Inside the ballroom, all of the new initiates begin choosing their own spaces and laying out bedrolls for the night ahead with students utilising the attached bathrooms as a changing facility quickly swapping from their combat clothes they arrived in for sleepwear. As other students settled in Ruby already in her pyjamas consisting of a black tank top and long white pants decorated with pink roses, was busy writing a lengthy letter using her pillow as a rest, at this Yang wearing an orange tank top with her emblem on the front in red, and black shorts dives into her bedroll laid alongside her youngest sister before admitting that this wasn't so bad after all it was like one big sleepover.

To this Ruby simply points out that their father probably would not approve of all the boys around Yang however does not seem bothered about this confessing that she has no problems with it purring while ogling at the males around them yet as she scans the surrounding eye candy her eyes find Jaune happily walking along In a bright blue bunny footed pyjamas quickly ruining the girl's fantasies.

Now turning her attention to her younger sister, Yang questions what Ruby is writing, who reveals that the letter she is writing is to the 'gang' back at Signal academy. Ruby had promised to describe Beacon to them and write them about how things are going which brings a smile to Yang's face as she teases her sister that she is too cute sometimes, but this just results in a frustrated Ruby tossing a pillow at the older sister.

"I didn't get to take my friends with me to school, it's weird not knowing anyone here."

Seeing her sister's upset Yang points out that Jaune knows them and he's… nice, plus one friend for Ruby, but at the Blonde's reassurance Ruby points out that there is also Weiss who counts as a minus friend, so the young girl is back to zero. To this, Yang shuffles closer before adding that Ruby also knows that one weird guy with the scary red eyes that she was clinging on too.
"There's no such things as 'minus friends'! You just made one friend, one enemy and one crush."

With that comment, Ruby just tossed another pillow at her older sister's face before lying on her back and staring up at the ceiling.

Yang took on a more sincere tone once again reassuring her younger sister,

"Look, it's only been one day. Give it time trust me, you've got friends all around you. You just haven't met them yet."

As Ruby thought on this, she turned her attention to the raven-haired female she had seen when she first met Weiss who still had the same book in hand reading by candlelight with Yang also taking notice of this.

"That girl."

"You know her?"

"Not really… She saw what happened this morning but left before I could say anything."

At this, Yang decides that now is Ruby's chance, so she jumps to her feet before dragging her sister behind her as she saunters over to the figure still glued to the book in her hand before being pulled from the pages by a sing-song voice approaching.

"Helloooo! I believe you two may know each other!"

The Raven-haired figure turns her attention to the shorter black-haired girl before her as she recognises her from this morning.

"Aren't you that girl who exploded?"

"Uhh yeah! My names Ruby, but you can just call me crater… Actually, you can just call me Ruby" quickly cutting herself off from using the previous nickname Jaune had given her before extending her hand. However, the girl sat before her simply hummed in acknowledgement before continuing with her book.

Yang seeing her sister struggle then asked the raven-haired female what her name was too, which she blankly replied 'Blake'.

"Well,, Blake, I'm Yang! Ruby's older sister. Um… I like your bow."

"Thanks"

"It goes great with your… pyjamas."

"Right…"

"Nice night, don't you think?"

"Yes, It's lovely.

Almost as lovely as this book…
That I will continue to read…

As soon as you leave."

Yang's expression quickly dropped realising how difficult this was getting with no thanks to 'Blake' as the bow wearing girl wanted nothing more than to be left alone so she can return to her book in peace. Before Yang can give up on the idea; however, Ruby asks Blake about the book, she is reading both out of wanting to continue the conversation and also out of curiosity.

Blake then goes on to describe the story of a man with two souls battling for dominance within him as the man also struggles to maintain his own life and happiness much to Ruby's delight and Yang's disinterest. Ruby explains that she loves books as Yang used to read her stories before bed every night and it was those tales of heroes and monsters, legends and warriors that initially inspired Ruby to pursue a career as a Huntress.

This piqued Blakes interest as she marked the page in her book before turning her attention back to the young girl in front of her and inquiring further.

"Hoping you'll live happily ever after?"

"I'm hoping we all will. When I was little, I wanted to be just like the heroes in the stories." Ruby seemed to grow newfound confidence as she continued with her dream bringing her closed fist up to her chest

"Someone who fought for what was right and who protected people that couldn't protect themselves."

Blake seemed taken aback by Ruby's conviction but also seemed unsure of the girl's childish perspective of the world. Expressing that while ambitious unfortunately the real world isn't the same as the fairy tales but to this Ruby only offered that well that is why they were there, the role of the huntsman and huntresses they aspire to be is to make the world a better place.

As the group begins their goodbyes for the night, they are quickly interrupted by Weiss pointing out that some people are trying to sleep, herself included and as Weiss; Yang and Ruby begin arguing over Weiss's problem with Ruby and how Ruby is a danger to the young heiress's health Blake simply blows the candles out plunging the corner of the ballroom into darkness.

At the tip of Beacon's central tower sits Ozpin's office with an intricate clockwork mechanism consisting of many interlocking bronze cogs and gears woven throughout the room and a large clock face positioned behind the headmaster's desk affording an expansive view of the grounds below. As Ozpin gazes out over his academy with mug in hand the soft ding of an elevator arriving sounds on the opposing side of the room. Instead of turning, he continues his focus on the outside as a single light suddenly goes out in the ballroom and greets the arrival,

"It is good to see you came back here, though she would not show it I am positive Glynda and the others cannot wait to see you again and to see your obvious growth spurt no doubt."

Pointing out the boy's obvious changes over the years as he grew into a young man. To this Talon chuckles,

"It is good to be back again father, it feels like it's been far too long since I last walked these halls. Though I am glad nothing seems to have changed, I would much rather not to have to relearn my way around."

"It did take you some time to master it in your youth, I recall the days you spent getting lost as a child. Though I see you do not seem to have the same problems now. In fact, from what I saw at the entrance ceremony, you seemed to have found yourself guiding the lost taking the form of the young miss Rose and mister Arc."

Talon growled at the reminder of his navigational sense, or lack thereof before defending that he was not lost in the days of his youth merely observing the scenic routes the academy had to offer.

"Such as the storage sheds, cloakrooms and janitor's closets you often got stuck in." Ozpin elaborated while still remembering the times all those years ago while Talon seemed to form a cartoonish vein on his forehead at the mention of this.

As the older male continued to draw humour from the two's shared past, the younger attempted to change the subject to something less focused on his embarrassing past experiences.

"But you are correct yes, I met with the two special cases you had described and though rough around the edges or in the Arc boy's case jagged they do both seem to harbour potential, and I suppose that is what this Academy is for in the first place after all. To smooth out the rough edges."

As the two took a moment of silence to agree to the words said, Talon brought up his father's drifting attention at the welcome speech. "You have felt it too right, that is why some of the students commented that you seemed 'off' during the speech. Something is happening with this year's attendees isn't it."

To this Ozpin simply nodded before adding that a dusty old crow has reported that something seems unusual as of late however this revelation brings fury to the young man's normally stoic expression before sneering that,

"So a drunken old fool say's something is the matter and we just take his word for it. The drunkard can't tell what's actually around him from his own delusions!"

However, even with the younger male's annoyed tone, Ozpin does not waver before answering that while he understands Talon's anger, the information is still correct none the less. This brings a soft sigh from the dark-haired teen as he begins making his way back to the elevator,

"I know, I know I will keep my eyes open for any problems that may require me, after all, I made a promise to protect this academy, and I will uphold it. Goodnight father."
