Chapter 8

We continue our story later in the day at Royal Woods Elementary, where…

School Bell: "Ringggg!"

Lola (Walks out of her classroom with Lana following right behind her): "Man! That test was brutal!"

Lana: "You're telling me Lola! I thought it would never end!"

Clyde (Walks up to them): "Hey Lola, hey Lana."

Lola: "Oh…" (Crosses her arms): "Hello Clyde."

Clyde: "Are you two all right? You seem a little peeved."

Lana: "We really don't want to talk about it right now."

Lola: "Is there something you want?"

Clyde: "Well…first off I want to say I'm sorry on what I heard about Lincoln. How's he doing?"

Lana and Lola (Both are not sure on how to answer that question, while starting to panic a little): "Ummm…"

Lana: "He's feeling…a little better."

Lola: "But he's still highly contagious…So, he should not have any visitors come over whatsoever!"

Lana: "And he has to stay quarantine in his bedroom…for the…time being."

Lola and Lana (Both giving off a crooked smile): "Heh…"

Clyde (Takes a deep breath): "Okay, but when you see him later, tell him that his bud hopes that he gets better soon. Oh…" (Goes into his backpack): "Can you also give him this?" (Pulls out a container): "It's my dad's all better soup. I had this the last time I was sick and it worked like a charm."

Lola: "Oh Clyde…" (Takes the container): "That's so sweet!"

Lana: "We'll make sure Lincoln gets it."

Clyde: "Thanks." (Looks at his phone): "Oh, gotta go, my rides here." (Walks away): "Later guys!"

Lana and Lola: "Bye!"

Lana (Feels a sense of relief): "Whew! That was close."

Lola: "You said it."

An hour later, back at the Loud House…

Lincoln (Still sleeping): "Zzz…"

?: "Lincoln…"

Lincoln: "Zzz…"

?: "Lincoln…"

Lincoln (Starts to stir): "Zz…Snort…Huh…Wha…"

?: "Wake up…"

Lincoln (Opens his eyes): "Huh…Lucy…is that…" (Vision clears up and... Sees Lucy is right in front of him): "Ah!"

Lucy (A small grin appears on her face for a second): "Sleep well little poet?"

Lincoln (Calms down): "Hey Lucy, when did you get home?"

Lucy: "School ended about an hour ago?"

Lincoln (Notices somethings and gets up): "Wait a minute…" (Sees that he is not in the living room anymore): "What I am doing in your room?"

Lucy: "Don't you remember our system? It's my turn to watch over you."

Lincoln (Remembers): "Oh, right. Wait...why didn't you wake me up first, before bringing me up here?"

Lucy (Grins again, while quickly ruffling his hair): "No reason…"

An awkward silence quickly falls afterwards…

Lincoln: "Umm…" (Sees that he is standing on Lucy's desk): "I see you like to keep a clean desk."

Lucy: "Thanks."

A few seconds of awkwardness later…

Lucy: "Lincoln, I need your help."

Lincoln: "With what?"

Lucy: "I have a meeting with my fellow Mortician's later this evening. And I decided to write a poem to read to in front them. But I'm having a bit of trouble finding words that rhyme for it. Do you think can lend me your assistance?"

Lincoln: "Oh…" (Gives her a smile): "Sure Lucy. I'm always happy to help you with your poems."

Lucy (Returns the smile): "Wicked. Let's get started then."

And so, Lucy started to read her poem. While she's doing that, Lincoln decides to walk along the desk as he's listening, ready to help when his sister requires it. Unfortunately, though…

Lincoln (Starts to slip): "Whoa! Whoa! Hey! Whoa! Ahhh!" (Falls and lands on his back): "Oof!"

Lucy (Looks up from her paper): "Gasp! Are you okay Lincoln?"

Lincoln (Tries to get up): "Yeah, I'm fine Lucy, I just …" (Starts to slip again): "…slippp…. Ahhh!" (Falls and lands on his back for a second time): "Oof!" (Sits up): "Oh… heh-heh. I guess trying to walk along a clean smooth desk with just your socks on, is kind of like trying to walk on an ice-skating rink without ice-skates. Heh-heh…am I right?"

Lucy: "This simply cannot do. Clearly, you will hurt yourself if this pursues. Oh, that's good!" (Writes on her paper): "Better write that down."

Lincoln (Looks down at his feet and gets an idea): "Oh, this should be an easy problem to fix Lucy." (Goes for his feet): "I'll just take my socks off and…"

Before he can do so, Lucy grabs her brother and plops him down on her lap.

Lucy: "There we go…" (Has same the grin from before): "Now we can work on my poem and keep you safe at the exact time."

Lincoln (Feels uncomfortable about this): "Umm…Lucy? You really didn't have to…"

Lucy (Ruffles his hair again): "Let's continue, shall we?"

Lincoln (Puts his head down): "Sigh."
