Chapter 9: To Boot

Ruby moaned in pain not long after she awoke, clutching her stomach due to the pain caused by the Doom Slayer. She fell to her left, landing on Crescent Rose, as the Doom Slayer picked up his Chainsaw and grabbed his Scroll. He pulled the edges apart, revealing the screen inside, and tapped on it. Yang rushed to her sister and held her in a warm embrace, a jarring feeling due to her ice cold body temperature.

"Owwwww…" Ruby moaned.

The Doom Slayer tapped at his Scroll and pulled up a display of a storm with a life sign in the miniscule eye, small enough to hold two life forms and nothing more. The storm surrounded a large campus. Beacon. Thunder rumbled outside, and the lights flickered on and off, gaining temporary energy. The Doom Slayer trotted towards the door of the classroom and pushed aside anyone who got in his way.

He pushed open the door and trotted through the hallway, attempting to locate the exit or an enclosed area big enough for him to make a dimensional rift. Teams RWBY and JNPR exited Port's classroom and the Doom Slayer slowed to a stop.

"Where are you going?" Ruby shouted.

The Slayer turned his head back at Ruby before turning back and continuing to walk through the hall. He heard footsteps behind him and stopped, knowing that the two teams were following him. He summoned a small slipgate in front of him and tossed the Chainsaw through before reaching inside and grabbing his Super Shotgun. The Slipgate closed and he turned around, loading two shells into the weapon.

"Leave. Now." Samuel Hayden said through the Slayer's helmet, able to be heard by those outside.

"No." Yang responded, stepping forward.

"Whatever you're going to do, we'll be coming with you." Weiss told the Slayer, stepping forward as well.

"Fine." Hayden said, voicing the Slayer. "But don't get in my way."

The Slayer turned around and trotted through the hallway, eventually finding a door. He grabbed the handle and began to twist.

"You can't be serious." Pyrrha said, causing him to let go and clench his fists in anger.

"It's dangerous out there. You-" Jaune added, but was cut off.

"Then stay inside." Hayden said for the Slayer once more before he pulled open the door and stepped outside.

The Slayer stepped into the middle of Beacon's courtyard, the eight students near the classroom complex's doorway at the border of a safe haven and dangerously close to gusts of wind from Hell itself. A bolt of lightning struck the Slayer, doing no damage to him. The red lights on his Praetor Suit now glowed cobalt, supercharged by the electricity. The Slayer looked skyward towards the eye of the storm and found two red eyes, burning with malice, staring back at him.

The Slayer triggered his Delta V Jump Boots, which thrust him skyward with much more force than usual, supercharged by the electricity he had received. He entered the eye of the storm and grabbed the Grimm inside by its neck and pushed it to the ground. He fired his Super Shotgun, only for the shot to be dodged by the creature. The two landed multiple feet from the door to the classroom complex, giving the eight students inside a clear view of what he was fighting. The Slayer flipped down the barrels of his Super Shotgun and loaded two shells into the weapon as the Cyclone Grimm at his feet threw its arms into the air. A downward spiral came from the storm above them, a tornado, but the Slayer called the Grimm's bluff and shot it in the head. The storm dispersed due to the death of its summoner and the Slayer walked away from the scene and towards Beacon Tower. He had things that he had to attend to.

The Slayer cleaned his Super Shotgun in his quarters one of the three monitors before him displaying a view of Team RWBY's dorm, Ruby stuffing her face full of candy, Yang laying on her bed with her face pressed into her pillow, Blake calmly reading a book and Weiss nowhere to be found. She left to spare her sanity. The Slayer set down his Super Shotgun and grabbed his mouse, waking up his other two monitors. He moved his cursor through his collection of downloads such as Doom, Doom II: Hell on Earth, Final Doom, Doom 64, Doom 3, Doom 3: BFG Edition, Doom (2016), Doom Eternal, Doom VFR, Bethesda Pinball, Fallouts 1 through 4 along with New Vegas, Wolfenstein 3D, Commander Keen, Skyrim and games that aren't related to Bethesda(along with more that are). He opened a folder labeled, nostalgia and found three games inside. Halo: Combat Evolved, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and RWBY Grimm Eclipse. He closed out of the folder and entered into his 3D Modeling software and entered a file named 'Project CS'.

Ruby glanced at the clock. The time was 12:02. Today was November 1st. Ruby frowned and looked over at her sister, who slept soundly in her bunk. Ruby quietly dropped down from her bed and snuck towards the door. She slowly twisted the knob and pulled the door open before stepping through and slowly closing it. She pulled out her Scroll and opened it as she continued through the hallway. She checked the status of her team, finding that almost all of them were at full aura levels except for her, due to the kick to her stomach. She reached the lobby and heard a loud pounding noise. The trapdoor in the floor lurched upwards out of the floor, being held together by a locked chain between the two handles on the door. The pounding continued as Ruby took cover behind a corner. The chain broke and the trapdoor burst open, causing a Beowolf to crawl out. It sniffed the air before returning to all fours and crawling towards where Ruby was hiding, as if it was targeting her. The beast neared the corner and grabbed at the wall, supporting itself. It rounded the corner, glancing towards Ruby's hiding spot and not finding her there. It glanced to the other side and found the girl nervously waving at it. It gaped its jaws, preparing to attack, before an armored gauntlet grabbed it by the bony outer shells on top of its head.

Honestly, I wasn't that much of a fan of this chapter, the whole fighting the weather thing was very stupid in my eyes, and I'm an optimist. I thought Volume 5 was pretty good, so I would say that I'm overly optimistic. Anyway, I just wanted to tell all of you why the Doom Slayer is keeping tabs on Ruby. It's because he sees her as a younger and gender-swapped version of himself. The two characters are extremely similar. They both have some sort of a weapon fetish, they both kill things that are sometimes(at least) called demons(Badge and the Burden), they both kill those things as a job and they both can't die(one literally being immortal and the other because of plot armor). I would like to thank all of you that are reading this for not abandoning this story(it's been really hard, I know), and I would like to thank you for the precious time that you have spent doing so. Thank you.

P.S. I'm thinking of taking a break from this story to work on my others such as Unholy Divinium, Haloless Angel, Armistice and my upcoming story(that will remain nameless for now). I will thank you for being patient when I return.

P.S. Once More: So, I'm gonna go through two things with this. First, the Halo CE and CoD Black Ops III easter eggs were a reference to Haloless Angel and Unholy Divinium, if you haven't read either, I don't blame you, nobody has. Second, that final… scene was basically just pointing that Ruby is being targeted by [guess who], who obviously sees her as a threat, due to her silver eyes. Thank you for your time, have a nice day.
