Thirty minutes.

That's all it took—for me to get aimlessly, helplessly lost.

"Sure Anna, forget the roads and actual paths! Go through the woods—it'll be better!" I glared ahead of me, looking around in circles—trying to figure out which way to go. Huffing out a sigh of annoyance at my own naivety, I started walking towards my left.

With any luck, it'd at least lead me to a path of some sort.

"Maybe if Gabe was here—he'd—"

"What's the matter buttercup? You look like someone ate the last of your candy."

My head snapped towards the right so quickly that my neck hurt after.

"How-?!" I exclaimed, my left hand rubbing the back of my neck to ease the sharp pain.

"Meh, technicalities," Gabriel shrugged off, pushing up off a tree he was leaning on and walking over towards me.

"Don't tell me—they sent you," I griped, crossing my arms in front of my chest.

"Okay, I wont," he agreed," Doesn't mean you weren't in the right though."

"Look- wait, what?"

"They get under your skin, think they can be your friend one minute and boss you around the next," Gabriel explained, feigning a thoughtful look," Brothers—am I right?"

"You don't know the half of it," I frowned, rolling my eyes much to his enjoyment," I've barely known them for half a year—not even six months yet! They agree to take me with them and then drop me off at Bobby's and disappear. They tell me I have a choice to hunt or not—and then when I entertain the idea of it I get immediately shut down! I wish they'd make up their mind already! Do they want me around—do they want me in the family—or not?!"

Gabriel pursed his lips, nodding in agreement.

"And I mean—they treat me like I don't know what's going on! Like I don't know about the hell they've been through and the literal apocalypse they started! They act like they don't realize this isn't all about them—I've been dragged into the middle, whether they like it or not! Lucifer-!"

"Won't. Touch. You."

The ferocity of his tone took me by surprise, and my arms slowly dropped to my side.

"What? You gonna fight your own brother- for, who—me? I'm no one. Just a little girl, who's mother was possessed by a demon and later killed; who's father walked in her life and then walked out and never came back; who's brother's don't even give her a chance to do anything; who's—"

"So much more important than she realizes."

His statement caught me off guard; all I could do was stand there and stare at him.

"Okay… what?" I thought, glancing off to the side to break eye contact.

"What you need right now—is a break. A day to be—be you. Be a kid," Gabriel finally said, breaking the awkward silence that had settled between us.

"Right—and what exactly do you propose, Candyman?" I asked sarcastically.

Slowly, he walked over to me—and wordlessly, with a flirty double-lift of his eyebrows—took me away from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Away from Sam and Dean. Away from Lucifer. Away from all my troubles.

Seconds later, we arrived somewhere else—and my footing faltered, causing me to lean on Gabriel for support.

"Warn me next time!" I complained, furrowing my eyebrows as I glanced up at him before looking around at our surroundings," W-where are we?"

"Mmmm nowhere important. We're here for fun though!" Gabriel explained, smiling wide and holding his arms out as he gestured around him," Endless things to do! Where do you wanna start, cupcake? Oh! I know—what about the carousel?!"

I stared at the celestial being in front of me dumbfounded.

"There's no way this guy- is an all-mighty arch angel," I deadpanned, crossing my arms in front of me as I answered him," Seriously? I'm not a child."

His amused expression never faltered as he just smirked at me," You ever been on one?"

"W-well… I mean… no—" I admitted, glancing down at the ground.

"The come on, Gumdrop!" Gabriel smiled brilliantly, grabbing my hand and pulling me through the empty amusement park towards the carousel thirty feet away. As we neared, I noticed it was the typical all-horse one.

"Seriously, Candyman?" I questioned him, as he pat the top of one of the horses expectantly.

"What?" He asked me, incredulously.

"It's the middle of the Apocalypse—my brothers and I are at odds—your brother wants to use my skin—and you bring me to a strangely deserted amusement park."

"And?" He crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"AND- you technically kidnapped me. I'm still seventeen," I pointed out, crossing my own arms.

"Technically—I didn't kidnap you, remember? Bobert sent me—and in their own… unappreciative way, so did your brothers. They don't know I actually came and got you—for all they know I just disappeared and went on my merry way," Gabriel admitted with a shrug.

I opened my mouth to retort but nothing came to mind- so I just stood there glaring at him for a moment longer until he reached out and pat the horse once again. Before he pulled his hand away from the inanimate animal, he simply asked," Trust me?"

Rolling my eyes, I hesitated another moment, before walking up to the side and climbing on top. When I got situated, I looked to my left and saw Gabe had climbed up side-saddle on one of the horses. With a smirk, he reached up and snapped his fingers, the ride slowly starting up.

Hours later, we made our way through towards a huge tank of water.

"Seriously? A dunk tank?" I asked him," Can't we do something that doesn't require movement? I'm wore out! Between the whack a mole and the laser tag—and the paint ball, which- by the way, my rib still hurts."

"I've apologized a bajillion times, cupcake," Gabriel frowned, before pointing to the tank with a smile," You can even dunk me! If you can hit the target, anyway." He wiggled his eyebrows in challenge, causing me to narrow my eyes at him.

"Prepare to swim, Candyman."

He barked a laugh, before disappearing and reappearing on the small sitting spot, legs dangling off the sides. Gabriel looked completely at ease—not a care in the world.

"So, do anything fun recently—before today?" he asked nonchalantly, as I picked up a baseball.

"Nope. Sam and Dean haven't taken me on a case since… well, actually since your little T.V show joke."

I threw the first one and missed completely," Dammit."

Gabriel let out a low whistle," Target's over here, Gumdrop. Try again."

"Shuddup. I know what I'm doing."

"Sure you do. That's why you missed," he jabbed," Aside from hunts—anything?"

"Mmm," I thought," No. Just lot of school stuff. Bobby started me at the Adult Education center to just get my GED. The High School teachers aren't doing their job- Dammit! Come on!" I swore, as the ball once again missed the target entirely.

"That sucks," Gabriel frowned," You need more fun in your life. Keep's it bearable, especially for you humans."

"What's that supposed to mean?!"

"Just that you guys have such a limited life—compared to angels or demons, vampires even. We can live so much longer lives, do more—have more fun. You humans though? You go to school—wasting away the day. Homework, chores. Part time jobs. Then you graduate and either do more school or go to a full time job. Still waste the day with nothing fun. Before you know it, your fifty with four kids in school and youre still wasting the day with boring stuff. Then your eighty, using a cane or walker—and can't do anything fun because it's too much effort. Bam- then your dead."

"Thanks for the rundown to the next seventy years of my life," I deadpanned, throwing another ball. It came closer this time, but still missed.

"It's why I'm here," Gabriel smiled, before turning serious," What about your dreams?"

"What? How—"

"You told me—back at the warehouse."

I stopped and thought about it, before slowly nodding as I remembered our long conversation.

"Well… I mean… I've had a few…"

"Anything recent?"

"One… I kinda didn't tell Sam and Dean about it though," I admitted," But not because I just—didn't tell them—it's because I didn't know the people I was seeing. But this morning… I met them…"

"Two ladies that were at Singers, I'm assuming?"

"Yeah," I nodded solemnly.

"What happened?"

I stood still, a baseball in my hand, for a few moments—before winding up and throwing it full force at the target.

And missed.

"I don't wanna talk about it." I gritted out, as my mind went back to the moment I saw—the last moment of a mother and her daughter.

"I will always love you, baby." Ellen whispered to Jo, leaning against her daughter. In the distance, Hellhounds can be heard—and Ellen looks back down to Jo, who's stopped moving.

"Honey?"

No reaction.

"Jo-" Ellen sobbed, holding her daughters lifeless body closer," It's okay. It's okay." She kissed the top of her head, whispering," That's my good girl."

The door across the room burst open, causing Ellen to look straight at it. She can't see them, but two Hellhounds stand at the doors, slowly creeping into the space. They make their way through the store, one walking right up next to where Ellen sat with Jo. It's breath made Ellen's hair move; she holds onto a trigger in her and Jo's hand—before forcing a grin.

"You can go straight back to hell, you ugly bitch!"

An explosion rocks the street.

"Got a feeling we're gonna be here a while, sweet cheeks," Gabriel said, interrupting my thought. He snapped his fingers and a huge bucket of baseballs appeared," There ya go. Maybe you can hit it with at least one of them?"

"Ya know what?" I sassed back, running straight at the target and slamming both my hands against it—taking Gabriel by surprise as he fell into the waters below. After he resurfaced, he wiped his hands over his face and slicked back his hair a little, playfully glaring at me.

"That was dirty!"

"Serves ya right," I stuck my tongue out at him," Oh—and your brother's visited me a couple times. Nothing major ya know. Just trying to get me to agree to him—save my brothers, save the world." Gabriel disappeared from the tank and reappeared beside me, completely dry.

"Let me be honest with you, sweets. As long as Lucifer is top side—no one is safe. Even if you did say yes to him to protect Samsquatch and Deano. Something, somehow—would happen to them. Plus—your soul? That'd be gone—completely. No getting that back. There would be no coming back from being Luci's vessel."

"Wh—" As I began to ask, five people appeared around us, angel blades in hand. Gabriel's whole demeanor changed instantly, and he reached out to me—pulling me close to him.

"Wrong carnival, boys. Freak show done left already." They stared at him, before one of them blinked—their eyes turning pitch black—and looked over at me.

"We've been instructed to not hurt you, but… Victoire is dead because of you, so…"

Instantly, upon locking eyes with him—my whole body froze.

The eyes—I froze every time. Why? Why couldn't I get past this?

"Get to her? Gotta go through me," Gabriel told him, squaring his shoulders and standing as tall as he could.

"Easy enough."

Instantly, two of them launched themselves at Gabriel as one pulled me away. I screeched at the contact, trying to pull away from the demon chick—but it was futile. Ahead of me, I saw Gabriel momentarily look back, before he resumed focus on the four other demons. As one stepped forwards with the angel blade, Gabriel rammed his hand into the demons shoulder, snapping it backward and taking the weapon away. With the newly acquired blade, Gabriel swung it around—burying it in the neck of another demon.

"He's going to win!" I thought with excitement—before that turned to dread as more demons appeared. At least a dozen more had to have joined. There was no way-

"Close your eyes Anna!" I heard Gabriel yell—and this time, I didn't hesitate to trust him. My eyes scrunched close and seconds later a blinding light seemed to envelope me. I felt the arms holding me slacken before disappearing—and I used my freed arms to cover my eyes even more. The light was still blinding, even with having my eyes closed. After a moment, the light disappeared, and I felt a gentle hand cup the side of my face. Blinking my eyes open, I came face to face with Gabriel as he was knelt beside me.

I could see the worry in his golden eyes, so to try and ease his mind—I gave him a small smile.

"Gabriel… why? Why are you so adamant on protecting me?" I asked him softly, not sure if I would like the answer or not.

"One-Hundred percent honesty?" He asked, reminding me of the pact he made back in T.V land. I gave a nod, so he continued," There's some sort of connection between us… I don't know what it is… I really don't. Maybe it's something to do with my brothers and your brothers. Maybe it's something else entirely… I've tried to ignore it—the need to be near you, to protect you. But I can't. So, that's why I'm protecting you—Anna Marie Weston-Winchester—Because I have to. For my own sanity."

AUTHORS NOTE:

So! I used to just have Anna for this. Then Seraphiel and Miranda jumped in. Couple weeks ago/month ago, I scrapped the original plans for Miranda and changed her completely. The new version works better anyways, so- it works out. Then, a few weeks back, this new character just... politely knocked on my muses door and asked to be included- and how could I say no?

I've got some videos up, if anyone's interested. It'll kinda give you some insight for the fic/pairings
