Sophie: Dex you have the time machine.
Dex: Yep.
Sophie: Set it to take us back to chapter one.
Dex: Doing it.
Me: Stop right there. Any time somebody goes back in time to change the past it creates a temporarily paradox.
Sophie: What.
Aarnav: Say you go back in time and kill your grandfather when they were a kid. You would then never have been born and then never have been able to kill your grandfather. (Example taken from fifth wave series.)
Dex: Why would you kill your grandfather.
Sophie: That's not a problem for me because I don't know who my biological grandfather is.
Me: It was just a thought experiment. The same thing happens with everything you change in the past.
Sophie: Your trying to right us as similarly as possible to us in the series (and failingmiserably) and Shannon Messenger's Sophie never listened when someone told her not to do something dangerous.
Something similar to the next scene happens in every Keeper book (I stole this joke from a random KotLC meme)
Sophie: Dex you can't come. It's to dangerous.
Dex: There's no way I'm letting you go alone.
Sophie: Fine you can come.
Sophie and and Dex disappear in a cloud of smoke.
Me talking aloud to myself: This is a real problem. They will create a temporal paradox and I don't know how to right something that's a paradox because my brain can't understand them. There's only one thing I can do. Time travel myself.
I time travel and teleport to Dex house well he's sleeping and destroy Dex time travel machine he made last night. After I teleport back to the present time I then change this universe's laws of physics making it impossible to time travel. The start of this chapter never actually happened.
Aarnav: If the start of the chapter never happened why would you have went back in time to destroy Dex time machine. It's illogical.
Me: When has anything that happened in this bizarre monstrosity ever make sense.
Tam: He has a point.
The end of this chapter
