Year X784
Two years later
"Ugh… so hungry." Kera muttered as she let herself fall over the bar. Mira simply smiled at her as she handed her a plate of food. The brunette eyed the plate before a grin spread on her lips and she gleefully accepted it.
Mira chuckled softly as she watched the brunette eat the food. "So how was your mission?"
"Terrible." Kera muttered stuffing a piece of meat in her mouth. "Client was very obnoxious. The bandit problem was easy to take care of, but the mayor's ego took a hit into my reward."
"I'm sorry to hear that." Mira apologized but Kera shook her head. "It's fine. Still made enough to pay rent so everything is good." She stuffed another piece of food into her mouth. "Is Natsu already here?"
"No he hasn't come in yet."
The brunette frowned as she heard that. Usually he would be at the guild hall bright and early. She had hoped that the pink haired Dragon Slayer would be around. Erza was still out and she had no idea what she should do. Sitting around the guild all day would also be too boring. She wondered what he was doing. Did he take a job? Or was he doing something else?
From the back, Gray snorted as he sat at a table with Cana, who was drinking yet again. "You're actually missing that flaming idiot? I'm actually enjoying this peace and quiet."
Kera shrugged from the bar. "It's always fun to watch him fight with you. It's quite entertaining. Also Gray… your clothes…"
The Ice Wizard glanced down and saw that he was indeed just in his boxers. He let out a yelp before scrambling across the floor to gather his clothes. Cana simply rolled her eyes while taking another swing of her drink.
Without Natsu or Erza she could enjoy the day in peace, but she had been alone for the last week, being on that job. She could go with Gray but… she wasn't really in the mood to keep on reminding him to put his clothes on. His stripping habit was really annoying sometimes.
"Don't worry about it. He's probably just sleeping in or something. He did just come back from a job yesterday." Mira told her.
Kera raised an eyebrow at her statement. That could explain why he wasn't here yet. He did know that she was coming back today didn't he? Shaking her head she turned her attention back to Mira. "Anything else happen while I was gone?"
Mira shook her head. "No, not really." She laid her hand against her lip as she started to think. "But there was something I wanted to tell you. Oh well, it probably wasn't anything important."
The brunette gave Mira a questionable look. What was it that she wanted to tell her? Well, if it were important Mira wouldn't have forgotten it. Maybe it was just something silly.
A young blonde shrieked as she threw a pillow into the face of a pink haired boy. Natsu hit the ground, surprised about the power behind the pillow. It was like she threw a book at him. "Ow… Lucy! That hurt!"
Lucy grit her teeth as she glared at him. "Then what are you doing in my apartment!?" She shouted. She had just gone into the kitchen and when she came back, he was suddenly sitting in the middle of the room!
A blue cat flew up beside the girl, giving Natsu a worried glance. "I don't think that was necessary Lucy. You could have killed him!"
"Shut it cat! What are you two doing here!?"
Natsu rubbed his face as he glanced at Lucy. "We wanted to pick you up so we can go to the guild!"
"Couldn't we just have met at the guild!?"
The Dragon Slayer grinned again. "Well, there's someone I want you to meet! It wouldn't be fun if you just popped in there all by yourself."
Lucy blinked in confusion. "Someone from the guild?"
"Yup!" Natsu nodded jumping up. "Now come on! Let's go!" He was already out the door before she could even say anything else.
Lucy was really surprised how eager Natsu was. He must really want her to meet this person. Which was really curious. Their last interaction at the guild had Natsu fighting almost everyone there. So was this just another person he was going to fight or something else?
Sighing she grabbed her stuff and quickly ran after the pink haired Dragon Slayer. He had been standing outside of her apartment, but when he saw her, he ran off towards the guild.
As Lucy followed him, she started to think about this person Natsu wanted her to meet. After their job with Duke Everlue, Gray had found them saying something about a person named Erza coming back. Was that the person she was going to meet?
No that couldn't be. Both boys looked so frightened of this Erza, it didn't fit with how Natsu was acting right now. So who was this mysterious person he wanted her to meet? Well, only one way to find out.
It didn't take them long to reach the guild hall and Natsu was almost dragging her inside. He was almost ripping her arm off as they entered. The pink haired boy including the blue flying cat ran inside, waving to someone. Lucy followed his path and noticed a girl sitting by the bar, eating. She definitely hadn't been here when she joined. The girl had long brown hair that was tied into a pony tail and fell down her right shoulder. She wore a simple black jacket over what seemed to be a red shirt and some jeans.
Who was she?
"Hey Kera!"
The brunette turned around and saw Natsu waving at her, but there was someone else with him, someone she didn't recognize. It was a girl with long blonde hair. She was wearing a red shirt with a skirt where there was a set of keys hanging from her belt.
Natsu grinned as he stopped in front of her with the girl beside her. "I want to introduce you to Luigi here!"
"It's Lucy!" The girl snapped at him.
Kera blinked as she looked at the girl before turning back to Natsu. "You kidnapped someone?"
The Dragon Slayer gaped. "What!? No! I swear! She wanted to come here! Go on, tell her Luigi!"
The blonde groaned slightly as she rubbed her temple. Why was he always getting her name wrong on purpose? She noticed that Kera was staring at her and she grew a bit nervous. She scratched the back of her head. "S-Sorry! My name is Lucy. I asked Natsu if I could join Fairy Tail and he brought me here." She showed her the emblem on her hand.
Kera's eyes went wide, realizing that this was probably the thing Mira wanted to tell her. They received a new member! "Oh! Well in that case welcome to the guild!" Kera grinned while holding out her hand. "I'm Kera by the way. Sorry about that, I was probably gone when Natsu brought you here." Lucy chuckled softly, feeling a bit more relaxed now that the awkward tension was gone.
Natsu suddenly slung his arm around her shoulder. "So how was the mission? You were gone for a while!"
The brunette snorted slightly before turning back to her food. "You mean that jerk of a mayor who cut my pay in half? Yea, it went great." She muttered before poking at her food again.
"Now Kera, be nice." A voice spoke from the bar. Mirajane appeared with that sweet smile on her face. "Or do I have to mention last weeks incident?"
Kera paled slightly before lowering her head. "I'll behave…"
Natsu grinned. "But I bet you had a lot of fun beating those bandits, right?" He gave Lucy a short glance. "In fact, you and Lucy would make an awesome team!"
The blonde gaped at that suggestion. "H-Hey! Don't sell me off like that! You'll make me look like I'm way stronger than I am!"
Kera blinked slightly as she heard this. She completely turned around on the seat so she could look at Lucy. "Hey, don't sell yourself short. If Natsu brought you here then he saw something in you. Also I'm not that strong myself."
Natsu suddenly tackled the girl from behind, grabbing her arms. "Hey! Practice what you preach!"
The brunette rolled her eyes. Of course he would remind her. She struggled out of his grip, pushing him off of her. She appreciated the thought, but she really didn't want to get into that right now. So to change the topic she reminded him of the rumor he had heard. "So what was with that rumor? Was it Igneel?"
Natsu sighed while shaking his head. "Nah… just some guy calling himself Salamander and impersonating himself as a Fairy Tail member. But at least I found Lucy there!"
Kera had to smile seeing Natsu's grin. She knew it was a long shot that rumor to be true, but at least Natsu was taking it well. Honestly, she had hoped that it was true, that way she could have asked Igneel if he knew anything about her own dragon. She hated that she couldn't remember anything about her.
"Hey! I have a great idea! You, me and Lucy should form a team!" Natsu stated with his hands on his hips. Happy, who had sat down by the bar, started eating a fish. "Don't forget me!"
A snort from the side was heard. "Yea right. If I were you Lucy, I wouldn't hang around an idiot like Natsu." Gray sat at one of the tables, wearing nothing but his boxers. "You'll get enough offers from other teams."
"Gray… your clothes." Kera sighed while shaking her head.
The Ice Wizard looked down at himself, letting out a shocked yelp before running off to find his clothes.
Lucy watched Gray run around the guild hall. "Does… he do that often?"
"Unfortunately…" Kera muttered.
Natsu let out a snort. "Idiot runs around the guild hall always naked."
"You want a piece of me!?" Gray shouted as he appeared in front of Natsu, his forehead leaning against his. Natsu gritted his teeth as he tried to push back. "Yea, I'm talking to you pervert."
"Shut it you flamebrain."
"Ice Princess."
"Meathead."
"Ice breath!"
Lucy watched the two boys bicker and fight, throwing insults at each other. "Should we stop them?" She asked turning her head to Kera, but the brunette was back sitting at the bar, eating her plate while Happy sat next to her. How could she just ignore it? Weren't they going to kill each other? "Aren't we going to step in?"
"Nope." Kera stated simply while stuffing her mouth with food. Happy simply chuckled as he ate his fish. "Hey Kera, do you want a piece of my fish?"
"Nah, I'm good. Keep it for yourself." The brunette smiled at the blue cat. Lucy was shocked. Happy was offering his fish to Kera? Okay who was this person that earned Happy's trust so easily?
Lucy yelped as Natsu was thrown against her and the two crashed to the ground. The blonde groaned out in pain. Why did the world hate her so much?
Gray laughed as he held his arm. "See? You'd be better off on a different team than that flamebrain."
"Why you little..." Natsu growled as he got back up on his feet. Lucy on the other hand crawled back to the bar, hoping to get as far away from those two as possible.
As she sat up on the bar, she noticed Mira handing Kera a piece of paper. "Looks like another job for you Kera."
The brunette groaned as she leaned over the bar. "Ugh… again? I just got back!" She whined, her head leaning down.
"Oh a job!" Natsu appeared beside them. "I'll take it!"
Mirajane shook her head as she took the request away from him. "Sorry Natsu, you can't go on this one. It's S-Class only."
Lucy blinked. "Wait, why can't Natsu go?" What does this S-Class thing mean?
The white haired woman smiled. "It means that only S-Class wizards are allowed to go on it. They're too dangerous for normal wizards to go on."
"So wait." Lucy turned towards the brunette who was still lying over the bar. If Mirajane was giving this job to her, then that meant… this girl… that was sitting next to her… "Y-You're S-Class!?"
Kera gave her a bored look as she pushed herself up. Natsu slung his arm around her shoulder, a huge grin on his face. "Yup! Kera is an S-Class wizard!" He chuckled. "She's a real bad ass! She even took down a Wyvern all on her own!"
"Natsu…" Kera started.
Lucy couldn't believe she was sitting next to someone so powerful! An S-Class wizard! And she never even heard of her before! She read all the Sorcerer Weekly's, she knew most of their members just by their names, but this girl was never in one of them. Just who was she!?
The doors of the guild hall were smashed open, Loke standing at the front, a panicked look on his face. "Bad news! Erza's back!"
In a mere second the entire guild hall burst into chaos. People were running around shouting and even… crying? Lucy couldn't believe what she was seeing. Was this Erza really that scary?
Lucy heard a snap to her side. She saw Kera with a now broken spoon in her hand and a look of terror on her face.
She was scared as well!?
Natsu grabbed Kera by her collar and started shaking her as hard as he could. A look of terror was seen on his face as well. "You have to save us Kera!"
The brunette pushed away Natsu, turning her attention towards Mira, ignoring the Fire Dragon Slayer. "I thought she was gone for a month!"
"Guess she came back early." Mira smiled sweetly. She was probably the only person in the guild who wasn't freaking out.
Kera started to sweat as her ears caught the familiar sound of footsteps. She was already close. "Dear God…" She whispered knowing that this will turn into chaos. And there was no way out.
This time Gray appeared and grabbed the brunette. "Come on Kera! You have to save us!"
The girl grit her teeth as she snapped at the Ice Wizard. "Me!? Saving you!? Are you nuts! If anything I'm saving myself!"
"You traitor!" Both Natsu and Gray shouted at the same time. How could she just simply leave them to this cruel fate?
The entire guild went silent as Lucy could hear footsteps coming closer. From the doors, a person emerged holding a giant horn on their shoulder. It was a young girl, probably around Lucy's age with scarlet red hair. She wore armor over her chest while a simple skirt underneath and a pair of black boots.
"Whoa, she's pretty." Lucy whispered. Was this really the person everyone was so afraid of? She didn't seem like a bad person at all!
The red head's eyes roamed the guild hall, noticing everyone was staring at her. She sighed shaking her head slightly. Mira walked up to her with a smile on her face. "Welcome back Erza! Looks like your job went easy enough."
"It was." Erza replied shortly, setting down the horn she was carrying. "Is the Master here? I need to speak with him."
"Unfortunately he's not here at the moment. He's at a meeting with the other guild masters." Mirajane explained.
Erza frowned. That was unfortunate. She could have really used his advice, but there was nothing she could do about it now. She would just figure out a different way to solve it. Perhaps… Her eyes roamed the guild hall… where was she?
"H-Hey Erza!"
She saw both Gray and Natsu hugging each other like the greatest pals. She smirked slightly knowing that this was just a ploy. "I see the two of you are getting along."
"O-Of course Erza!"
"Aye!"
Lucy blinked. "Did Natsu turn into Happy!?"
"Has either one of you seen Kera?" Erza asked as she gave the two boys a raised eyebrow. "If I remember correctly she was supposed to be finished with her job as well."
There was a knock against the bar causing Erza to turn towards it. Happy was sitting on the bar with a fish in his mouth. The red head walked up to him causing Happy to pale. "I didn't do anything!" He shouted before flying away. Lucy blinked, wait… wasn't Kera there just a second ago?
Rolling her eyes, Erza reached over the counter and pulled up a certain brunette. Kera yelped as Erza was now holding her by the back of her shirt. "Oh h-hey Erza…"
"Was there a reason why you're hiding?" Erza asked raising an eyebrow at her.
"...no?"
A loud crash was heard as Kera was knocked to the ground by Erza. Lucy freaked out slightly. From what she had just heard, Kera was supposed to be an S-Class wizard and this person easily knocked her out! How strong was this chick? No wonder everyone was so scared of her.
"Listen up." Erza stated, giving both Natsu and Gray a short glance, while Kera was still lying on the ground dazed. "On my way back here I overhead something peculiar. Normally I would discuss this with Master but since he's not around, I could use your help."
Kera blinked as she regained her composure, leaning her head against her hands while still lying on the ground. "You need all our help? Must be something serious then…"
"I can't believe I have to work with you." Natsu growled as he butted heads with Gray. The Ice Wizard snorted as he pushed back. "Yea well, this wasn't exactly my idea here pal. And just for your information, I'm here only because Erza asked, got it?"
Lucy sighed as she sat on a bench to the side. She was watching the two boys fight it out for about twenty minutes now. They weren't showing any signs of letting go either. "Why am I here again?" She asked aloud. Erza hadn't asked for her help so what was she doing here?
"Because Mira was afraid those two would kill each other behind Erza's back." Happy sat beside Lucy with yet another fish in his mouth.
Lucy gave the cat a confused look. "How am I supposed to stop them!?"
Shuffling was heard and Lucy turned her head to see Kera standing in front of her with a bag slung over her shoulder. The brunette smiled softly. "Your name was Lucy right?"
Even though Natsu had kept on calling her name wrong, it seemed Kera had remembered it correctly. Honestly, looking at her, she might be the most sanest person she has met in Fairy Tail yet. She was actually surprised to see how crazy this guild was, but so far, Kera seemed to be sort of normal.
Lucy nodded her head while giving her a smile as well. "That's me! Celestial Wizard at your service!"
"Oh neat! I've never met a Celestial Wizard before!" Kera grinned at her, causing the blonde to remember the grin Natsu always gave her. It seemed so similar. That same aloofness as well the care free attitude. But for some reason, Lucy couldn't explain it, but it almost seemed there was something else hidden behind that smile. "Natsu told me a lot about you!"
Lucy flinched. "I have no idea if that's good or bad." Who knows what Natsu told her. He was just casually making things up as he went.
Kera chuckled as she rearranged her grip on her bag. "Don't worry. He's just been talking about how great and strong you are. Said you bested a horde of Vulcans all on your own."
"That may be a bit exaggerated…"
The brunette rubbed her chin. "But I have to say, Natsu's been so full of energy and he really couldn't stop talking about you. Even told me about your job with that weird Duke guy." She shook her head when she saw Lucy's nervous look. "There's really nothing to be worried about. Natsu's judgment is usually…" She couldn't finish her sentence as Gray was knocked into her and the two crashed to the ground.
Kera growled as she stood up glaring at Natsu, her bag falling from her shoulder, ignoring the Ice wizard beside her. "That's it you flaming idiot!" Natsu flinched at the sudden burst of anger. "I'm going to kick your aaa-oooww!" she yelped as a cold armored hand pulled at her ear.
Erza glared at the brunette, pulling harder against her ear. "Are you causing trouble again Kera?"
The girl yelped again as Erza pulled again. "N-No! Natsu threw Gray at me! I was only defending myself!"
"Is that so…" Erza's glare turned towards the two boys causing them to freeze up. Behind Erza, Kera gave them an evil smirk while sticking out her tongue at them.
Lucy sighed. Maybe she was wrong about her being normal…
Why would there be a normal person in Fairy Tail?
After Gray and Natsu were beaten by Erza, lying on the ground in a bloody mess, the red head turned towards the girls. Noticing the blonde standing beside Kera she smiled. "Mira told me we had a new member in the guild. You must be her, Lucy correct?"
"Y-Yea." Lucy nodded her head, slightly nervous after seeing her beat both guys and yet Kera seemed to not care at all!
Erza smiled. "Well it's great to have you join us. The more the merrier, right Kera?"
The brunette nodded her head. "Yea, she'll fit right in! I can already see her getting into trouble like the rest of us!"
Lucy faltered. "Um… I'm not so sure about that."
"Well, if everyone is here then we should head out, before the train leaves." Erza had started to grab her things so they could leave.
"Hold up Erza." Natsu had pulled himself back up from the beating and took a step towards the red head. "I'm only coming on one condition." Everyone gave the Dragon Slayer a confused look. Kera wondered what he wanted out of Erza this time…
Natsu smirked. "I want a rematch when we get back!"
Kera groaned while Gray shook his head. "You idiot! She's going to crush you like last time!" The Ice Wizard did try to warn him, but it seems that Natsu didn't care.
Instead, he laughed. "Not this time! Kera and I have been practicing a lot lately! This time I won't lose! Right Kera?"
Kera stepped back while raising her hands in defense. "Don't drag me into this mess of yours!"
Erza chuckled, crossing her arms over her chest. "Very well then. When we finish our mission we can have your rematch."
The brunette sighed as she shook her head. "Great, he's going to get crushed. That idiot never learns."
