~Namikaze Minato~

"... So THAT was what the machine was for!" Mei Hatsume shouted with a wide smile when she looked at the pills that her teacher had helped her to make.

She was the interning of Minato fucking Namikaze, in the top scientists of the last 100 years easily. The inventor who never worked for any one company for long, a legend that had a literal line of over 1000 people hoping to get chosen as his intern. She had shown off all of her inventions, and she had been picked.

"Yes, sorry to make you work all night with me. Your Zoom Quirk is very handy for paying attention to details. My eyes have been getting worse lately, and with your great Quirk and your enthusiam what would have taken me 3 months of work only took 3 and a half weeks." Minato had to pat Mei on the top of her head, a tired smile on his face. While she had been going through 1 sleepless night, he had been up for 2 days straight. "You did good work Mei, with these heroes all over will be able to beat exhaustion." Minato sighed and collapsed into his chair.

He managed it.

He managed to make the pills, one of his few original creations that he wasn't being paid to make. Usually for him to expend so much effort on an invention, he needed to be getting paid in advance, but this was one of the few times that he invented a medicine purely for the sake of inventing it. The machine that carefully mixed the chemicals together, and infused them with his own "Vitality" Quirk genetic, was finished and the pills just needed to be tested.

"Okay Sensei, I think you need one of these." Mei stated as she picked up a pill and handed it over to him.

He waved her off.

"No thank you, they wouldn't work on me anyway. My Quirk is Vitality, and this pill will, in theory, give people a boost to their vitality by boosting their Quirk for a short amount of time. It won't work with my Quirk being Vitality. It's just age catching up to me is all." Minato didn't want to place blame, because he loved his son.

Even with his "Vitality" Quirk, his body could only handle so much before negative effects started to show up. Having his wife suck out his vitality for years from when they were teenagers and she had trouble controlling herself, and raising a child that needed to drain his vitality as well, took a massive toll on his body. It didn't hurt him much anymore since Naruto learned to somewhat control how much vitality he stole from others.

"You're only..."

"I'm almost 37." Minato stated out loud, before he looked at a picture he kept on his desk of his late-wife holding a newborn Naruto in her arms, with him having his arms wrapped around her. '-and my wife and son had the Succubus Quirk. Raising a child by yourself, being a full time father, working 13 hour days, and the stress of worrying about my son really takes it's toll.' Minato kept his private thoughts to himself.

Mei was his intern, not his personal therapist, and though he asked her to pull an all nighter with him and has asked that of her a couple of nights in the previous weeks as well, he couldn't go treating her unprofessionally yet.

"You're that old?"

Mei didn't know when to keep her mouth shut sometimes.

'She reminds me of Naruto before he started to actually notice that people treated him differently... when he started to hate his Quirk.' Minato could understand why he picked this girl. She was an open book that was extremely honest with her feelings and thoughts. She was just like Naruto had been before his peers started to treat him differently.

Naruto had been born with his Quirk active, Quirks could activate for the first time anytime between birth and 4 years old. Now, when he had been an innocent child he didn't understand why adults were so often freaked out by him and avoided him. He didn't understand why adults were protecting Naruto from themselves by being cold and distant to them.

Adults weren't ruled by their sexual drive completely, and when those adults found themselves sexually attracted to a literal child, most of them felt disgusted with themselves. So they would avoid Naruto or treat him coldly so that they protect Naruto from themselves, AND protect themselves from what would happen to them if they did anything.

Naruto was both hated and beloved as a child.

"I want to be a hero, one that can protect everyone!"
"I want to be a hero, one that protects all the people who protected me!"
"I need to be a hero, I have to protect Mom's dream."
"I have to be a hero, because my Quirk makes people do evil things, and it's my duty to make up for what I've done."

'... When he was a kid, Naruto loved his Quirk and he wanted to protect people... but the older he got, the more he started to hate his Quirk. He got it in his head that he doesn't have a choice but to be a hero, because he feels guilt about the effect his Quirk has on others.' Minato looked towards Mei.

Her Quirk was Zoom, her eyes could zoom in on small details and see further distances. Her Quirk was not suited towards hero work, but it was suited for so many other good things in life. Her Quirk didn't cause any problems for other people, unless Mei purposely used her Quirk to spy on people, to which SHE was breaking the law.

Naruto's Quirk could cause people to lose control of their lust, and go out and commit crimes against others or try to commit crimes against Naruto. Naruto, just by existing, was a problem for other people. A child would not understand that, but as he matured, he truly saw how he hurt others.

"So, what is so special about these other than them being what amounts to super caffeine pills?" Mei asked as she picked up one.

Somebody needed to test them, so she opened her mouth and swallowed it without wasting any time. Minato looked at her with a raised eyebrow, before he turned to his computer and printed out a document.

"I'm going to need you to sign this, so I'm not liable and can't be sued if there are side effects... I wasn't going to have you test that. You need to wait until I say they are safe for human testing." Minato stated as he passed the paper to Mei to sign.

*Grumble*

"... Uh-oh." Mei felt something happen in her gut, and a pressure building and moving downwards. She grabbed her stomach with both hands, before she took one hand off of her stomach to sign the paper. "... I think I found the side effect, and it does not wait to kick in." Mei had nearly no delay between taking the pill and the side effects.

By the way, right now her eyesight was somehow stronger than normal, and she felt all the sleepiness she had felt completely gone. The pills worked wonders, and Mei turned around and started to RUN towards the stairs to head up to a room she now needed to use.

The restroom.

Mei pushed Naruto out of the hallway and down the stairs on her way, but Naruto started to float before anything happened to him. He looked down the stairs at Minato, before he looked over to the restroom doors.

Ungodly sounds came from the bathroom.

"... Side effects, instant and terrible diarrhea. Since the body becomes supercharged, the metabolism also recieves an extreme boost. Thus the intestines must do their job an an extremely fast rate... which results in the bowels trying to shoot out everything inside of them. This could possibly lead to sudden weight loss as well... the pills are not ready yet." Minato stated as he looked at the pills again. He sighed to himself and looked towards Naruto, who was carrying a tray with him.

It was a cup with medicine in it, and a turkey sandwhich.

"... I don't know what you're working on, but you need to sleep. Grab a bite to eat, drink this sleep aid, and go to your room. I'll call Mei's parents to come pick her up... the hell Dad!?" Naruto shouted out when Minato grabbed the sandwhich and stood up. He reached out and ruffled Naruto's hair, right between the horns where his head was sensative.

Minato just smiled.

This was why he worked so hard, to create a medicine that could supply Naruto with the vitality that he needed. A way that Naruto could stop feeling guilty about needing to take it from others, so that Naruto could open his heart to people without fearing hurting them. He wanted to make medicine that would make it so that Naruto wouldn't emit a scent that could cause others to react.

He wanted to give this pure hearted boy a path to a normal life, he wanted his son to be happy, and no matter the cost to him he planned on doing it. He would go any number of sleepless nights without food, just so that one day he could see his son give him a happy smile that wasn't subdued, a day where Naruto could wear normal clothes without needing to force himself to wear a ton of layers.

"Yeah, goodnight Naruto, tell Mei that the side effects shouldn't last longer than how long the pill was intended to last... so about half a hour." Minato gave his son a message to pass on. He took the medicine, and left the lab, so that he could go get some sleep in his bed.

Naruto waited until his father was gone, before he sighed.

"Seriously old man... you need to take better care of yourself." Naruto rubbed the back of his head.

He really wished he could understand what his father was always working on, or why he always worked so hard. They were very different people though, and try as he might to understand his father, he lined up so much more with his mother's personality.

He needed to work harder, so that his father could have an easier life as soon as possible.
