Sakura maneuvered Sasuke through the apartment before finally laying him down on her bed. "Sasuke-kun what happened?" Sakura asked, trying not to panic. But she received no answer, Sasuke had passed out due to his blood loss. So she ran to the bathroom to get the medical supplies she kept on hand, and grabbed towels to clean him off with. She then took off his shirt, pants, and sandals so she could fully assess his injuries, "You're okay, I've got you" she whispered more so to calm herself down.
First she ran chakra through his body to look for any poison, and was thankful to find none. She then focused on a large gash running down his thigh, worried about how close it was to the major artery. Then she closed up all the smaller gashes and cuts that ran along his arm and legs. But before moving on she ate a soldier pill, knowing that she would need as much chakra as possible.
She worked tirelessly for the next two hours, closing up the wounds on his chest, mending his broken fingers, and fixing the damage done to his eyes. He hadn't woken up throughout the process, but Sakura knew it was best that he just stay asleep for now. She was about to fall asleep when she heard a small cry, "How could I forget about him?" Sakura thought, mentally scolding herself.
When Sakura walked in Kiyoshi's room he was standing up in his crib, happy to see her after his nap. But his smile quickly turned into a frown when he saw her, "Kiyoshi what's wrong?" Sakura asked, concerned at his sudden expression. Tears began to well up in his eyes as he pointed at her and shook his head. She then looked down at her clothes, only to realize that they were covered in Sasuke's blood.
"I'm okay baby, just wait right here for a moment" Sakura asked, while kissing his forehead and then quickly going to her room and changing her clothes. Once back in his room she said, "See Mama is fine" in the happiest tone she could muster. Content with her answer but still shaken up, Kiyoshi reached his arms out to her. So she brought him into her arms and held him close, hoping to bring them both some much needed comfort.
Nighttime came and Sakura was exhausted, she had stretched herself thin with taking care of Kiyoshi and periodically healing Sasuke. But nevertheless she still put on a happy face as she ate dinner with Kiyoshi. His babbling and bubbly personality helped take her mind off of the injured man in her room. After dinner she gave Kiyoshi a bath and was able to get him to bed early. She then had a warm shower, to help clear her mind and cleanse her body of all the blood and grime from the long day she had.
Once Sakura was done in the shower, she changed into an oversized grey hoodie and a pair of light blue cotton shorts with matching fuzzy socks. Next she checked on Sasuke one more time to make sure he was still asleep and hadn't gotten a fever. She then pulled the covers over him, before turning off the light and shutting the door.
Not wanting to intrude on either of the boy's, Sakura grabbed a pillow and blanket and made herself comfortable on the couch for the night. As she drifted off to sleep, she couldn't help but feel relieved to have both Sasuke and Kiyoshi safe, under the same roof.
Sakura awoke earlier than usual the next morning due to the loud storm that was brewing in Konoha. So she got up and started brewing some coffee, before going to check on Sasuke's condition. Slowly opening the door, she went and sat next to him on the edge of the bed. He didn't stir at all as Sakura brushed the stray hairs out of his face. "I hope you wake up soon, you have some explaining to do" she said with a strained laigh. She then ran her chakra through his body to make sure his injuries were healing properly.
Satisfied with his progress, Sakura left the room and went back to the kitchen to pour herself a warm cup of coffee. About 30 minutes later she heard Kiyohi begin to wake up, so she headed into his room to get him. "Mama" was the first thing she heard as she opened up the door, "Good morning baby" Sakura said in a warm tone, as she picked him up and gave him a big hug.
"You and I are going to have to stay inside today," she explained to Kiyoshi, as she changed his diaper and him into a warm jumper. "Wawa" Kiyoshi said, as they both walked into the kitchen and began making his bottle. "Exactly, it's raining so you and I get to play inside and watch movies today" Sakura said happily, while handing her little boy his bottle.
Sakura then prepared a light breakfast of toast and vanilla yogurt with strawberries and bananas, which Kiyoshi loved even though most of it ended up on his face. "You're supposed to eat the yogurt, not wear it silly" Sakura said lovingly, as she wiped his mouth off.
But she was brought out of the moment by a deep "Sakura" and when she looked up, she saw Sasuke leaned up against the wall of the living room with a blanket wrapped around him.
"Sasuke-kun you shouldn't be up" she said, worried his injuries could reopen. "I'm fine," Sasuke said, as he tightened the grip on the blanket he had wrapped around himself. "Nonsense, I know how bad your injuries are" she retorted, as she moved him to sit down on the couch. "I'm sorry about your clothes, I had to get them off to heal you. But I'll run out to get you some" Sakura said, while taking Kiyoshi out of the highchair and moving him to the playpen.
But as soon as Kiyoshi saw the dark haired man, he yelled "Saaa!" and reached his arms out for him. "Sasuke-kun is hurt, we need to let him rest" Sakura tried to explain to her son. "It's okay Sakura," Sasuke said, patting the spot next to him for Kiyoshi.
So she reluctantly set the little boy next to him, who immediately crawled into his lap. "Hey Kiyoshi, go easy on me there" Sasuke bit out, trying to hold back a grimace. "I'm going to go out and get you some clothes," Sakura said, as she put on a raincoat and rubber boots. "You don't need-" Sasuke began to say before she cut him off, "You don't get a say in this, Kiyoshi be good for Sasuke-kun I'll be back soon" she announced, as she headed out the door.
Sasuke was left there feeling extremely guilty, knowing he had broken her trust once more. He had truly meant to come back that week, but one thing led to another and he was called out for an urgent mission. A squirming toddler brought him out of his thoughts, "Saaa" Kiyoshi said, while making grabby hands at him. This caused a small smile to form on the man's face, as he grabbed onto the small boy's hand.
"How have you been?" Sasuke asked, as Kiyoshi made himself comfortable against his chest. Kiyoshi then began to tell Sasuke about his new friends, grandparents, and his Mama of course. Even though it was mostly just babbles and funny noises, Sasuke was just happy to be listening to him after being alone for the last three months.
Kiyoshi eventually got up and started showing Sasuke all his toys and figures, when Sakura finally arrived back. "I got you some sweatpants and a long sleeve shirt, but you need a shower first. You honestly kind of smell" Sakura teased, trying to ease the tension. "Tch, thank you" Sasuke said, as he took the clothes from her and headed into the bathroom. Sakura then reheated some miso soup and made some onigiri for Sasuke to eat once he was done showering.
About 20 minutes later, Sasuke re emerged from the bathroom and sat down at the kitchen table in front of the food. Sakura sat across from him at the table and stayed quiet as he started eating. "I owe you an explanation" Sasuke said, finally breaking the silence. But instead of speaking, Sakura just looked at him, waiting for him to go on.
"I was going to come back that week like I said. But while I was filling out paperwork with Kakashi, he received an alert about a small village in the Land of Iron that had been attacked by a group of rogues. And since I was already there he sent me out, and it took me longer than I expected to track them all down." Sasuke explained, hoping she would understand.
Sakura processed his words for a moment, before saying "I understand Sasuke-kun, I just wish you had said something before leaving. I was so worried you had just decided to leave again." she revealed. "Sakura I wouldn't do that, you know that I'm here for both of you now" Sasuke said, reiterating his past words.
"Well it's hard to believe that when you disappear for months at a time, especially after all the happy memories we made together. Was all that just for fun after your journey?" Sakura snarled, trying to hide the tears that she felt coming on.
After hearing that, Sasuke stood up and slammed his fist on the table. "You want the truth? I want nothing more than for you two to be my family. I spent every day of those four years thinking of you and the life we could have. All I want is to be a part of your lives, I want to be your husband and a father figure to Kiyoshi. And I know we could have a happy life together, Sakura." Sasuke blurted out, finally confessing his true feelings.
Sakura was taken back by his words, not expecting him to be so forthcoming with his feelings. "Well I want that too" she admitted quietly, tears finally spilling over.
Sasuke then walked over to her and wiped her tears away with his thumb, "Then we'll start by going out tomorrow night" he proposed with a smirk. And she couldn't help but laugh at his words, as she leaned her face into his hand.
They stayed like that for a moment until Kiyoshi came toddling into the room. "Mo" he said excitedly, while holding out a movie to Sakura. "I did say we would watch movies today, would you like to join us?" Sakura asked, while taking the movie from Kiyoshi and putting it into the player. "Of course" Sasuke replied, with a smile on his face that hadn't surfaced in months.
So the three curled up together on the couch with a thick blanket covering them, Sakura was cuddled into Sasuke's side as he wrapped his arm around her. And Kiyoshi was nuzzled up between the both of them, enjoying the warmth and comfort they offered.
Halfway through the movie, they all found themselves dozing off, due to the calm atmosphere and the sound of the rain outside. So they had an impromptu nap together, all of them getting some much needed rest.
About an hour and a half later, the two adults were awoken by Kiyoshi moving around between them. "What is it sweetheart?" Sakura asked, as she ran her fingers through his thick hair. "Mama" was all he said while pointing at his tummy, "I see, let's get you some dinner then" she said, while forcing herself up from Sasuke's warm embrace and picking Kiyoshi up.
She placed him in his highchair and then began heating up some left over yakitori and udon noodles for them to eat. Sasuke joined the two at the table while they ate, listening to all the life updates Sakura had to give.
After dinner the rest of the night went by smoothly, with Sakura checking on Sasuke's injuries and Kiyoshi tiring himself out with his toys. Sakura then gave Kiyoshi his bath, and by the time he was dressed for bed he could barely keep his hazel eyes open. So she laid him in his crib with a kiss to his forehead, before telling him goodnight and heading to her room.
When she walked in her room, she was met with Sasuke lounging snuggly on her bed. "Someone looks comfy" Sakura teased as she picked out a set of pajamas to sleep in. "Hn, I am but not as comfortable as I could be" he said, while opening up the covers for her. "One moment" she said with a grin, before disappearing into the bathroom to change her clothes and brush her teeth.
She came out of the bathroom in a forest green sweatshirt and black cotton shorts, feeling refreshed and ready to sleep. Sasuke still had the covers open for her, so she slid in next to him and immediately curled into his side. "I think I understand why Kiyoshi likes laying on your chest so much," Sakura said with a chuckle. Sasuke responded with a deep hum before saying, "It's reserved for you two only" while wrapping his lone arm around her. "And any other little ones who join the family" he quickly added.
His words caused a deep blush to spread on Sakura's face, before she said "You're right but before that, where will you be taking me tomorrow night?" with an unsure smile. "We could go have dinner somewhere nice, then go walk around the shopping market or come back here and watch a movie." Sasuke suggested, not exactly confident on how dates work.
"I'd like that, I can take Kiyoshi to my parents and he can spend the night there" Sakura said, now mentally making a checklist of all the things she'll need to pack for her son. "Hn, sounds good but you need to sleep" he said, before mumbling, "You should wear another sundress tomorrow night" while tucking her head into his chest, not wanting her to see the red tinge on his face.
Listening to his words, Sakura couldn't believe that the same Sasuke who was once feared throughout all the nations, was now cuddling with her and talking about having more children in the future. "He's changed so much" Sakura thought affectionately, before whispering "Okay Sasuke-kun I will" with a smile, as she kissed him on the corner of his mouth and closed her eyes for the night.
"Goodnight Sakura" the dark haired man murmured, while brushing his lips across her forehead and pulling her closer.
