Keldeo the Critic- Season Six
Episode 7: Editorial 4- Pink Floyd's The Wall
Roxie stood with her eyes closed as she could hear music playing. Even though her band mates were standing right next to her as they played, the instruments sounded muffled, as though the music was coming from someplace far away from her perspective. As the music built up, Roxie took a few steps forward, and she opened her eyes as the curtain rose. Before her stood a huge crowd of people in black Neo Team Plasma outfits, cheering wildly and saluting towards her. The entire stage and surrounding area was even decked out in Team Plasma flags. Roxie herself was also clad in a similar looking uniform, and she raised a clenched fist, which caused the cheering to intensify exponentially.
Roxe stepped towards a podium and leaned against it as the cheering died down a bit so she could speak.
"So ya
Thought ya
Might like to go to the show?
To feel the warm thrill of confusion!
That space cadet glow!
I've got some bad news for you, sunshine
Roxie ain't well, I'm schizophrenic as Hell!
The pressures of this world have driven me mad!
And unlike Doug I'll make sure that we all understand!"
Roxie peered out into the audience and continued.
"Are there any victims of discrimination here tonight?
Well you've all got a Wall (Got! A! Wall!)
You feel life's not right!
And now you wanna fight!
That's why you built yourself a Wall (Built! A! Wall!)
Were you insulted for your religion?!
Have you been abused?!
Looked down upon for your race, gender, or views?!
Well now you're so mad!
You're so filled with hate!
So when you finally lash out. . .
Inflicting pain feels great!"
The crowd of Neo Team Plasma grunts went wild at this as the music reached a crescendo. Roxie raised her arms and said, "Alright! Now that we've been hurt by the world, it's time for us to hurt the world back! Let's cause as much pain as we possibly- no, no more. I can't keep this up."
The music immediately stopped as Roxie lowered her arms and shook her head. The green screen audience disappeared, and Keldeo walked on stage with Koffing floating next to him.
Roxie sighed and shook her head. "Sorry, Keldeo, but I just don't wanna do this anymore."
Keldeo nodded, "Yeah. I've kinda gotten tired of Pinkie Floyd's The Wall. I mean, I started this review to give attention to the mental health crisis and the show how important it is for people with issues like depression to get legitimate help."
Roxie smiled at Keldeo and said, "Yeah, and I'd say you've succeeded at that in the previous parts we got out. . . but this last part. . ." Roxie's smile faded as she thought of the next parts.
Keldeo sighed and said, "You're right. Waiting For the Worms just feels. . .wrong. Sure, The Trial is awesome. . .but it's not worth going through that. And the ending kinda implies a vicious cycle. . so. . .it's kinda depressing."
"Hey," Koffing remarked, "I'm pretty sure the problem is just that no one had been leaving any reviews for this analysis."
Keldeo winced at this, but shrugged and said, "Yeah. That's part of it. Even worse is that. . .well. . .this isn't any fun anymore. And if I'm not having fun. . .if none of us are having fun. . .why are we even doing this?"
Koffing grinned and said, "So we can get to my scene during Outside the Wall were I float over to Roxie and we hug to symbolize how things can get better once a person gets a hold of their depression."
Keldeo looked apologetic and said, "I'm sorry, Koffing, but-."
"Ah, I'm just messing with you," Koffing said casually as he floated over to Roxie's side.
Roxie petted Koffing, then turned back to Keldeo said, "Well, now what?"
Keldeo thought for a moment, then he said, "Well, as for the album. . .it's okay. There are a couple of songs with questionable content, and many of the songs require the context of the rest of the songs, but it does have a good message about trauma, depression, mental health, and how people use their own pain as an excuse to hurt others. A lot of thought was put into these songs, and I respect it for that."
The three of them nodded, then Koffing said, "So, Keldeo. . . what are you gonna do next?"
Keldeo flashed a smile and said, "I'm gonna talk about a certain pony movie. . ."
Keldeo then trotted off, leaving Roxie, Koffing, and the rest of Koffing and the Toxics on the stage.
Roxie looked at Koffing and said, "So what are we gonna do?"
Koffing grinned and said, "Do a cover of Lazy by the Living Tombstone?" (TinyURL: yy5ypqjb)
"AWESOME!" Roxie and the rest of the band shouted, and they all launched into the awesome song.
