Chapter 11

.

Sydney called Dewey and told him what the killer said to her. He immediately dropped what he was doing and together they went to the abandoned barn. They went aone, fearing that the killer was trying to get them to divert their resources.

.

Dewey: Amy's not a cop's daughter, sort of ruins my theory.

Sydney: You think this is some anti-cop fanatic?

Dewey: Maybe. Or maybe it has to do with three specific cops. David, Hanson, Johnny. I still remember back when they were teenagers, real hell-raisers. Possession of drugs, public vandalism, these days we figure it's just youthful indescretions. But since David and Hanson's daughters were both targeted, I thought maybe they did something worse back then.

Syndey: It wouldn't explain why the killer spared Mary and killed Amanda. Mary didn't even get the trivia question right.

Dewey: Yeah, unless maybe it was their first time and they lost their nerve.

Sydney: I guess everyone had their first. He told me that it was cliche to murder the girl in the first few minutes.

Dewey: Cares more about suprising the audience then high body counts.

Sydney: Yeah. He also said the only way to truley shock the audience, is to kill me.

Dewey: Others have tried you've always survived.

Sydney: Not everyone does. And eventually, one of them will suceed.

Dewey: You okay?

Sydney: Yeah, more or less. By the way, you know there will be traps at this barn right?

Dewey: Ofcourse, I've seen the "Saw" movies. Traps, multiple killers, I'm ready. The caller threatened and claimed to have tortured Mary's ex-girlfriend. He was lying about having her.

Sydney: I know he might be lying, but we can't find Amy and we can't take the chance.

Dewey: I agree, we just have to be ready for anything.

Sydney: We will be. I might die in the next few days, Amy won't.
