Chapter 11

Messages From

On High

Disclaimer: To be honest, I was inspired by a Nickelback music video for this one.

"Hey General, you have a minute?" Asked Pietro as he came into Hawk's office at the Pit with a small stack of colored pieces of paper in one of his hands.

Hawk looked up at him and briefly wondered what headache he was about to have now but figured it might be worth avoiding paperwork for a bit. "Kid, if it happens to take fifteen minutes I'll gladly listen."

Especially to avoid more paperwork and the Mutant Speedster couldn't help but grin at the man's well known dislike of paperwork. Quickly, Pietro sat down in the chair on the other side of Hawk's desk and placed down the small stack of colored pieces of paper on the desk. Making Hawk raise his eyebrows at them and Pietro. "And this is what, exactly?"

"Oh, just little messages I put on each one of those. Go on, take a look!" The teenager encouraged him.

"Alright, why not." Sighed Hawk and began to look at them and realized they all seemed to have a common theme.

"Huh… 'Mutants Are Human too', 'Mutants Are Awesome', 'Its Okay To Have Mutants In The Family'. This sounds like some kind of attempt at Public Relations, Pietro."

He got an enthusiastic nod of the head from the kid. "That's because it pretty much is, Sir. One I was hoping you'd let me and a few of the others spread around in a big city without anyone realizing its us."

"And how would you pull that off?"

"Doing it on top of very tall buildings of course!" Pietro told him eagerly.

Having put quite a bit of thought into the idea when he'd been working on it. "Kid… I dunno about this as it could backfire."

"Or it could totally work in our favor and improve things! Even if its only a little!"

Sure, he'd have never done this back in the Brotherhood days but now Pietro hadn't a problem with it. Besides, it'd probably his dear old father if he found out his involvement. Which he wouldn't considering he wouldn't get caught on the news! "Besides, General, do ya really want to let hours of work and about fifteen to twenty bags worth of these go to waste?" Pietro asked of him with a small but pleased smirk on his lips.

"Fifteen to twenty bags?" Asked the man somewhat resignedly.

"And hours, days and nights really, of work!" Replied the young man enthusiastically.

Freetime and occasional lack of sleep helped out fantastically in his view! Hawk groaned but reasoned ot himself that at least the kid was doing something constructive with his time instead of destructive! Even saying as much. "Alright, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try this. Just make sure you and whoever you get involved DON'T get caught."

"Alright! You the man, General!" Whooped Pietro happily and sped off with the small stack back in hand.

The General sighed as this meant he was now forced to return to his paperwork. "Ugh."

Sometime Later

"Earlier this evening, Detroit, Michigan was the site of an attempt at promoting peaceful relations between Humans and Mutants by way of thousands of small colored pieces of paper with various sayings on them that fell from the sky. No one knows who is behind it and how they managed to pull it off as well as they did but Authorities are looking into it and are being said to have already approached the X-Men in Bayville, New York over the whole affair. Many in Detroit are split down the middle between support of the event and being against it and some are wondering if this will happen again. This is Ted Gradman of Detroit Picture News."

"Oh, I bet they just loved being asked about that." Fred said with a chuckle to the others at Misfit Manor, causing them to chuckle as well.

"Do you have intentions to do this again, Pietro?" Wondered Xi curiously towards the Mutant Speedster.

Earning himself a big grin in the process. "Oh, you bet I am, Xi!"

"Good to know even you have a good idea every now and then." Quipped Wanda much to her brother's consternation!

"Wanda!"

She smirked at his dismayed reaction as the others laughed. "I've gotta say, Hawk let you make quite the day, kid." Threw in Roadblock.

"Thanks, Roadblock!"

Yeah, he was definitely doing something like that again in the future!
