Yeah, I have no excuse for you guys I'm sorry for not uploading for a month. I guess NNN was actually NFN No Fanfiction November! ahahaha no seriously sorry guys I honestly got lazy and haven't been as productive as I could've been this past month still consistently uploading on youtube though :D and keeping up with my Japanese studies! Truthfully wasn't really feeling the story either but I already committed to this so I should see it through with no regrets right? Anyway I have an idea for an original story as well so idk I might upload that on fiction press one day if I ever get around to it. But without further ado here's the long-awaited chapter 9!
Izuku woke up inside of a hospital bed seeing bandages all over his body. He looked out the window and saw the moon out fully under the roaming stars of the night sky. It looked like a painting could be made of it, one that could become iconic sold in venues all around the world filling up museums. It looked as if it was a truly peaceful night compared to the chaos that took place during the day.
But, judging by the man in the corner this night was to be anything but peaceful for Izuku.
"Izuku it's been a while since I've last seen you a little over a year maybe?" Hisashi said slowly moving towards his bed grin on his face.
"Father yes it has been a little over a year are you here for me to give a status report?" Izuku asked.
"Now now before we get into all that how have you been? How's the school life been? New friends a girl in your life perhaps?" Hisashi asked smiling as if he was your normal everyday dad.
"Father you know that none of that matters. Only the mission at hand is of importance to me." Izuku replied with a blank face.
"Good. I was worried that the company of people your age might've distracted you from our goals it's nice to see that Maverick's reports of you are correct you haven't changed a bit. I'm glad to say I was correct in selecting you for this job Phantom." Hisashi said smile gone and with a much more serious tone.
"Now I could've easily have contacted you but the reports from Maverick were much to intriguing for me not to see for myself. Considering how badly injured you are since I haven't seen since you began your training, I assume that your opponent was one of the strongest you've faced?" Hisashi asked.
"Yes, father not only did it possess strength equal to that of All Might, but it also had its quirks specifically tailored towards the destruction of All Might." Izuku reported.
"Yes, I read in Maverick's report shock nullification, super strength and speed, not to mention super regeneration. I must say it's a wonder you were able to defeat something even All Might would've struggled with. I say this calls for a reward." Hisashi said grinning.
"A reward?" Izuku said confused. "What reward could I need right now?" Izuku asked.
"What assassins always need information!" Hisashi said excitedly.
"Now I'm sure you've already deducted that since they knew exactly how to counter All Might…"
"They know about One for All." Izuku finished.
"Exactly my son and other than me you and Maverick who recently found out from yourself there's only one other person who knows of All Might's secret."
"The villain who planned the attack." Izuku said with certainty. "The one behind the scenes."
"Yes, this villain I've known throughout my entire career as an assassin and I know for a fact we won't reach it until we kill him."
"Who is it father?"
"His name is All for One."
"All for One so the opposite of One for All?" Izuku questioned.
"Exactly my son as expected from you All for One is a legend in the business of assassins. Out of all the villains in the world All for One is the only villain assassins are encouraged not to take. Of the centuries that quirks have existed and the hundreds of attempts on his life he is somehow still alive."
"Wait did you say centuries?" Izuku asked somewhat confused.
"Yes, my son centuries it is confirmed through the files that All for One has lived for centuries through his quirk.
"And what is his quirk?"
"Quirk stealing. All for One is the accurate description as at will he can steal someone's quirk forever taking it for himself it is also confirmed that he can give other people the quirks he has stolen."
"So, he stole an immortality quirk or at least an age slowing quirk." Izuku observed.
"Yes, so when you told me that All Might's quirk was designated One for All I immediately had thoughts about All for One. Tell me Izuku, do you of any relation between All Might and One for All?" Hisashi asked him.
"Well no I only know the process of obtaining and transferring the quirk which is only passed down through intent and DNA. But Maverick! He told me to ask All Might about the villains who attacked USJ so you should ask him for information. But if I'm to assume anything I'm guessing One for All is a result of a quirk All for One gave to someone and he can't steal it back due to the restraints on the transfer system." Izuku explained.
"A fine theory indeed my son but we won't have confirmation until you ask him yourself so let's call it a side mission find out what their connection truly is and report when you have it." Hisashi ordered.
"I understand."
"Good now I won't disturb you any longer it's important that you recover from this fight. This was an essential benchmark to find just how strong you've become, and I am proud of how powerful you were able to become on your own. And remember-"
"Stay focused on the task at hand."
"Good. Now I'll see you when the report is ready Phantom." Hisashi said before phasing out of the room.
Izuku went back to sleep processing the information shared between him and his father and wondering what the next step after this was.
Izuku woke up the next morning to find that he had felt fully healed already he took off his bandages and all his wounds had healed letting Izuku look normal again.
This healing quirk truly is powerful, but the fatigue is noticeable as well if anyone else had this their body would probably feel incredibly heavy as of right now.
The door opened and All Might in his skinny form and a tall man with short black hair and somewhat rectangular looking eyes. Closing the door discretely and seeing Izuku was already awake they greeted him.
"Young Kage good morning I apologize for intruding on you at this hour, but my colleague and friend here told me this topic was of utmost importance." All Might explained.
"Not it's fine All Might I understand I'm the one who interacted the most with them so it's only natural that I have the most information."
"Hello, I'm detective Tsukauchi and like All Might said we apologize for the intrusion but with the formalities out of the way I believe it is best we get on to the important details about the villains that attacked USJ." Tsukauchi explained.
"Ok but before we proceed, I have a question for All Might." Izuku said.
"Yes, Young Kage what is it?"
"How come this man knows about your secret?" Izuku asked.
"Ah a good question indeed Young Kage but do not worry detective Tsukauchi here is a good friend of mine who has proven many times over that he is a friend of the law. So, don't worry about sharing private information with him he's here to help." All Might exclaimed to Izuku
"Alright then sorry about that it's just that with villains getting that information we don't know what tactics they could've used." Izuku said.
"That's quite alright Mr. Kage do not fret my quirk would be a clear indicator of whether or not I was an impostor or not."
"Your quirk?"
"Yes, my quirk is a lie detector that can tell if a person is lying or not."
A lie detecting quirk? I've been trained strenuously to lie perfectly without giving away any signs of lying even controlling my heartbeat. But if they catch me lying like this it will cast doubt on the persona I've been playing up until now. No, it's not worth the risk. I'll just tell them the truth.
"So, Mr. Kage from what we've examined so far all the villains we've captured so far have just been small time hired for the mission we haven't captured anyone with knowledge about the operation or the location of their headquarters." Tsukauchi explained.
"Yes, I'm guessing that's deliberate. Considering that those villains were bested by first week hero course students I'm guessing they considered they were most likely going to be captured which is why none of them have any information. But it's fine because I met the leaders of the operation which is why you guys came to me in the first place." Izuku exclaimed.
"Yes, so what information do you have about the villains."
There were three figures of significance there. The first one being the Noumu that I fought a weapon designed to kill All Might. The second was who I assumed to be their second in command a man by the name of Kurogiri. His appearance was that of a suit and a warp body which is what his quirk was he's able to warp anything through the black and purple portal he created in his body. And their supposed leader was a man by the name of Tomura Shigaraki. His quirk is called decay and he had the ability to decay you completely until you were nothing if he touched you with five fingertips. I'm sure you saw Aizawa sensei to see its capabilities." Izuku explained all this information to them.
"Why do you say supposed leader Mr. Kage?" Tsukauchi asked.
Perceptive as expected from a detective.
"I say supposed because his demeanor wasn't like that of someone who would've planned this operation out. He sounded like a child somewhat and used phrases like cheater and bosses as if he was playing a video game. My guess is he followed someone else's instructions and was just acting like the leader."
"And do you have any idea who the real leader might be?" Tsukauchi asked.
"Whoever they are they know what All Might's quirk is and were prepared for three pro heroes who teach at UA, nonetheless. All I can say with certainty is that they're powerful." Izuku said.
"Thank you now one last question before I go. We captured the Noumu and found that it was completely harmless do you why that is?"
"Yes actually, the Noumu was designed only to listen to Shigaraki's orders which is why I suspected him as the leader."
"And you said he was specifically made to fight All Might? What were the Noumu's quirks exactly?"
"Super strength and speed, hyper regeneration, and shock absorption."
"All great counters to One for All." All Might said.
"Thank you for this information Mr. Kage I believe it is best we let you rest for now I'm sure that experience was incredibly harrowing on all of you but mostly you. Goodbye and rest well Mr. Kage." Tsukauchi said before opening the door and exiting.
"I'll talk to you later at school Young Kage." All Might said before leaving as well.
Considering the extent of my injuries I should be in here a full week when school decides to start up again. If that's the case, then it's time to train.
Through the next week Izuku decided to train his body and see if any improvements were made on his capabilities. To his surprise he found that he was now able to use 55% of One for All without stressing his body. He also tried to find ways to battle against villains with shock absorption or nullification in the future considering Noumu was bioengineered.
My sword is capable enough of handling enemies who can counter One for All but the reason I had issues in the first place was because of hyper regeneration so what could… father! Of course, fire carbonized cells can't regenerate and high degrees of heat slows down regeneration but how do I create heat without a fire or heating quirk? Heat is generated through tension like when you snap a paperclip from bending it at fast speeds the metal gets hotter because its particles move at a much faster rate. But am I fast enough to speed up the particles in the air to the point of ignition? With One for All maybe I am but I won't know until I try.
Izuku activated One for All on his left hand at 55% charging it up and gradually started to move his hand through the open air in the room. Eventually he moved faster and faster until he felt the area his hand was increasing in temperature.
Now to conduct the heat with something to start the fire.
He quickly activated One for All in his right hand and quickly waved through the area he was moving his hand in. He looked at his right hand to find that it was on fire! It went out after a few seconds as it was weak, and his hand was somewhat seared which healed immediately thanks to his regeneration, but it was a start.
It was weak and the fire didn't last long but it's a start but I won't sustain this without better gear I'll send my father notes about what I need probably gloves that have oil on it to keep the fire going but if I can deliver punches at fast speeds with One for All then I can at least slow down enemies with regeneration.
Izuku trained this skill for the rest of the week until it was time to go back to UA.
When Izuku arrived through the door at class 1-A he was immediately bombarded with cheers and a tight hug from Uraraka. Everyone was immediately surrounding him and bombarding him with questions but the only one he heard clearly was from Uraraka.
"Are you ok Izuku? Uraraka asked with concern.
"Yeah don't worry about me look I'm completely fine plus you can feel that nothing's wrong can't you?" Izuku asked with a smirk on his face.
Seeing just how tightly she was holding him she immediately leapt back with a huge blush on her face. Most of the class recognizing the joke started giggling at her to which she ran back to her desk in embarrassment.
"Ooooo looks like Kage knows you have a little crush on him Uraraka!" Mina said while laughing.
"NO it was just out of concern alright!" she said while covering her face with her arms.
It was just concern right?
After that was all said and done everyone got to their seats when Kirishima asked the question on everyone's mind.
"Uhh so, who's gonna be our teacher while Aizawa sensei is out right now?"
"I'm sure whoever it is will be a fine substitute as it is imperative that Aizawa sensei gets his rest after sacrificing himself for us. And it is OUR DUTY to be the best students we can be in thanks to him!" Iida said now standing up somehow only to look on in shock when the door opened and Aizawa sensei entered through the door looking like a mummy.
"AIZAWA SENSEI!" the entire class yelled out in shock upon seeing him.
"Aizawa sensei shouldn't you be getting some rest?!" a majority of the class was asking him.
"No. I'm fine it's irrational of me to be resting like this when I know you need to be learning especially after the encounter you had with those villains." Aizawa said somewhat muffled from all the bandages.
"Now it's time for a very important announcement." Aizawa said with a serious tone.
WHAT HORRORS AWAIT US NOW! Most people were thinking.
"The UA Sports Festival is coming up soon. Aizawa said now in a monotone voice.
"A NORMAL SCHOOL EVENT!" Everyone cheered.
"But, sensei don't you think it's dangerous to hold a school event right after the school was just attacked by villains?" Iida asked raising his hand.
"First of all, they were only able to attack at an off-campus sight. Second of all if we don't have this event that would just be sending a message to the villains that their attack was successful in lowering our morale and raising our fear. Here at UA we set the precipice for what the top of the hero world should be if we were to show fear to the rest of the world that would only be giving those villains power they don't deserve. Don't worry principal Nezu has made precautions for that exact situation and has beefed up security 10 times more than what it usually is."
"I see thank you for the explanation sensei." Iida replied.
"Uhhh what's this UA Sports Festival? Is it totally big?" Mineta asked.
"The UA Sports Festival is the biggest sporting event in all of Japan it basically replaced the Olympics as the annual sporting event each year and it also provides a chance for overachieving students to show off their talent to the rest of the world." Izuku explained.
I should know I've watched it every year to analyze the top-ranking students in each class if they ever appeared to be someone who shouldn't be a hero in the first place.
"Yes, Kage's explanation is correct the ever since the beginning of quirks the Olympics popularity has fallen drastically as a result, the UA Sports Festival has taken over as the international event to watch every year. I should also mention that after the Sports Festival your hero internships are due to begin so if you perform well at the Sports Festival you should be looking at many offers some of which might be prestigious heroes you could learn a lot from." Aizawa explained to the class.
"Alright that was all I had to tell you about the Sports Festival but lastly know that it starts in a week so use that week to prepare yourself however you need to. Ok class dismissed."
After this announcement the whole class was buzzing with excitement about the Sports Festival and the potential internships that came with it. Bakugo first to exit the classroom opened it only to find a crowd of students from other classes gathered around class 1-A.
"Huh? What's going on here?" Kirishima asked confused.
"The Sports Festival. They're here to scout out the competition." Bakugo said with confirmation in his tone.
"SO WHAT DO YOU EXTRAS WANT?! GET OUT OF MY WAY!" Bakugo then yelled.
"BAKUGO THAT KIND OF BEHAVIOR IS ABSOLUTELY INTOLDERABLE!" Iida yelled waving his arms while a bunch of other students were waving their arms trying to signal that they weren't like him.
"So, this is class 1-A? Doesn't seem like much to me." A guy with crazy purple hair and baggy eyes said so that the whole class could hear him.
They all stopped panicking and just started to stare at the guy with crazy purple hair trying to process what he had just said.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" Bakugo laughed with delight.
"Why should I listen to anything an extra says? As far as I'm concerned, I shouldn't be I'm only looking towards the top. And none of you compare to the monsters I've already seen. That's why I don't have time for small fry like you." Bakugo said to his face.
"Then consider this a declaration of war. I'm coming for you class 1-A." The purple haired guy said before walking off.
"Tch. OUTTA MY WAY EXTRAS!" Bakugo yelled before walking off.
Always making enemies for himself. You'd be a terrible assassin Bakugo. Still you're improving I'll give you that.
Izuku readied his things before approaching Uraraka and Iida who were looked exhausted trying to defend the class and reprimand Bakugo at the same time.
"Hey guys ready for lunch?" Izuku asked.
At the sound of lunch, they both immediately perked up and said, "Let's go!"
While walking to the cafeteria Iida decided to ask Izuku and Uraraka why they wanted to be heroes.
"Why I want to be a hero huh? Well I just want the people to know that there's nothing to fear so that the people will always feel protected no matter where they are! You know All Might isn't going to be around forever, so I'll be there when he's gone."
"Woooooooow" They both said in awe at Izuku.
It's not far from the truth but it will take much more than being the number one hero.
"How about you Uraraka? Why do you want to be a hero?
"Well… ahaha my reason isn't nearly as noble as your guy's most likely."
"Why what is it?"
"I really want to be a hero for uhhh money."
"Money really? Well I suppose there's nothing wrong with trying to make an honest living for yourself." Iida said to her.
Money? No Uraraka seems like much too caring of a girl to only care about money I would expect someone like Bakugo to care about money only after his pride of course.
"No! You see my parents own this construction company and they haven't been doing so good recently. I wanted to help them with my quirk, but they told me to just focus on school instead so I'm becoming a hero to help them with their financial troubles." Uraraka explained.
"I see now Uraraka! Don't worry about thinking that's not a noble reason to be a hero I know just how important my family is if it weren't for my big brother, I would've never wanted to become a hero in the first place!" Iida told her.
"Yeah Uraraka family's important I pretty much owe everything to my dad. I'm sure people would understand if you just explained that you need to support your family as most people would understand the burden you placed on yourself so don't sweat it! We won't think any differently of you because of this." Izuku assured her.
"Oh wow thanks for understanding guys I don't know what to say." Uraraka told them gratefully.
"By the way-" Izuku began before they were interrupted.
"AHA YOUNG KAGE JUST THE MAN I WANTED TO SEE!" All Might said holding up a bento. "Lunch?"
"OMG THAT IS SO CUUUUTE!" Uraraka exclaimed before telling Izuku it was alright.
Izuku and All Might entered his office before All Might deflated back to his normal form.
"Phew it's getting harder every day to maintain this form. Imagine if I had to fight the Noumu at USJ my time limit would probably shorter than what it already is." All Might said before sitting down on the couch.
"And what is your time limit right now All Might?" Izuku asked.
"Right now, it's about 2 hours and a half and it's decreasing every day. Which is why I needed to talk to you Young Kage." All Might told him.
"What do you need to talk too me about All Might?"
"Well there's the Sports Festival but the first thing I need to talk to you about is how One for All came to be."
"How One for All came to be how it was created?" Izuku asked.
"Yes, it's time you learn you learn about the origins and the two people connected to it."
Perfect.
(AN: If you're reading this, I'm going to assume you know about all of this so instead of just repeating it I'm going to skip through the origin story.)
So, my assumptions about its origins were correct after all One for All was created by All for One and has been passed down nine generations beginning with his brother, I have all the info I need for father.
"So, Young Kage I must tell you in the future even near future you may have to fight this powerful foe on your own do you think you'll be able to find that strength before I'm gone?" All Might asked him.
"Of course, All Might whatever it takes." Izuku responded.
"Good and that's why I wanted to talk to you about the Sports Festival. It's no secret that the Sports Festival is the biggest event of the year with hundreds of millions of people watching from all around the world." All Might stated.
"Is that why you're telling me about finding strength before you're gone?" Izuku asked.
"That's right Young Kage truth is I don't know how much time I have left before One for All leaves me. And when I'm gone the symbol people have looked up to for years will be gone and villains will surely take that opportunity. So, I have to ask you Young Kage at this year's Sports Festival I want you to tell the world that I AM HERE!" All Might said transforming back to his buff state to say that.
"Don't worry All Might in a week the world will know that I am here. I'll made sure of that."
And soon the world will know that evil won't survive as long as I'm the symbol.
A month-long wait and it's all dialogue yeah I suck I get it. But the UA Sports Festival is around the corner and some new developments are happening with Izuku! Gotta be honest I have no idea if my science is accurate but hey it's anime and a fanfic superpowers exist so why not :D Seriously though I'll try to be more consistent with uploads because I got a lot of followers and if you guys enjoy it that should be enough motivation to keep pushing and moving forward.
