They took the stairs down to Autopsy, and the cheesy grins on the faces of the twins said it all.

"This sleepover is going to be the best!" Abby screamed as she hugged them both.

Present

A Week Later

Gibbs pulled up to Jenny's house, and he and Lottie got out. He pressed the doorbell, and Jenny opened the door.

"Hi," she said.

"Hey," Gibbs responded.

"Um, Connie's just coming. She mentioned something about not getting something in her bag."

Lottie sighed.

"I'll go up and help her."

She ran up the stairs to her sister's room, leaving her parents to talk.

"What's she trying to get in her bag?" Gibbs asked his ex wife with a small grin.

"Probably DVDs. They're having a Tinkerbell marathon because Ziva hasn't seen them."

The Marine looked at her in shock.

"She's been here a year and Tony and Lottie haven't forced her to watch it yet? That's unbelievable."

Jenny snorted.

"That's what Connie said when I asked why she was rummaging through the DVD cupboard."

Gibbs stifled a laugh.

"Would you like to come over for dinner tonight? It'll be weird not having Lottie there and I have a feeling it'll be the same not having Connie."

Her heart skipped a beat.

"I'd like that."

"Great. I'll see you then," he replied just as their daughters came down the stairs.

Lottie

Lottie's eyes darted between her parents, trying not to get her hopes up as they greeted one another.

"Um, Connie's just coming. She mentioned something about not getting something in her bag," her Mom said and Lottie sighed.

"I'll go up and help her."

She ran quickly up the stairs, to where her twin was sitting on her floor casually.

"You okay?" Lottie asked.

"Yeah, fine."

"Why are you on the floor then?"

"Making Mom and Dad have a conversation."

Lottie smiled.

"You genius."

"Thank you."

"Should we go downstairs and release them from their misery?" The younger redhead questioned with a grin after a while.

"I guess we should," the older redhead responded.

Connie pulled on her bag and she and Lottie went downstairs.

"Hi," Connie said.

"Hey," her father responded. "You ready to go?"

"Yup."

"Have fun," Jenny told her daughters, kissing them both on the forehead. "I love you both."

"We love you too," the twins chorused as they walked out the door and into the car.

"I'll see you tonight," Gibbs said to his ex wife.

"See you tonight."

He walked out of the house, a bounce in his step. He got into the car, and they drove to Tony's.

"See you guys tomorrow. I love you."

"So do we," they answered.

The twins hugged their father, and then walked into Tony's house, while their father went home to prepare for Jenny coming.

NCIS

"So, what should we do first?" Abby asked.

"Well," Jimmy suggested. "We could watch the first Tinkerbell film, we could eat, or we could play a video game."

"Personally I think we should start on Tinkerbell. Better now than later," Lottie said and everyone else nodded in agreement.

They all took off their shoes, put their bags down on the floor and everyone apart from Tony sat down on the sofa. Connie handed him the DVDs, and he put the first one in and the other ones on the floor. He got up, and sat beside Ziva on the two seater sofa.

Just over an hour later

"Wow," Ziva said. "That was really good."

"It really is, and they get better as you go on," Connie answered.

"What is this whole thing with Clarion and the Lord of Winter? Lottie has mentioned it a few times."

"We'll be on that in two films."

Jenny

"What on earth am I supposed to wear?" Jenny asked herself anxiously.

After spending a good few minutes of looking through her wardrobe, she eventually picked out a dark green turtleneck jumper and dark wash jeans. She put on a pair of sneakers, tied her hair into a ponytail, grabbed her keys and drove straight to Gibbs's house. She stopped outside, and hesitated. Taking a deep breath, she got out of the car and went in.

"Jethro? Jethro?"

"Down in the basement, Jen!"

She went down to the basement, where her ex husband was sanding his boat. She stared at his rippling back muscles as he sanded the boat, and then he turned around.

"See something you like?"

"No," she answered quickly, and he smirked.

"Take a seat," he gestured to the seat on the left in front of the worktop at the side of the room. "You want some bourbon?"

"Yes please," she sat down on the chair.

He handed her a mason jar of bourbon, and she took a sip as he sat down on the other one.

"So, how have you been the past fifteen years?"

"Jethro, you asked me that a week ago."

"You never answered properly."

She looked down at her glass, tapping the side of it with her manicured nails.

"I've been okay. Working hard, spending time with Connie. We lived in London until she was ten, and then we moved to LA."

"Did you tell anyone you were back?"

"Just Dwayne, Ducky and Tom."

"Why did you not tell me?"

"Because I don't answer to you anymore."

"You're lying."

Her eyes flashed.

"I'm not," she insisted.

"When you lie, your right eye twitches. Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because I messed up, okay?!" She snapped, tears in her eyes. "I left you. You pushed me away, and I let you. I should've been there. I shouldn't have given up on our marriage. I messed up, big time, and I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry."

A tear rolled down her cheek, and he wiped it with the back of his hand.

"It's okay, Jen, it's okay."

He wrapped his arms around her, and she did the same, inhaling his scent of coffee, bourbon and sawdust.

"Does this mean we're dating now?" She asked him once they had pulled back.

"If you want to."

"But how? We can't go back to what we were. We have two teenage daughters, Jethro. It isn't just us anymore.

"We take it slow, Jen, if that's what you want, but one thing's for sure, I don't want to be with anyone else."

She caught his eyes and smiled.

"Me neither."

He brought her hand to his lips and kissed it, just like he had done so many years ago when they were in Paris.

With the twins

"It's pizza time!" Tony called. "Everyone pick one from the menu and we'll flip a coin to see if McGoo or I have to call it in."

Everyone piled round the counter top, grabbing menus and having a look. It took about ten minutes, but they all finally decided on pizzas.

"Heads or tails, McGoo?" Tony asked McGee.

"Tails."

Tony threw the coin in the air and caught it.

"Heads," he sighed as he looked at it. "I'm calling it in. That means you get it next time."

"That's cool," the computer scientist shrugged.

Tony called the number for the pizza delivery service, and everyone else went through to the lounge. Lottie pressed play on the second Tinkerbell film, with Tony coming through to watch it, and then forty five minutes later, the doorbell went.

"Pizza's here!" The twins and Tony screamed as they bolted to the door.

They took the pizza from the delivery guy, paid him, and the seven of them went through to the kitchen and began to eat.

"I wonder how Mom and Dad are doing without us," Connie wondered.

"If we're lucky he asked her over for dinner," Lottie joked.

"Lottie, what if he did?" The older redhead asked sincerely.

Lottie shook her head.

"I doubt it."

"Why?"

"They're too stubborn to admit their feelings for one another."

Connie nodded as she took a mouthful of her pizza.

With Jenny and Gibbs

"That'll be the steaks," Gibbs said as a ringing sounded.

He went up the stairs, with Jenny following. He got the steaks off the fire while Jenny got the chips out of the oven. They put them into two plates, and sat down at the table.

"Jen?" The Marine asked and she looked up at him. "When are we going to tell the kids?"

"Not until we're certain it'll work. I don't want either of them to get their hopes up, especially Lottie. Her anxiety will be through the roof."

"I agree, but I didn't just mean the twins."

Jenny realized immediately.

"Ah, you meant your team too. My previous statement still applies. We shouldn't tell them until it gets absolutely serious."

"Okay," he responded. "What about Ducky?"

"What about him?"

"He'll find out, one way or another."

"I agree. We're going to have to tell him, and make him promise not to tell the others."

"That man is a vault when it comes to secrets," Gibbs said and Jenny smiled.

"He really is."

"You know, when you left, I was angry at you. For leaving me. For separating our daughters."

"I'm so sorry."

"I know you are. But after a while I got angry at myself. I pushed you away–" she cut him off.

"But I let you!"

"I should've let you in. It would've saved us a lot of problems. We might still be together, and our daughters wouldn't have been separated for the past fifteen years. I still love you, Jenny. I have done since the day you left."

Tears glistened in her eyes.

"I love you too."

They smiled as they tucked into their steaks, the two of them feeling happier than they had an hour ago.

With the twins

Connie and Lottie sat on the sofa watching Tinkerbell with the others, Connie's head on her sister's shoulder and Lottie's head on top of Connie's as Clarion and Milori told the story that the twins had heard so many times, and then Tony paused the film.

"DUDE!" The twins shouted. "We were watching that!"

"I know, but I had a theory," Tony told them.

"Let's hear it," Connie answered, slightly calmer.

"Those two remind me of Jenny and Gibbs. They clearly have feelings for one another but refuse to act on them, plus Milori looks like Gibbs and Clarion looks a little like Jenny."

"You are actually correct about that, Tony," Ziva told him thoughtfully.

He smiled and the other five all shared irritated glances.

"We should make them watch this film and see if it gets them together faster!" Abby said.

"That's actually not a bad idea, Abby," Jimmy told her and everyone else nodded.

"When should we do it?" Lottie asked.

"Let's discuss the plan later, we have a film series to finish," McGee reminded the people who were like siblings to him.

Tony pressed play, and they started watching the movie again.

Over 3 hours later

"I'll grab the sheets with the others," Connie whispered to her sister who was falling asleep on the sofa.

Lottie nodded. The older twin and the other "kids" grabbed a few duvets, and all put them on separate sofas or the mattress on the floor. Connie put a blanket over her twin and tucked a strand of her curly red hair behind her ear. She kissed Lottie's temple gently before lying down on one of the floor mattresses beside Abby and fell straight asleep.

With Jenny and Gibbs

"I'm going to go home now," she told him and his eyes grew a little sad.

"Okay."

She put her hand on his neck and looked deep into his eyes like she'd done so many times before.

"I love you," she whispered as a tear rolled down her cheek. "And I'm so so sorry."

"I love you too, and don't be sorry. We have a second chance now, Jen, and I know for a fact that we're both going to try as hard as we can to make this work. Okay?"

She nodded with a sniff. They hugged for a long time, and then she put on her shoes and made to walk out the door when she stopped abruptly.

"Jethro?" She asked.

"Yeah?"

"Do you want to get the twins tomorrow or should I?"

"I can do it," he assured her.

"Great." She smiled at him and then left the house.

He went over to the sofa and sat down, more relieved than he had been in a long time.
