Chapter 11
Harry's room
It had been two weeks since my meltdown. Quiddich practice was great and I can't wait for my first match. Every day between seven and 9 o'clock. I would go and just talk to dad. I walked down to his office and knocked on the door opening it. Sat on the sofa was professor Black and professor lupin and dad was in his chair. I was confused "Oh! Sorry, ill come back later Professor Snape."
Dad walked over to me closing the door before I could leave. "come sit down harry." he said hugging me.
I gulped "Have I done something wrong? I am sorry."
Dad chuckled "no come sit I will explain." we sat in his chair together. I sat on his lap like we do every night now. "So where to begin."
I was even more confused.
"For the last couple of weeks, well ever since you came to Hogwarts. These two men have wanted to meet their godson."
I looked at dad even more confused. "Godson? Who is their godson and how do I help?"
The three men started chuckling. "harry you are the godson" professor black said.
I stared.
"I was James's best friend and I was also your mom's, she was like a little sister to me. I soon became close to your Dad. They were our family harry. When you were born I and professor lupin were asked to be your godfather's."
I looked between the two men.
"We just want to get to know you harry and for you to get to know us," said professor lupin. "You can ask us anything you want."
I lent it to my dad looking up at him. He looked back. Our eyes meeting, I searched his eyes for any lies.
Not finding anything I sucked in a breath. "Okay. What are your names? I asked. Both men smiled
"I am Sirius Black"
"and I am Remus Lupin"
I smiled "What is your favorite colour?"
"red!" they both said together.
"What things do you do in your spare time?"
"I like to practice defense, I like riding my broom and playing Quidditch," Sirius said. "I'm also a part-time aurora."
"I read a lot, I like teaching and I love going for long runs" He smiled " I also have a very unhealthy obsession with chocolate!"
I giggled. Thinking for a moment." why couldn't you take me?"
The room went silent as all three men looked at me "We wanted to harry" Sirius began softly. "all three of us wanted you to be with us… but… it wasn't our choice. If we had it our way you would have never been in this situation." the two men were now in front of me kneeling on the floor tears in their eyes.
I placed my hands on each men's shoulders. "I'm starting to believe that" I could feel my dad smiling behind me.
We talked for a while about silly things just getting to know each other I think I like my godfathers. They left just before eight with a promise I would come see them.
I just lay on my dad listening to him breathe and rub my arm softly. "Dad, can we go to your quarters tonight?" Dad had invited me to his quarters the same day as my break down but I decline.
"Yes harry we can go to our quarters"
I jumped off Dad's lap he took my hand and lead me behind his desk and lead me through the door.
Dad's quarters were a lot like his office. Green black silver color spread through the room. Black sofa's next to huge fire a place. Potions and tomes. Everything a potion master would want or need. I thought we sit down but he leads me through a door into a hallway. We stopped at a door. He pushed it open.
The room was huge. A mixture of red and greens dancing around the room. The carpet black and fluffy. The kind you could lie on or day. All kinds of toys magical and muggle. Photo's of my mom and dad. A four-poster bed in the corner. In front of it was a Lilly white trunk. That looked like the one in the Dursley loft.
"Harry this is your room," Dad said softly.
I stood at the door staring in. Was he lying? No dad doesn't lie. My legs started walking on their own. "My room?" dad nodded smiling as he watched me I ran my hands over the toys the furniture the walls. I felt the carpet in the fingers. then the trunk. The trunk that was calling to me the most. I sat in front of the trunk. "Why the trunk?" I looked around towards Dad but he was already next to me.
Dad rubbed my back. "Because harry, it's was your mom's. I haven't looked in because it was left for you."
I just ran my fingers softly along the lid, getting to know the trunk. I could almost feel her. I ran my finger over the lock with a little Gryffindor symbol on it. The lock magical unlocked with my touch. I pulled my finger back to my chest. Mainly because it made me jump. I looked at Dad wide-eyed. His expression just the same as mine. I lifted the lid.
The trunk was filled with letters, books, diaries, certificates, medals, photos, her wedding ring, and her wand. The last two items were never found when she had died.
I picked up the top letter. "dad…this has your name on it…"
Dad took the letter of me pulling me closer to him as he did. He opened it holding it so we could see it.
My Severus,
I want to start by saying, I love you and I miss you. I can feel something coming.
Something that will test your fathering skills.
Last night I had a dream about harry. If I am correct you have only just met our son.
I know this letter will not reach you in time so I will tell you all I know
Harry will endure things he should never have had to endure. I can't do anything to stop it. All I can do is write these letters. I don't know where he will end up but he will meet you again. I hope you both love each other to the end of time as I love you both. don't be just a house, be a home.
I know at times it will be hard. But I know you are more than capable of this and you have done amazing things and you have proven it time and time again.
Remember to be his dad but you also need to be his mom to Sev. I know you can do it. So every time you think you can't I want you to read this letter.
Also, let our friends help you. No one said you had to do it alone.
The bravery we have been through together will keep you both going and growing.
Hug Harry extra tight for me.
I love you.
Always
Your Lillyflower
I hugged into dad he held me tighter. I could feel him crying. It had to be hard for him.
I pulled out my mom's wedding ring and wand. "dad I think you should have these."
he shook his head, blinking the tears away "I would only give them back. When I and my mom talked about the future, she always said she would pass her wedding ring to her child. To make an heirloom."
I placed them on the letters and closed the lid. "We could read one every day together."
Dad smiled. "I would like that."
