Wow! This chapter is even shorter... not sure why.
Anyway, as I promised, here is chapter eight.

Chapter Eight

Kayla woke up laying on the cold, cement flooring of what looked like an empty warehouse, her hands and feet bound together and a thick piece of cloth rolled and placed between her teeth, being tied around behind her head. She lifted her head off the ground when she realized that she wasn't alone. There was a man in the shadows, and once she was able to reach a sitting position, she glared at this intruder. He walked towards her, reaching out a hand and gently running it along her bruised jaw.

"I'm sorry, did that hurt?" he asked in a mocking tone as she winced. She gave a slight nod. "Good. That will show you that I am not joking and that things will be my way. You will answer any questions I ask, truthfully, and do as I say. Do you understand?" she nodded, and he began to walk away. "Don't worry, you won't be here for long."

Felicity's fingers were typing faster than ever before; Caitlin was redressing Alex's head wound, as blood seeped through the last two gauze strips quickly. The other members of the group were pacing and conversing, asking the hard questions.

"What do you think he's done to them?"

"Do you think they're hurt?"

"Are they still alive?" Cisco asked as Oliver and Kara silent the entire time. "I mean, they were kidnapped by a serial killer who I'm surprised didn't kill Alex, Kayla, or William right then and there. Maybe we should be looking for bodies."

"They're alive!" Felicity yelled.

"Sure, but you don't know that, Felicity."

"Yes, I do," she stated, her voice perking up as she stared at the screens in front of her. "Todd sent a ransom and a video recording time-stamped ten minutes ago. They're alive!" It was true, as everyone gathered, they saw Kayla and William, sitting next to each other, both bound and gagged.

"Did he send a location for the ransom meet?" Oliver questioned.

"No," Felicity answered. "But, he did send a message. It says, 'quake', and nothing else."

"Maybe it's a code for something," Barry said. It was, but it was something only Oliver knew; 'quake' referred to the time when the two of them were playing in Oliver's dad's warehouse when his dad made a fake earthquake that scared both young boys. Todd was holding William and Kayla in a warehouse; he also knew that he was being lured to them, so he left the room.

"I think Oliver knows what the word means," she told the team. "He just left the room."

"We need to get to National City," John spoke. "That's probably where they are."

The Supers and those who couldn't fly or didn't have superspeed landed outside National City. Oliver taking off almost immediately, with everyone else following. They reached the warehouse district and decided that Oliver was the one who would go inside the building where Todd was, while the others stand ready out of sight. Oliver went through four buildings when he came across the one where two forms were sitting on the ground, both gagged, bound, and blindfolded, waiting for something to happen. Kayla and William were alone with someone standing in the shadows. Oliver burst in, but as he approached, Todd lifted a gun, pointed between the two captives' heads, and spoke.

"You know the drill, Oliver," Todd began. "You come closer, they die." he made a movement in the air with the gun, telling Oliver that he had backup and that he was going to be outnumbered. Through a door in the corner, one that was not easy to see came two very large men, who were both carrying a weapon; they stood behind Oliver before they pushed him towards their boss. They pushed him until he was standing in front of two people he cared for. Todd removed the blindfolds to reveal two faces; Kayla's battered, a split lip, bruises on her jaw, and on her eyes and cheeks, in the shape of fist marks, and William's soft, unharmed face, showing that he was scared. Oliver looked across their faces, his showing that it wasn't hurting him, but his eyes telling a different story. Todd took notice of this as he grabbed Kayla's arm, directly in a spot where it was bruising; she winced.

"Oliver," Todd looked into his eyes. "Tell me. Which one will die? You have to choose, or both of them will get a bullet in their head." Oliver's eyes widened at his words, he was reliving the other times he was in this situation; he had to choose between his close friend, Sara, and a girl who he had met on Lian Yu, Shado, and then after he got home, he had to choose between his mom and Thea; Shado and Moira died, though he didn't choose anyone. He was stonewalling his decision as he was barely conscious. Todd's anger was rising.

"If you don't choose now, they're both dead in thirty seconds!" Todd yelled. Kayla's weak eyes looked up at Oliver, and they rolled over and over. It was the signal the team had agreed on just as they were leaving the cave, and it meant that whoever was using the sign, they were the robot. The robot technology was able to be programmed to make itself look like whoever the programmer wanted, and it took on every characteristic the person had, making them a clone. This at least meant that if he chose to save William, Kayla wouldn't get hurt. He still couldn't watch something that looked like her get shot in the head. He didn't know what to do.

A/N: As I said, sorry it was short.
