Chapter 10: The Battle of New York pt. 2
Back on the helicarrier, Fury was speaking with the world council.
"Director Fury, the council has made a decision." the woman said
"I recognise that the council has made a decision." Fury said "But given that it is one of the dumbest decisions I've ever heard of in my life, I have elected to ignore it."
"Director." Gideon Malick said through the line "You're closer than any of our ships, you scramble that jet-"
"That is the island of Manhattan, Councilman." Fury interrupted "Until I'm certain my team can't hold it, I will not order a nuclear strike against a civilian population."
"If we don't do this, we lose everything." Councilman Malick said
"I send that bird out, we already have." Fury replied as he hung up the call on the World Council.
Back in New York, Loki flew through the streets on his floater that he had taken from one of the Chitauri soldiers. Barton spotted him, he aimed an arrow at him and steadied himself. Barton fired the arrow, Loki caught it with ease. He looked at the explosive arrow, which detonated, sending Loki flying to Stark Tower. Loki got up as he saw the Hulk flying in the air, Hulk landed beside Loki and smashed him through the glass wall. Loki got up off the ground and looked at Hulk with rage.
"Enough!" Loki declared as Hulk stopped to listen to him "You are all beneath me, I am a god you dull creature! And I will not be bullied by-"
Loki was cut off by Hulk picking him up by the legs and smashing him all over the ground again and again. Hulk stopped for a second holding Loki by his ankles, he then threw Loki to the ground. Loki landed on his back and was extremely still due to the pain as Hulk walked out of Stark Tower.
"Puny god." Hulk said to himself
Back on the streets, Tony flew around in his suit as one of the flying creatures followed him. Tony then suggested a way to attack.
" .V.I.S, have you ever heard of the tale of Jonah?" Tony asked
"I wouldn't consider him a role model." .V.I.S. replied
Tony ignored .V.I.S.' warning as he flew into the creature's mouth, Tony struggled as he ripped right through the insides of the creature. Tony flew out of the creature and fell on the ground as he rolled over the ground. Tony got up slowly but was interrupted by Chitauri soldiers blasting him with their scepter-guns as Tony was thrown back. Back on a rooftop building, Hulk took out two Chitauri soldiers. Hulk looked above to his right as he saw multiple Chitauri soldiers in flying vehicles, the creatures began blasting Hulk with everything they had as that was too much for even the Hulk. On the streets, Barry had just run Barton down onto the street to help him with the fighting. Barry got blasted in the stomach as he fell to the ground and groaned, Barton loaded an arrow as he fired it at the Chitauri soldier in front of them killing it. Barton gave Barry a hand, Barry accepted it.
"You alright, kid?" Barton asked
"Never better." Barry replied as he removed his cowl and threw it back like a hood
"You didn't see that coming?" Barton asked
"Believe it or not, no." Barry answered as he looked at his suit.
Like Steve's, it was slightly ripped on the sleeves and dusty. Behind a damaged taxi, a woman was hiding as she noticed Barry and took a couple of photos of him and smiled to herself. Well he's hot under that mask she thought to herself.
"Skye!" a man from behind called "Look out!"
Skye looked and noticed a Chitauri coming at her, she got up with her hands in surrender position. Skye slowly moved back from the Chitauri soldier, who was holding a sort of gun at her. Suddenly, a red blur came in and the Chitauri soldier was knocked tens of feet away from Skye and the man. Skye looked at Barry.
"Thank you." Skye said quickly
"Yeah, no problem." Barry replied "What are you doing here?"
"Nothing." Skye lied "Thanks again for that save, you didn't have to do that."
Really Skye, that's the best you can do? she thought to herself
"Really?" Barry said "'Cause to me, it looks like I saved you from an early grave."
"I guess you did." Skye replied as she struck out her hand "I'm Skye."
"Barry." Barry said as he shook her hand
"How are you so fast?" Skye asked
"I'll leave you to figure that out." Barry said as he picked Skye and the man near her and ran them inside a building.
"Whoa!" The man said "Super cool!"
"How fast are you? And why's there lightning coming from your body?" Skye asked quickly
"Maybe another time, Skye." Barry said
And with that, Barry ran out of the room in a flash of orange-yellow lightning.
"Hello Barry." Skye said to herself
"We're not just going to forget that guy, are we?" the man with Skye asked
"Nope, not at all." Skye replied as she looked out the window looking for any flashes of lightning.
On the top of the helicarrier, the two pilots got ready to take off and drop the nuke in Manhattan.
"Director Fury is no longer in command." the woman from the council said "Override order 7-Alpha-1-1."
"7-Alpha-1-1 confirmed, we're go for takeoff." the pilot replied
Back inside the helicarrier, Maria Hill had just found out about the plane taking off.
"Sir, we have a bird in motion." Hill said "We need to shut it down, take-off is not authorized."
Fury picked up a rocket launcher and headed outside as he saw a jet taking off, Fury fired the rocket launcher at the jet's wheels. The jet slid on the helicarrier and couldn't take off, but there was another jet that had already taken off. Fury headed inside and touched the comms as he connected to the team.
"Stark, Stark you hear me?" Fury said "There's a nuke comin' your way."
"How long?" Tony asked as he blasted more and more Chitauri soldiers
"2 minutes, 3 max." Fury replied
"Got it." Tony said as he focused on " .V.I.S., kick everything into the thrusters."
"I just did." .V.I.S. replied as Tony took off into the skies
"Guys, I can close the portal." Natasha said
"Do it." Steve said into comms
"No, don't." Tony said
"Stark, these things are coming in hot." Steve argued
"So's the nuke comin' in." Tony argued back "I got a minute before it blows. Barry, you there?"
"Yeah, I'm here." Barry replied into comms
"Remember telling me about how you can do a super sonic punch?" Tony said "That's what you're gonna do."
"Alright." Barry said "We can use Stark Tower and the sides of those mini-ships for me to run up that high and the portal would suck in the blast."
"Yeah and you with it." Steve argued
"It's okay, Cap." Barry said into the comms channel "This is the job."
"This isn't your universe, Barry." Thor tried to argue into the comms channel
"It is now." Barry replied as he took off out of New York and onto the water, running so he could build up speed as Tony aimed the nuke towards the portal.
"Now, Barry. Run!" Tony said
With that, Barry turned and ran on the water towards New York. Barry broke the sound barrier as there was a sonic boom, Barry was off the water and in the city. He kept running at super speed as he ran up the side of Stark Tower and onto the sides of the Chitauri. Natasha looked up as she saw Barry running, back in her van, Skye looked as she saw a flying streak of lightning.
Oh god, Barry she thought, knowing something was wrong What are you doing?
Tony pushed the nuke towards the portal as Barry jumped off the last Chitauri mini-ship and flew nearly 100 feet before throwing his right fist, a super sonic punch, to the nuke. The fire from the nuke was sucked into space by the portal, Natasha penetrated the machine with the Scepter. Barry closed his eyes as the world around him darkened and he fell to a heightened fall.
