While Beverly was laid up, Penny would help her plan the wedding. It was going to be small, but it gave Beverly something to do. They decided that the ceremony and reception would be in the back yard. Every now and then Alfred would be called in if Beverly wasn't sure about something. Three months after her surgery, Beverly's hip was healed and she felt comfortable walking unaided. Two weeks later was Alfred and Beverly's wedding.

"Come in," Beverly yelled when she heard a knock on her bedroom door.

"Wow! You look amazing," Leonard said when he saw his mother in her wedding dress.

Beverly smiled at her son, "thank you."

"Are you ready?"

"Yeah," Beverly took her son's arm and the two went to meet her groom.

After the reception, Alfred carried Beverly over the threshold. "You are just so beautiful. You look incredible in that dress."

"Thank you," she replied with a smile, "you look quite handsome yourself."

"Are you up for a traditional wedding night?"

"Are you kidding? Why do you think I worked so damn hard in physical therapy?"

The next morning, Alfred whisked Beverly away to Fiji for their honeymoon.

"Are you ready?" Beverly asked when she walked out of the bathroom of their hotel suite.

Alfred turned and his jaw dropped, "I don't know. Seeing you in that bikini makes me kind of want to stay in."

Beverly smiled, "well, we are on our honeymoon."

The two didn't make it to the beach until after lunch. The week they were in Fiji was wonderful. However, they were looking forward to going home to see their family and await the arrival of their next grandchild.

Beverly and Alfred's flight got in late so they told Leonard that they would take a cab home. When they walked into their suite everything felt different. It was a new beginning and that excited the couple.

"Honey, what would you like me to do with the luggage?"

"Just leave it out here. I can go through it tomorrow."

The couple got ready for bed, but once they got into bed they had other plans.

"That new hip of yours is giving you an advantage," Alfred said out of breath.

Beverly laughed and the couple fell asleep in each other's arms.

The next morning Beverly woke up before Alfred. She got ready for the day and went out to the living room to deal with the luggage. She felt a bit stiff, but that didn't worry her. The replacement wasn't a cure for her arthritis and she had been quite a bit more active over the past week. Alfred found his wife sitting on the floor going through the luggage.

"Morning," he bent over and gave her a kiss on her head.

"Morning, are you hungry?"

"I've got it," he said, "any requests?"

"Whatever you make will be fine. Oh, could you bring me a clothes basket, please? I forgot to grab one."

"Sure," Alfred grabbed a laundry basket and took it to where his wife was.

"Thank you," Beverly placed the clothes in the basket, "honey, I hate to bother you again but I might need a hand up."

"You're not bothering me," Alfred walked over and took his wife's hands before pulling her up, "are you alright?" he asked when he noticed her wince.

"Yeah, just a bit stiff. The doctor said this would still happen."

"Why don't I do the laundry?"

"I can do it, but I appreciate the offer." Beverly lifted the basket and took it to the laundry room. After loading up the washer and starting it, Beverly felt tired. She slowly and carefully made her way back to her suite.

"Are you sure you're alright?" Alfred asked when he saw how his wife was walking.

"A hip replacement isn't a cure for arthritis. I should probably take it easy today."

"Honey, take it easy as long as you need to. Now, why don't you go back to bed and we'll have breakfast there?"

"Okay," she smiled and kissed her husband.

Once breakfast was ready, Alfred took two trays into the bedroom with food. "I'll take care of the dishes," Alfred said once they had finished. "Do you need anything before I go?"

"No, I should be fine."

"Are you sure?"

Beverly smiled at her husband, "if it will make you feel better then you can get my cane."

"Hey, whatever you need," Alfred said before getting his wife's cane and placing it against her nightstand. Beverly smiled at the knowledge that her husband was determined to care for her and do whatever he could to make her life easier.

Four months later, Penny and Leonard welcomed their second child. A daughter named Valentina Alfreda Hofstadter.

"How did you two come up with 'Valentina'?" Alfred asked at the hospital.

"We actually didn't have the first name," Leonard answered, "but we decided because of the day she was born on. We know her name doesn't mean 'love' but it's similar."

Alfred looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Beverly noticed the look on her husband's face, "is there a problem Alfred?"

"No, I have what I need for today. I just didn't realize that today was today and so I have to get what I have ready."

Beverly laughed at her nervous husband. "It's alright, besides we're babysitting anyway."

That night when Leonard got home he relieved his parents for the night. Once they were alone, Alfred took a long black velvet box and handed it to his wife, "Happy Valentine's day!"

Beverly smiled and opened the box to reveal a bracelet to match her engagement ring, "it's beautiful," Beverly kissed her husband and thanked him. He surprised her again when he handed her a larger black velvet box. Beverly opened it and saw a necklace and set of earrings to match her bracelet and ring. "Alfred, this is all too much."

"Nothing is too much for you," he said before kissing her.

"Thank you, I love them. I feel bad because I only got you one thing."

"Don't feel bad," Alfred smiled at her. Beverly handed her husband his gift. It was a really nice and expensive watch. "This is sharp," he said, "I love it," he kissed his wife. The two headed off to bed. Alfred was in bed before Beverly.

"You have one more gift to open," Beverly said when she came out of the bathroom.

Alfred turned and saw his wife in red and pink lace lingerie. "Then you better get over here so I can unwrap it." That was the best Valentine's day that Alfred and Beverly had ever had.
