"Jane?" Korsaks voice sounded triumphant. The brunette who was just getting ready to drive to the precinct shoved the phone between her ear and her shoulders as she closed the button to her pants.

"What is it?" she asked. "You were right! The body is definitely not Garett Fairfield. I couldn't sleep after your call and came to the office early. I waited for Cavanaugh, then we had another ME do another identification. Its hell here now. Pike is getting fired. Fairfield is alive. Maura's motive is gone!" he cheered.

"Do we know who the dead person in the harbor is? She asked and heard Korsak flip through his notebook before replying: "His name is Jonathan Quilt. He has shared a cell with Fairfield for a short while."

Jane nodded to herself. "Do you know when they are letting her go?" Jane questioned with the widest smile on her face.

"Uhm, I'm sure that she would be happy if you were at the precinct in 30."

"Korsak, do you think you could spare me for the noon?" Jane had an idea. "There's something I need to tell her…"

"Ha! Sure. Go and get your girl Jane!" he chuckled before hanging up. Jane was speechless. How did Korsak know? How did anyone else now except for themselves? Who cares she thought as she threw on an oxford shirt and a jacket, hurrying to the precinct. Time was running out on her with heavy traffic, so she ended up parking in second line.

When she walked into the entrance hall of the precinct, she saw the elevator doors slide open and Pike being escorted out by two officers. Oh, how she wished Maura could see it she thought with a smirk of amusement.

It was then when the doors opened behind her and another person who was escorted by two officers entered the hall. Jane turned to see Maura who shot her a questioning look when seeing the drama. Jane shrugged. Their eyes lingered on each other, searching, studying.

Janes legs started walking towards the blonde who opened her arms. By the time she had reached them her mind was ready, her heart too. Ignoring the open arms, she cupped the blondes face with her hands and caught the soft lips into a kiss.

Maura totally surprised kissed her back after a few seconds and the officers around began to cheer which made them smile against each other's lips. Jane rolled her eyes playfully at the Kiss! Kiss! chanting and glanced at Maura who nodded. That was all she needed to kiss her again. They broke it off though because they had to chuckle.

Jane felt arms wrapping around her waist and let herself pull into a hug. A sigh escaping her mouth when Maura whispered something into her hear that sounded like thank you. When the blondes mouth found the spot, Jane had described in one of her mails, a shiver ran down her spine.

"Uhm, I thought you might want to stay at my place until your house is fixed." The brunette said later as they walked out to her cruiser holding hands.

"I mean if it's not too.."

"It's not. I'd love that." Maura interrupted her, squeezing her hand. "I always wanted to see how Boston girl lives." Jane hitched a breath and then grinned.

They laughed as Jane drove off. "Did you know that I knew that it was you?" she asked after a while.

"I was never sure. But somehow, I was pretty sure. Did you?"

"I wasn't sure either. I was sure that it was you, but not… I mean you broke off one of the conversations so abruptly that …" she stopped when Maura's hand came to rest on her thigh. And Jane knew that they needed no more words. She would bring Maura home and then drive back to the precinct. And then she had a whole day to prepare for the night.

R&I

"Are you sure that you have everything you need?" Jane checked one more time. Her eyebrows were furrowed.

"Yes." Maura chuckled. "Food in the fridge, fresh clothes and a bed. I won't need more after seven days in prison."

"Well maybe a shower too." Jane made an act of sniffing which earned her a nudge from Maura. Both laughed.

"Have you ever seen a prison shower?" Maura stated. "It's horrible." It wasn't a complaint nor meant badly. Just a statement. "I have during my undercover operation. It really is horrible."

Jane pulled Maura into a hug and kissed her. "I have to leave now." She said reluctantly when her phone rang. "Yeah, I'm on my way." She mumbled into the device and waved Maura goodbye as she walked out of the door.

R&I

"We have opened the box." Korsak greeted her as she walked in and the brunette glanced at the stuff on the table. Her hands moved swiftly as she silently packed away stuff which wasn't relevant for the case. Maura's private belongings, which she would bring to her later.

The letters mentioned in the email were now scattered on the table. Each in an evidence bag. "Cavanaugh asked where you got it from. But then waved it off saying that he didn't want to know." Frost chuckled while examining one letter by holding it up against the light.

Jane still shivered when she thought about that night in Maura's house. "Yeah, let's just say she gave it to me to protect it." She mumbled.

They worked on the letters, hoping it would help them find Garett. By late afternoon Jane began to feel the lack of sleep from the previous night. She held on to her cup of coffee and glanced at the incoming message to her mail account.

Hey stranger, you will be delighted to hear that I took a shower. You have no idea how wonderful showering in private is. How are you holding up?

The brunette smiled. Stranger eh? We should call it a day soon. Let's just say that I'm glad when I can go home. Especially now that I know what is waiting for me. 😉

You called me babe. *lol* I'm looking forward for you to come home.

Didn't you like it? *lol* Jane knew that Maura hated pet names. Just a little bit of teasing she thought. To her surprise the blonde replied that she loved it.

R&I

"I'm home." Jane yelled unnecessarily loud upon walking into her apartment. Hiding a bottle of Maura's favorite wine and a single red rose behind her back she savored the kiss she got as greeting. There was no shyness or awkward feeling as they took their time to explore the new territory, nor as she pulled both from behind her back.

Maura blushed. "Thank you. This will go perfect with our dinner."

"Dinner?" Jane asked and raised an eyebrow. "You didn't need to cook. We could have ordered take out."

"No, its fine. I wanted to. I made us fish lasagna."

"Oh, that's that weird smell. I was wondering…" she grinned at Maura's smirk. "We haven't even started our relationship and you are already complaining." The blonde teased her back.

Jane laughed as she walked downwards the hall to take a shower and change into fresh clothes. When she came back, she found the dimmed room and two candles were burning on the table while soft music was playing coming from the stereo.

"I thought we could make it a bit special." Maura stated with a soft smile.

"I like that." Jane said softly while glancing at all the work the blonde had gone through.

Once the brunette had cleaned her plate to the last bite she stood and walked around the table. Surprised, Maura glanced at the hand Jane held towards her.

"Would you like to dance with me?" her voice soft, her eyes sparkling. The blonde took the hand and let Jane lead her to the middle of the living room. They moved into each other's arms and began to dance together. For the first time since meeting five years ago they shared more than just occasional touches or secret snuggles in the night. And the reality of it all was greater than every dream, every written word or every fantasy.

"I love you." Jane whispered once the song came to an end. "I love you so much."

"I love you more, Jane." Maura replied with a tender smile.

They kissed, smiled and kissed again. None of them was scared when they walked towards the bedroom. Maura found the spot Jane had described in one of their mails for the second time of the day and the brunette began undressing her. Slowly, taking her time. Then she let Maura pull of her clothes until they stood naked.

Jane pushed her towards the bed and Maura understood that Jane wanted her to lay down. Shaking hands began to explore, leaving tingling sensations on soft and warm skin. And when they came together Jane heard Maura scream her name which left her so overwhelmed that she shed some tears.
