Chapter 10: Saving a Maiden

I wake up.

Today I'm not going to the Dungeon. I'm going to fix up another room. That way, we'll be able to hold five familia members here, so that's one more person if I include Lili.

I walk into Hestia's bedroom watch Hestia wake up.

"Do we have any savings I can use to buy stuff to fix up a room?" I ask

"Umm… I don't think so…" Hestia says "If you want, Bell will probably pay,"

"Uh… it's fine, I'll just use my own money." I say

I walk out of the room before going out of the main living area. Time to explore the rest of the church.

I step over hole in the ground and go to the set of rooms that are right next to our own.

It's a single bedroom.

It isn't actually in terrible shape. I mean, it is in really bad shape, just, it's not in terrible shape compared to the rest of the Church.

By that, I mean there aren't any holes in the floor. The room is a total mess though, with a broken bed and a broken nightstand in the room. I check in the closet to find that there's nothing-not even a place to hang clothes- in there. I look at the wardrobe.

One of the drawers is missing, and another is unhinged and barely hanging on it.

I take it off before it can fall. That could've made a hole in the floor.

Time to start cleaning out this place…

I start by taking everything out of the room and leaving it outside.

I'll need one king sized bed, a wardrobe, a small table, some bed sheets, a blanket, some hangers, and a pole.

I walk out and start trying to find my way to a workshop.

I walk through one of the many Back Alleys of Orario's Daedalus Street. Maybe there's a workshop here?

I hear a scream of "Nooo! Don't! Leave me alone!"

It's a girl's scream.

I run towards the noise.

I find a girl, being cornered by two guys. They have lustful eyes and a hard-on.

Her face comes out of the shadows.

I think I'm in love… or I have a crush, at the very least.

"Would you like me to walk you home?" I offer

Her ears droop "I-I'm an orphan… and homeless…" she says

Her ears perk up "Sure!" she says innocently

"Come with me," I tell her

She follows me as I begin to walk back to the broken church.

Soon it comes into view.

"This is home, for now. It isn't much, but it's homey, at least." I say

"It's fine," Emma says

Hestia walks out to see Emma hiding behind me. It seems she's shy…

"Who's this, Tadao?" Hestia asks

"Thank you Goddess Hestia," I say

Hestia motions with her hands before whispering in her ear. Probably about not going after Bell…

I clear my throat to get their attention. "Uh, Emma? Do you know where any workshops are?" I ask

"Umm… one should be near Ganesha's familia home…" Emma tells me

I nod before starting to head over.

I can hear Emma and Hestia talking as I leave

It's late afternoon by the time I get back with all the materials needed, and 2,000 Valis short. Would've been an extra almost two hundred Valis if I didn't try to bargain.

Damn. Those mattresses are so expensive…

I enter the broken Church and walk into the room I'm fixing up. This'll be Emma's (And Hopefully My) room.

I place the Bed that I was using to carry everything on the ground. Then I take the wardrobe off and place it to the side. I take the small table off next and put it beside the bed.

Then I take the poles and push them in the holes in the closet. I stick all the hangers on said holes before putting the pillow and blankets on the mini table and put the bedsheets on.

I put the Pillow and Blankets back on the bed.

I am so glad the falna basically gives me super-strength…

I walk out the room, then walk into the main living room.

Everyone is eating dinner when I get back.

"So Tadao~" Hestia starts "We've decided that you and Emma are sleeping in the room you just fixed up, and me and Bell are taking the bedroom here."

Bell gives a shocked expression. I don't think they let him put any input on where everyone is sleeping.

I blush. I'm sleeping with a girl… nonetheless, a girl that I have a crush on.

"Eh?" I say, shocked

"I'll just sleep on the couch, Goddess!" Bell says

"No Bell, you're sleeping with me!" Hestia yells "No one is sleeping on the couch!"

Emma's blushing a little too.

"No! As Goddess, my rule is final!" Hestia says

Did Emma and Hestia plot against me and Bell or something?

I sit down and start eating to try to get rid of my embarrassment.

I finish eating only a little after everyone else.

It's time for bed, so everyone's already left.

"It's not like I don't think you're hot enough or anything!" I say, blushing

I move to one side of the bed, the one with the mini table, now nightstand on it. I take off my Glasses and put them on the table.

"Uh, g-goodnight…" I stutter towards Emma

"Goodnight…" Emma yawns

I can't sleep with a girl I have a crush on right next to me, at least, not easily!

I wait. Can't sleep.

I continue to wait. I still can't sleep.
