telling them the truth, but of course they wouldn't believe her. Sure, they believed that Whitenose existed, but they thought only Redkit was her kit. It was infuriating to her. So of course, Redkit was teased.

Other cats thought there was something off about her for some reason. Redkit thought that she was perfectly normal. Sure, she was traumatized and such, but it's not like anybody cared. Flamestar could hardly look at her anymore. Snowfeather never paid any attention to her, and her siblings thought she was weird. Such a great life so far, isn't it?

So when Redkit turned six moons old, she became Redpaw and was apprenticed to Songflight. She was an amazing mentor, Redpaw had to admit, but she didn't seem to really like Redpaw that much. Redpaw tried her best, she really did! But it was just so hard to concentrate on hunting or fighting when Shadowpaw was constantly taunting her, or Shatteredpaw kept trying to trip her.

Everybody around her just tried to make her life miserable. Except Emberpaw. Emberpaw was kind to her. He never ridiculed her, he never criticized her. He always complimented her and comforted her. A lot of the time, Redpaw would cry herself to sleep at night. But Emberpaw would always lay down next to her, gently stroking her fur and telling her that everyone was wrong.

"You're beautiful, Redpaw." He would whisper in her ear. "You're beautiful, you're strong, and you're loved. If not by anyone else, then by me."

Redpaw really appreciated his company, and everytime he said he loved her, she got butterflies in her stomach and a smile appeared on her face. Most nights she would fall asleep to Emberpaw grooming her fur. But sometimes she would have to comfort him whenever his mother, Robinspark, was being mean to him.

It seemed that Emberpaw was the only one who liked Redpaw, and she was the only one that liked him. Redpaw...she didn't know why cats didn't like her. And Emberpaw...Swifttail was his father. But Redpaw didn't judge him for that. Her own father had been making some bad decisions lately so Redpaw knew you couldn't judge a cat by who their father was.

Not much had happened to Redpaw in her life so far. Until one day changed everything. Redpaw was sparring with Shadowpaw (getting extremely frustrated by the other Apprentice's tauntings, as usual) when ice exploded at her paws and she felt it spread all over her body. When it stopped, she looked like a monster. Ice covered her fur, spikes jutting out of her back and tail. Icy smoke furled out around her and poured out of the sides of her mouth and her voice was distorted with a chilling tone that would send shivers up your spine.

That was when her life started to go downhill. Redpaw was about ten moons old, while Emberpaw was twelve. And since Redpaw had a power and was finally proved useful (she had been getting a lot better at hunting and fighting) she and her best friend (possibly more than a friend, when she really thought about it) became Warriors. Redpaw received her name, Redfire, and Emberpaw received his. Emberfrost.

"Congratulations, Emberfrost." Redfire purred, padding over to her friend after the Warrior ceremonies. Emberfrost walked closer to her, their pelts brushing.

"I could say the same to you, Redfire." He smirked and gently nuzzled her cheek. Redfire almost shuddered happily at his touch but restrained herself. She gave his ear a friendly lick, hoping she didn't seem like she was flirting with him.

"So uh...I've been doing some thinking." Emberfrost said suddenly, and Redfire froze. Would he not like her anymore because of her powers? She was still the same as she was before!

"You have?" Redfire asked quietly, staring at her paws.

"I really, really like you, Redfire." Emberfrost said, lifting her head so that they were staring each other in the eyes.

"You do?" Redfire whispered, in complete shock. Emberfrost nodded and slowly leaned forward, pulling Redfire into a kiss.

That had been nice. But Redfire didn't realize she was only falling for a trick.

Then Emberfrost got hurt, and was stuck in the medicine den for all of eternity. Redfire wasn't allowed to see him, as there was already greencough going around the camp. So she was lonely again. Flamestar pretended to like her, but she knew it was only so that he could use her for her powers.

Then one night, she met Brambleheart while taking a walk. He understood some of what she was going through, and offered to help. So Redfire sat and talked with him for a while, telling him about her powers, problems, and questions. He listened quietly, occasionally nodding his head. It seemed Redfire found someone else to help her through everything.

Emberfrost eventually got better and the greencough was cured for the most part so Redfire got to be with him again. They became mates, though Redfire was starting to miss seeing Brambleheart more and more each day. He seemed to really like her, and she really liked him. So she would go out and meet him at the border whenever she could get away. He was a lot nicer than her mate. Emberfrost had become...well...Redfire didn't want to say he was a bad mate, because he really wasn't! (at least, that's what she thought) But he just was becoming a lot more difficult to deal with. He seemed to enjoy it when he made Redfire cry because of the insults he threw at her or when he forced her to-

Nevermind that. He was fine during the day, it was just at night when he was hard to deal with. In the meantime, Redfire was worrying about the upcoming war between RiverClan and WindClan. The two Clans grew more and more furious with each other everyday, it was clear there was going to be a war over territory.

But then Flamestar did the unthinkable. He let WindClan take some of RiverClan's territory. Redfire was beginning to think that her father was a complete idiot. But then one day…he pulled her aside...and gave Redfire her mission. Sneak to WindClan. Kill all the queens and kits with her powers. Sneak out unnoticed. Mark the borders very far into WindClan territory. Anyone that gets in the way? Kill them.

Redfire couldn't argue with her father, much less the Clan Leader. So she did what she was told. She murdered innocent kits over territory. And everyone knew it was her. Cats in all the Clans hated her, except for RiverClan, and Brambleheart. He understood that she was forced to do it.

Life still went on a downward spiral. Emberfrost was about 23 moons by now (Redfire about 21) and he had a plan. The second Redfire heard him say those words, she had a sinking feeling. He wanted to kill her father and the deputy, then take over RiverClan. She wanted to say no but...he just unsheathed his claws and raised a paw, ready to strike her. So Redfire did as she was told once again. She killed her father and the deputy, and then Emberfrost became Emberstar.

Redfire knew exactly why everyone was afraid of her, and she hated that reason. She wasn't a monster. She was just trying to stay alive. This stupid power is a curse. I wish I had never been born. Redfire's life was a living Hell.

Emberstar turned into a terrible cat. He would beat Redfire when she did something wrong or just because he felt like it. He would cheat on her, and he knew that she knew he did it. At least Brambleheart still liked her.

"Emberstar spending the night with someone else tonight?" Brambleheart asked Redfire as she approached the border, her head hanging low and her tail drooping. There was a new scar down her shoulder that was still bleeding a bit.

"Yeah," Redfire nodded quietly.

"Come here," Brambleheart said, pulling Redfire into a hug. Redfire sniffed a little. "You can cry if you want…"

"No," she responded.

"Alright," Brambleheart said quietly and started to lick the new scar so that it stopped bleeding. Redfire sat and watched him, wincing a little when his tongue rasped over the part that was still bleeding.

When Brambleheart was done and there were cobwebs on the wound, Redfire leaned into him, resting her head on his shoulder.

"Redfire," Brambleheart whispered.

"Hm?" Redfire asked quietly.

"I love you." He said.

"I know," she responded. She remembered the first time someone had said that to her and started to cry, tears flooding out of her eyes without warning. Brambleheart hugged her close, gently stroking her fur. Through her tears, Redfire saw Brambleheart lean down and use his paw to wipe them away.

"I can fix that." He whispered and gently pulled her into a kiss.

Redfire was devastated when she found out that she was pregnant. She was only fifteen moons old, for StarClan's sake! She hated Emberstar. She hated RiverClan. She hated StarClan. And she hated herself for being so stupid and getting carried away with Brambleheart. She knew that Emberstar was not the kits' father.

Not much happened during Redfire's pregnancy. Thankfully, she wasn't able to really go anywhere so she couldn't be forced to murder anyone. Emberstar got...better for a bit. At night when he would lay down next to her in his den she usually fell asleep to him grooming her fur, which she had to admit, was pretty nice.

But the thing was...Redfire didn't love Emberstar anymore. She didn't love her clan anymore. And she didn't even love Brambleheart anymore. She knew that she couldn't stay for much longer.

The night she almost died kitting made that even more clear. She gave birth to three kits, but only one of them survived. The kit's facial features and such looked a lot like Brambleheart...and Redfire knew what would happen to both of them if Emberstar found out what she had done. So there was only one way to save her sorry pelt.

Her only surviving kit, Amberkit, had to die. So one night, Redfire brought her out into the forest, and left her near and fox's den. She didn't have the guts to kill her herself. Then she ran.

Away from RiverClan, away from Emberstar, away from Brambleheart, and away from her entire life to start over. She walked for days on end, until she finally came to twoleg place, where she met a kittypet.

Redfire trudged along an old thunderpath, her head drooping and her tail dragging in the dirt. She was exhausted, but she had to keep walking. If she stopped she would risk getting caught by the Clans again.

"Hello!" A cheery voice said. Redfire jumped and lifted her head until she saw a plump gray tabby she-cat staring at her.

"Uh...hi…" Redfire said quietly. The cat had a weird accent that Redfire had never heard before.

"How are you doing this fine autumn day?" The cat asked. "I'm Fern, by the way."

"Autumn?" Redfire asked, feeling confused. "Do you mean Leaf-Fall?"

"Autumn, Leaf-Fall, they're the same thing." Fern answered. "What's your name?"

Redfire racked her brain for a new name for herself. "Uh...my name is...A-Autumn." She said, not really thinking.

"I used to live next to a cat named Autumn." Fern said dreamily. "She was gorgeous!"

"Uh...er…I really have to get going." Redfire, or Autumn, said. "It was nice to meet you, Fern."

"Alrighty, cya Autumn!" Fern chirped. "It was nice meeting you too!"

Then Redfire set off, with her new identity. Autumn.

I hope you guys enjoyed this, I guess I enjoyed writing it (for the most part). Anyways, I don't have much else to say. Have a nice day and stay safe.
