Leviano "Levi" Marbello

District 9, Male, 16

"Leviano Marbello!" The man in the sequin-covered suit shouted. The boy was easily spotted amongst the group of 16-year-old males, he stood at a height of 5'11 and a puzzled expression had developed on his cream-skinned face. When he looked directly at the screens above the stage and saw his face shining back at him, the puzzled look formed into a smile of pride.

The thoughts of fame rushed through his mind, he was going to be in the spotlight, not his manipulate, narcissistic brother. It was his time. His head was held high as he walked up the stairs and took a stand next to the escort, he scanned the 18-year-old males until he laid eyes with his brother and mouthed the word jódete.

Any other time and his mother would've slapped him hard across the face, but this time was different, his mother had no control over him anymore and once he became a victor, she would be begging for his company, not praising his brother. He barely even noticed as the female tribute walked up to the stage after their name was called.

He took a look at them as they attempted a smile and waved at the crowd, they were Asian and had long black, wavy hair that reached mid-torso. They were very pale and wore a plaid shirt and jeans. He remembered them from school as identifying as gender-fluid. He was spun around by the escort and told to shake hands with them, after a small round of applause, they were taken inside the Justice Building.

It wasn't as grand as the outside was, the paint was peeling off and the lights were slightly dim, although, he couldn't say it was bad. In fact, compared to any other building he had stepped foot in, this seemed like a palace.

"Woah." He heard Devon say and he nodded in agreement.

"Meh, it needs a lot of work." The escort shrugs, wafting his nose before taking me by the hand and pulling me along into a corridor. "This is your room, have fun!" He squeals before pushing me in and shutting the door behind me. There is a 2-pillow satin sofa and a couple of bookshelves but besides that, it's just an empty room with yellow-painted walls.

He took a seat directly in the middle of the sofa and smiled to himself, he was going to be a victor. It had never become apparent to him before that he wanted this, but it was all so much clearer now that he was so close to it. If he was a victor, everyone would love him, and he would always be in the spotlight! Why didn't he just volunteer before!?

Before he could think about it any longer, his mother burst in through the door and grabbed his face in her hands. "Are you okay? Oh, my baby!" She cried, squeezing his cheeks as he struggled free.

"So, now you want to give me attention? Now that I'm going to be famous?" He screamed at her and pushed her away to reveal his cousin, Xorella standing behind her. Xorella and he had always had some sort of understanding, that's more than he could say for the rest of his horrible family.

"No, no, why do you never listen?" She cried, screaming back at him. "Why did I even come? It's always the same with you like the world is out to get you! I knew your father was right when he said 1 kid was enough." She smacked him hard across the face and stormed out of the room without another word.

"You could've been nicer to her, she just wanted to say goodbye." Xorella said, taking a seat next to him.

"Whatever, just shut up." He murmured, deep down, he knew he cared and wished his mother would come back so he could squeeze her tight, but the anger inside always got the better of him and now wasn't any different.

"Do you think you can do it, Levi?" She whispered softly, and yet this was the first he had really thought about it. The odds of him winning was 1:24, and 6 of those people were likely to be trained careers and some of them would even be bigger than him.

"'Course I can!" He snapped at her. "Soon you'll all be begging to live in Victor's Village with me!" He cried and pushed away her arm that lay on his leg. "You're no different from any of them! Take her away!" He screamed louder than ever, and tears were streaming down his face. Why was he crying? He was stronger than this!

"Time is up!" Shouts a hoarse voice from behind the door and Xorella ran out, hurt gleaming in her eyes. Good, he didn't need any distractions.

Ani Sencen

District 7, Female, 17

Her fingers were tightly crossed as the escort plucked the male's name from the reaping bowl, any boy could be picked, and she wouldn't care, any boy but her 13-year-old brother, that is. He hadn't taken out any tesserae and had only 2 slips in there. 2 slips out of the thousands. She kept telling herself that the odds were on their side.

The escort read the name and smiled before announcing in the microphone, "Cailis Heatherburn." There was no reaction from many people in the crowd and it was hard for the cameramen to spot the tribute, they had a face full of shock, but they managed to get back into reality and walked up to the stage. All she could think was, at least it wasn't Elam.

Now all she had to worry about was herself and her best friend, Arabella – who was more like a sister to her. The escort's satin glove dived back into the glass bowl and plucked another slip, she took a deep as the escort read out the name, "Mairelise Wishart!"

Oh no, this wasn't good. Mairelise was Arabella's sister and was the sweetest little 12-year-old girl, she was also like a sister to Ani. She knew what would happen next, Arabella would volunteer for her, but she couldn't let that happen.

"I volunteer!" She shrieked as Mairelise hobbled up to the stage sobbing. She ran over to her and crouched down to level with her. "You go back to Arabella and Elam, okay? It's gonna be okay." What was she telling her? Of course, it wasn't going to be okay, she couldn't win!

Mairelise was grabbed by peacekeepers and taken back to the pen of 12-year-olds, screaming my name until her voice couldn't handle anymore. She took her place next to the escort and spoke, "My name is Ani Sencen."

"Well, that was fun!" The escort giggled. "Here are this year's tributes for District 7!" Nobody clapped, they stared at them with sorrow in their eyes, some even gave Ani a nod of acknowledgment for doing what she had done, volunteering to die was hard.

She was taken into the Justice Building, tears welled in her eyes. "That was a brave thing to do." Said the male tribute, Cailis. She nodded at them and they smiled back. "I'm Cailis, by the way, and I'm not male, I go by they/them." She felt slightly guilty for using he and him all the times she had seen them around the school, they had a couple of classes together as they were both 17.

"Ani, my name is Ani." They shook hands before the escort butted in.

"And I'm Melinda! I can't wait to show you off to the Capitol darling, you're just divine!" She cried in her strange little accent as she pinched her cheeks, she managed to wiggle free. "Anyway, your goodbye room is that one." She said and pointed toward a plain white door, Ani smiled thank you and went through the door.

The room wasn't too grand, but it was still luxury, the sofa was bouncy and spotless, and the paint had been given a clean coat not too long ago. She stood in front of the sofa, not feeling like sitting down, timidly waiting for her family to arrive. She didn't expect her grandmother to come, she had never showed much interest in Ani besides being forced to provide her shelter after her and Elam's parents died.

She didn't consider her grandmother as family. Her family was Arabella, Mairelise, and Elam, they were the 3 people that she was going to win this for. She hoped they would hurry up and come in.

It was only around 5 minutes after that thought that they burst in through the door, Mairelise was no longer crying but instead was in Arabella's arms with her face nestled in her shoulder. "Oh, Ani. Why?" Was the first thing Arabella said before pulling me into a tight hug. "You should've let me do it." She whispered in her ear, careful not to upset Mairelise.

"It's okay, I did it now, there's no going back." She said pulling Elam into the hug between the four of them. "I'll make it out for you guys, I promise, I can, and I will." They stayed in the hug before the Peacekeeper came to tell them time was up. When they took their faces out, everyone was crying, a silent cry but an emotional one.

"I love you all." She murmured as they left the room.

A/N: And we meet 2 more tributes! I'm planning to get everyone introduced by Training Day 2, that way everyone has at lease 1 POV before the games but most will have 2. I'm really loving writing this!
