The halloween party was as amazing as daddy had promised. When I walked into the Great Room, I was stunned by the sheer beauty before me. Everything was golden. Ornaments on the walls, glittering jewels in the chandeliers, cups, plates, even the food—everything had hints of gold in it. It was nothing short of magnificent. Popular music was playing through a sound system, but in the corner a small band waited to play the songs for the traditional dances we'd learned. Cameras—both for photography and video—dotted the room. No doubt this would be the highlight of America programming tomorrow. There couldn't be a celebration equal to this one. I briefly wondered what it would be like if I was still here at Christmastime.

Everyone's costumes were gorgeous. Lexi was dressed as an angel and dancing with John. She even had wings that looked like they'd been made out of iridescent paper floating behind her. Regina's dress was short and made of feathers, with a large plume behind her head announcing she was a peacock. Kriss was dressed as fall.

Around the room, all the family and friends were in costume, too, and the guards were equally dashing. I saw a baseball player, a cowboy, someone in a suit with a name tag that said GAVRIL FADAYE, and one guard so bold as to put on a lady's dress. A few girls were near him, laughing up a storm. But many of the guards were in the dress version of their uniforms, which were simply pressed white pants and their blue jackets. They had on gloves but no hats, and these features helped distinguish them from the guards who were actually on duty, surrounding the perimeter of the room.

I myself was dressed as a fairy Princess. A pink tulle dress with spaghetti strap sleeves, tiny roses sewn-in, and a ruffle around the bust. It was shorter than what I was used to. Glittery, translucent wings were attached to the back. I wore lace-up light pink heels. My hair was curled, with a gold floral tiara on my head.

"Renesmee, you look fantastic." I turned around to see my father. He was dressed as a pirate. A white shirt with a lace up v-neck, black pants, black leather shoes, a red belt, and a pirate hat.

"Thanks." I tucked a lock of hair behind my ear.

"You look natural in a tiara."

"I do?" I couldn't help but to smile.

"Of course."

I spotted my mom walk into the room. She was dressed as a devil. Her dress was a blood red slip style; short, v-neck, spaghetti strap sleeves. Red tail, tall blood red heels, fishnet tights. Her hair was curled, falling down to her hips, pulled out of her face with a red devils horn headband.

"Who's that?" Dad asked.

"MOM!" I screamed, running to hug her. She chuckled and hugged me back, wrapping her arms around me. "I missed you. How's Washington? Is work going okay?"

"I'm fine. Don't worry. Now, tell me, how is the competition going?"

"Really good! He favors me."

"Of course he does."

"Bella," Dad greeted her.

"Edward," She growled, glaring at my father.

"What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to see my daughter. Is that too much to ask for?"

"I never thought of you as the motherly type."

"Things changed after you left," She snapped. "Why don't you dance with Nessie? Go on. I'm going to find my parents."

"Of course." He led me onto the dance floor and began twirling me around. I was having a lot of fun. I noticed that Lexi and John were dancing a bit too…..intimately. But I brushed it off.

I was just happy, having my parents together again, even if they're not in love.

I couldn't imagine anything strong enough to take that happiness away.
