Usual disclaimer- English is not my first language and my understanding of grammar will never be perfect. If there are any mistakes or better phasing of ideas, please drop me a note. And finally, please drop a review. I know reviews are not in vogue right now so it is nice to know someone is reading these snippets.

Savior-s

'Ne,' Nami voiced out as she sprawled on the bed she shared with the archaeologist, eyes on the swinging lamp that hung at the ceiling, 'What made you change your mind?'

Robin turned her sharp eyes on the copper hair girl. Nami's question was out of the blue. Both were ready to turn in for the night, gingerly finding a new routine in the new Sunny Go as she sailed away from the Seven Water.

The armchair bought at the thrift store was comfortable, had been lovingly restored by the new shipwright and the room was filled with a cosy light from the lamp that Nami got at the same store. The bed was covered by freshly linen and she could see the young navigator was dressed for her date with Mr. Sandman.

"What changed your mind to let us save you," Nami rolled over on her stomach, head tilted on her palm as she studied her roommate. "I heard from Usopp that he had tried his hardest to convince you otherwise."

Robin paused and considered the navigator's question. "Why do you ask." She queried instead.

Nami sat up, her face suddenly unexceptionally serious. "I want to know," she said, "Something must have happened for you to change your mind. Someone said something. Or someone did something."

Robin hesitated and looked down at her hands as she carefully considered her roommate's question. The skin at her wrist was still discolored where the kaiseki stone once shackled.

At Robin's silence, Nami reluctantly backed down, not wanting to push for an answer if her friend felt uncomfortable. Though slightly hurt at her friend's reticence, Nami offered her own experience, "I, er, too, kinda, ran away from the crew once as well. So, you are not the only one."

Intrigued, Robin looked up from her quiet contemplation, while Nami looked away shyly, as she shifted her position to stretch her legs in front and wiggled her toes. She elaborated with a small sheepish smile, "Stole Merry at the same time as well."

"Someone said something," Robin said softly, deducting where the original question had come from.

Nami picked up the pillow from the head of the bed to place on her lap as she sighed reluctantly, after all she was the person who asked this sensitive question, "You know, I have stolen, conned and scammed; According to Arlong, I am someone who will kill my family for a pretty penny. I became someone my mother would be ashamed of and I was beyond saving. But, for me, that was okay, as long as I can save my village." her fingers picked on non-existent lint from the pillow case. Her frown deepened as she thought back. It was not a particular happy memory.

"He didn't agree. He didn't say it, but just acted. He really did call my bluff," She said quietly, then as if realizing the first time, almost in awe, "He gambled his life just to say I am a liar. That what that fishman said was a lie. That I am not cold hearted. That I wouldn't be able to give up my family. That I wouldn't be able to kill a person."

Suddenly she thumped the pillow on her lap brutally, "arghhh! Thinking about it again makes me sooo angry," she muttered, ears getting red as she remembered how her carefully cultivated plan fell apart like a deck of cards.

Robin looked amused at the flustered girl as her mood swung from contemplative to annoyance in a span of seconds. Only two boys on this ship could rile her up. She wondered if he was the person she was thinking.

Then Nami continued once she calmed down, "I didn't change my mind even when Luffy came barreling into my village. Well, in hindsight, I should have known better. They came waltzing in to mess up my plans of keeping them safe. And everything just snowballed out of my control. I was furious at Luffy, oh so angry at him. So desperate for them to leave." She swallowed hard. "And it just slipped out...Luffy obviously loudly agreed. Just like what he said to you," she smiled fondly. "And I couldn't believe I would see them standing behind with faith in me despite all that I have done, that I was worth saving."

The orange-hair girl shrugged, "long story short, I was saved, not only physically, because they were just so stubborn,' Nami laughed softly and slightly embarrassed by her emotion. She felt the prickly sensation at her eyes and quickly wiped the moisture with the palm of her hand.

Robin looked contemplatively at the girl and said quietly, so quiet the Nami had to strain her ears, "he said it was not a sin to be alive;" she smiled heartbreakingly at the orange hair girl. "So thank you for not giving me up."

A rather short one just to say why I think Nami would fall for that oaf.

As usual, please review!
