Chapter 8 : Multiverse

Hermione

Hermione had finished all her classes for the day and retired to the library for some much needed reading. She thought back to the kiss she had shared with Draco this morning. It was certainly beautiful. She sighed. Maybe she was falling in love after all? A few months ago, she would have been certain that even an alternate reality would not contain a situation of this kind. Then it struck her. Like a lightning bolt an idea had struck her beyond witty mind. She quickly hurried to the forbidden section of the library and slipped in. She had already gotten several permission strips from her teachers who trusted her not to misuse knowledge.

She spotted the aisle of books she was looking for and grabbed the book that she had always been fascinated by besides the history of hogwarts. She also grabbed a potions book from the same section and hurried to her room. It was going to indeed be a long and interesting night.

By the time it was 6 in the morning, she had already formulated a plan which seemed to be the most possible out of all the others she had thought of. She got dressed and sprinted to the room of requirement where she and draco had decided to meet. She found him reading a book and when his eyes met hers, his lips formed a smile that melted her heart to the core.

"Good morning beautiful" He said " Aren't we in a hurry today? What made you run all the way here? Couldn't wait to see me with my devilishly handsome face, eh?"

She punched him on the arm lightly and chuckled.

"Oh please, I've seen better. You're more of a 9 out of 10." She smirked.

"And I'm the one you need huh?"

"You're impossible" She giggled. " Anyway, I'm here in such a hurry because I think I've Found a solution to our problem."

She held up the book in her hand and Draco's eyes widened.

"You want to see what happens in one of the alternate realities where we win and use the same formula to win the war in our world as well?" Draco asked in disbelief.

"Let me explain this to you. Right now, some of our alternate reality selves are probably at war and we've got to find out which one of them with a few spells that might be a bit complicated but i might just be able to pull it off. Next, we brew up a potion that is surprisingly easy to make but in combination with the spell it's next to impossible. If we can pull this off successfully and that is a huge if, we will be able to hopefully view an alternate reality that is winning or will win the war and find out what they did to win the war!"

"Don't you think this is a bit dangerous and extremely difficult even though you are extremely talented?" Draco asked with concern.

"I think this is the least dangerous option because the risk only starts at the point where we execute the plan in our other plans that I thought of, all include either actually going to the alternate reality or using time turners which don't even exist anymore. So as far as I know, this is our best shot." Hermione said.

Draco smiled at her and stroked her cheek gently with his thumb.

"I cannot believe that I didn't see you for the amazing and talented witch you are. I love you beyond what words can express and I'll stand by every decision you make." Draco said lovingly.

"Thank you for believing in me and wanting to be by my side." Said Hermione as she blushed at which Draco chuckled and kissed her forehead.

After five hours of collecting ingredients for their portion and setting up the right conditions for the spell, they were finally ready to observe the parallel universe that they had chosen.d

"Ready?" Draco asked and held onto Hermione's hand firmly. Hermione nodded.

Hermione started uttering a long and complicated spell with elaborate movements of her wand. Her brows were furrowed with intense concentration and in about two minutes, sweat beads had started to trickle down her forehead. When ten minutes had passed, Hermione felt completely exhausted but she had finished the spell successfully and now both her and Draco were standing in a glowing sphere. She had done it. A sense of pride and joy rushed through her. Draco was looking at her with the most adoring and proud expression as well which made her even more happier.

"Ok, now that that's done, we need to take the potion after which our bodies should go into deep slumber while our brains become ten timed=s more active in order to take in what we see in the multiverse." said Hermione.

"Alright then, let's tuck in" Said Draco and with that they downed the portions.

Draco

Draco felt like he had slept for hours and was just getting up. When he saw the scene around him, his eyes widened. He seemed to be in the heart of the great hall and everyone was running around, casting spells to keep Voldemort and his supporters out of school boundaries. He suddenly remembered how he ended up here and that all of this was a multiverse. He frantically searched for Hermione but he couldn't see her anywhere. He figured this was all happening inside his head as a vision and that was why he wasn't able to see her.

Draco did not waste any time after realization had dawned upon him. He needed to find out what year or date this was. He ran up to the Slytherin common room and found out that he could not get in, nor could anyone see or hear him. This was just great. How was he supposed to figure out the timeline and how the actual hell did he plan on finding out what these guys were doing to stop Voldemort ! Maybe Multiverse Potter and his gang would know? Only one way to find out.

The next thing Draco did was to search the school for Potter. He would be the first person to come up with a plan being the tragic little hero he is. Draco turned out to be right because when he reached the entrance of the room of requirement, he saw Potter giving out orders to the so-called Dumbledore's army. He was telling Neville to find Voldemort's snake, Nagini and was telling carrot top and Hermione to find a basilisk's fang in the chamber of secrets. It seemed like Ron and Hermione were pretty into each other in this dimension. That thought made him scowl. Draco wondered what a horcrux meant when Harry said that he was going to find one in the Ravenclaw common room.

Draco did not understand why Potter required all of the objects he had just heard about, but he also knew that Potter was on to something and probably even had a good plan with a chance of working. Uhg. Since when did he start thinking that Potty's plans were good. Anyhow, he followed him all the way to the Ravenclaw common room where Harry had started to talk to some sort of Ravenclaw ghost. It turned out to be the ghost of Rowena Ravenclaw's daughter to whom Potter was trying to explain what he would do if he had the diadem. He was trying to convince her into giving it to him. Turned out that horcruxes were what Voldemort used to split his soul into seven parts and these guys were trying to find the 3 last horcruxes.

Draco listened to their conversation intently for the next 20 minutes and he gathered a lot more information than he would have even if he was Voldemort's right hand. Apparently, Nagini and the diadem were the last of the horcruxes that Voldemort had created, but there was a seventh one that he had created that he himself did not know about - Harry Potter himself. Draco now stood baffled in silence as he took in all the information. Soon he was running behind Potter, through the corridors to get the room of requirement where he saw his alternate self with Crabbe and Goyle. And to his astonishment they were trying to stop Potter and it seemed like the Multiverse Draco was a devout Voldemort supporter.

Nothing about him was right in this world. He had let himself become a helpless puppet instead of fighting back. Hermione in this world seemed to get along amazingly with the other two of the golden trio and worst of all, she was fighting against Multiverse Draco and even loathed him. He was overwhelmed with pain and the thought of a world where he wasn't with Hermione. Just as a tear rolled his cheek, he blacked out.
