Epilogue:
As Rey buries both Luke's and Leia's lightsabers into the sands outside of the Lars homestead. Picard holds a vigil where Shmi and Cliegg Lars are buried, as is Owen and Beru.
Picard gives a eulogy, "We are gathered here today among friends to remember those who have gone before us. We remember the heroism of Luke and Leia Skywalker, Han Solo, and Jedi Grandmaster Obi-Wan Kenobi. We remember all those who have perished in the great battles of the past and the recent conflict against a great evil. As Captain, it is always a hard duty to give these speeches about those officers who have died in the line of duty for the sake of the freedoms we enjoy here and in our own galaxy.
"Many a great people in our Earth's history have paid the ultimate price for the independence of one nation, or one planet. The same can be said in this galaxy as well, in its conflicts.
We call on the spirits of those who have gone on before into the afterlife of the Force to guide in the coming days and to lead us to new adventures in our lives. We hope that the living Force which surrounds us here will be with you, always, wherever you may be. Amen!"
And the crew echoed the ending comment. Rey spoke, Finn spoke, Poe spoke. Many others spoke.
The crews of the Enterprise D and E depart the Vortex galaxy for the last time, allowing Rey to join Starfleet, as well as Finn, Poe, Rose Tico and anyone who wanted to join the ranks of the Federation.
