Chapter 11:
Dylan's POV:
"Are you sure she's really dead?" Liam asked.
"It's what I dreamt about so I don't see why not," I told him.
"If a demigod is powerful enough they can change what you see in your dreams," Liam stated. "And we have known Mya to be a powerful demigod."
I sighed and sat down on the edge of my bed. I rubbed my eyes and stared at the floor of the motel room.
"If she isn't really dead we still need to attack," I told Liam. "Maybe just maybe others saw this dream and they also think Mya is dead."
"Yes, but maybe they also know that dreams can be tampered with," Liam said.
"That doesn't matter!" I said raising my voice. "We need to attack now. In their time of weakness."
"Maybe that is what they are expecting,"
"Liam!" I shouted. "You are not leading our army are you?"
"No," Liam muttered.
"That is what I thought," I said harshly. "Now you will listen to me and we attack immediately!"
"What camp?" Liam asked. "Or shall we march straight to Olympus? Rip each god from their throne right now, starting with the god of the seas."
"No," I said quickly. "We need to attack Rome first. Not just because the prophecy says that New Rome will fall, but also because that camp is the most coordinated and they have the most heroes."
"Smart, but Olympus could be defeated right now!" Liam said raising his voice. He stepped up onto the chair he was sitting on and unsheathed his sword. It was the same sword that he had used while fighting Reyna in the cavern. "The camps would stand no chance if we took down their headquarters! It would be a quick victory!"
"Liam," I warned. "I have made the plan clear and we shall stick to it."
"Understandable," Liam snarled. "I shall tell my father."
"Could you ask him to do something for me?" Liam turned towards me telling me that he was listening. "Could you ask him to search for her? I mean it is his domain and he should know what is in it."
"I can do that," Liam told me. "But I believe you have something to do."
I nodded and remembered what Tartarus had ordered me to do. I never wanted to go back to that place, but the voices told me if I wanted full access to my power I needed to destroy all of my demons. There was only one left to completely destroy.
Mya's POV:
"Λειτουργεί" I whispered. My armor listened and sprang to life to protect me. I snuck up onto a small group of snake women. I could hear their hissing and was surprised that they hadn't smelled or sensed me yet.
"Wait," one of them commanded with a hiss. "Do you smell that?"
"Half-blood," one of them hissed with a laugh.
"Yes," another agreed while lengthening the s at the end.
I flicked my wrist and commanded my trident to appear, and then began to walk towards them. Right away they saw my sea-green trident on the front of my breastplate.
"Seafood," one of them hissed.
"I'd love to stay for that!" I said happily before changing my tone. "But pretty sure it would label me a cannibal if I ate fish."
The snake ladies blinked hard in confusion.
"Because I'm a- you know what never mind," I told them. I ran to attack them but they were quick. I was able to quickly slash down one of them but two remained and they stood on either side of me. If I turned my back on one the other would attack. Then an idea came to me. I bowed a little pointing the spikes of my trident down towards the ground. "Good job! You got me! The only monsters that could outsmart me!"
"Yes," they hissed in delight. "Put down your weapon and allow us to come closer."
I nodded telling them I understood, but I didn't put down my trident just yet.
"Did you not hear me," one snake woman hissed. "Put it down!"
"You want me to put it down?" they both nodded. "Fine, your call."
I slammed my trident into the ground and called forth the River Styx. I knew it was the closest river to me and would drain the least amount of energy to call. Again I made sure to form it away from me just in case.
"Stop!" the monsters hissed in fear.
"No!" I snapped. "Where is the River Styx!"
"We will never tell you!" they screamed as the water began to close in closer to them. "You shall die a painful death, sea spawn! Our master will hear our cries for help and he shall find you!"
I cursed in Ancient Greek. I should have just killed them quickly. Because of course, they would call out to Tartarus to get him to help them.
"He will not help you!" I snapped. "Any last words?"
"Curse you daughter of Posideon! You shall never truly escape this prison!" they shouted at me.
"Just like you," I told them before enclosing them completely in the water from the Styx. The monsters disappeared quickly into dust and I allowed the water from the Styx to run free again. I picked up my trident and said a quick prayer to my father. I hoped just maybe he would listen, but I knew better than to get my hopes up. Then, I was back off.
Luke's POV:
I sat at the edge of the room. Jack was being questioned by Chiron and Rachel, but I didn't pay them any attention. I just thought about how Jack had said that he had been told that Mya died. He said he heard of her death, but that made no sense. Why would he hear about it? From what I knew he barely even knew her.
"Luke!" Chiron said raising his voice.
"Sorry," I muttered. I turned towards them and walked a few steps closer to the ping pong table. "What were you saying?"
"I was talking about the voice," Jack told me. "It was… well powerful, but not like a god."
"Older?" I asked him. "Did it sound wiser, ancient, cold?"
"Well ancient and wiser, but not cold," Jack told us. "It's so hard to explain."
"Well it wasn't Tartarus or Kronos," I told everyone. "I for one would know that it was not Kronos for obvious reasons, but I fear that Tartarus would sound almost identical to the Titan Lord."
No one said anything. They just sat in silence.
"Then who could it be?" Jack finally asked.
"That's a great question," I told him. "But not one for us to figure out today. Right now we need to get as many campers as possible to New Rome. We need to distract them from Mya's death."
"Yes," Chiron agreed. "We need to move quickly. Gods know how much time we have before Tartarus decides to attack."
Dylan's POV:
I had done it! I had destroyed my last demon. The last thing that held me back from my full potential was gone.
My head spun as I thought about what I had just done.
"She's gone," I said giddily. "I've done it! They're all gone!"
"Do you feel… guilty?" the voices asked me. There was a pause before they said guiltily.
"I feel," I paused for a moment. "Free. I am no longer trapped."
"Yes," the voices hissed. "Remember how free you felt when we convinced you that it was a good thing that you threw Mya into Tartarus?"
"Yes, I remember," I stated.
"What about when you realized that she died and you didn't have to do anything about that demon?" they questioned.
"It hurt at first," I said. The voices began to hiss. "Because I didn't get to do it myself."
"Yes," they hissed with delight. "Your own thoughts betrayed you. They tried to turn you away from us, but you can never escape us! No one can hide from me! Together we will tear Tartarus down from his throne with his own power he trusted you with!"
"You said 'me,'" I said out loud not meaning to.
"You dare question me?"
"No-no," I stuttered. "I would never."
"That's what we thought," they hissed at me. Then they left me completely alone.
I sat on the couch and put my head back to stare up at the ceiling. Everything was going exactly as they wanted it to. My demons were gone including Mya. I thought about what I was going to do when I stormed Olympus.
'I'm going to ask my father to join me,' I thought. 'Then, when he least expects it I will kill him!'
I removed my eyes from the ceiling and looked at my hand. They were covered in blood, but not my own. My mother's body laid on the ground by my feet. Her eyes were still open and petrified. Her blood had spread through the white carpet and tinted it red.
"All my demons are gone!" I said with a laugh.
MEEEEEEEE123~ Thank you for both of your reviews they mean so much to me!
I really like the idea that I had of Dylan and his voices that he is hearing because it really helps piece together some of the last chapters. As you know if you read them he was kind all over the place with his feelings and I purposely did that because I was planning on introducing these voices. Please let me know if you like them!
