Tim stood against the door bored when a scientist with spilt coffee down his lab coat came running towards him hastily

"open the door!" he shrieked

"what's up" he growled

"The subject...He's got Diane by the throat, with a blade!"

Tim went to grab his radio

"NO" the scientist shouted "he said if you call for assistance he's going to kill her! Trust me...he CAN hear us"

Tim stopped, he didn't want to risk Diane.

"alright" he quickly agreed "me and you are going to go in there to diffuse this situation"

"me!" the scientist stuttered

"yes" Tim growled as he swiped his pass and raised his baton "I need some sort of back up"

As the door opened Jacob suddenly pushed through forward with a small blade held close to Diana's throat

"back off" he growled quietly

"easy now" Tim replied as he backed up slowly with his baton held high "don't do anything stupid, there's no way you're going to get out of this, just head back into your cell and we'll forget this happened..."

"throw your weapon, communication device and card on the floor and get in the cell" Jacob seethed

Tim tried again

"look...there's no"

"NOW!" Jacob interrupted as he pushed the small blade into Diane's neck, causing a small amount of blood to run

"Please" Diane whimpered "Tim, please. I don't want to die like my son..."

Tim suddenly dropped his weapon and key card then held his hands up

"okay, okay...just don't hurt her, we'll do what you say"

Tim and the scientist shuffled slowly into the cell and turned

"Can she join us?" Tim asked

"No" Jacob growled, he then kicked the button and the doors slid shut.

He Immediately released Diane and picked the items the guard had dropped up from the floor

"I'm sorry about the cut...it's only shallow" he said hastily as Diane wiped her neck

"don't be, I told you to make it look convincing...for both our sakes"

Jacob stood and pressed the buttons on the electric baton to become acquainted with it, then he turned as Diane passed him the key card, she took his arm and pointed to a door at the bottom of the white corridor

"this card will give you full access through that security door, after you're through head to the fire escape to your left. As soon as you enter through the fire door an alarm will be triggered. You need to head up, not down, do you understand? Security will come in force from below and you will encounter some above. You must get to the roof and get yourself across to the opposite building. It's quite close I think you can manage it" Diane said hastily

She then passed him a small piece of paper. "Head to this address. It's my son's old apartment, I'll meet you there in three days"

Jacob nodded to her and turned to leave but she quickly grabbed his arm

"Be careful, a lot has changed out there..."

"Cheers Diane" Jacob replied as he quickly squeezed her hand and took off in haste down the corridor.

Jacob entered the stairwell and looked down over the banister

"That's a lot of stairs..." he said to himself quietly. He then turned and noticed the small red light flashing above the door. He started to move up the stairs quickly as a camera watched him pass.

In a security room above, the brutish head of security, Simon Fowler, was nursing his broken nose. He turned to the alarm system and looked at the CCTV footage noticing the Assassin quickly making his way upwards

"For fucks SAKE!" he growled angrily as he got to his feet and called for reinforcements

"Subject VAJF.70 has escaped and his making his way up the eastern fire escape! Send all units to the rooftop, I repeat..."

As Simon continued his announcement he noticed the CCTV suddenly cut out, then, a small laughing skull appeared on the screen sporting a crown.

"GET THOSE REINFORCEMENTS UP HERE GODDAMN IT!" Simon screeched into his radio as he left quickly in pursuit.

Jacob was confident he was nearly at the top, he'd just run up ten flights...

"There can't be much more" he said slightly out of breath, he looked up and noticed the stairs were finally coming to an end. As he did so the door below was suddenly thrust open and a group of five security members entered the stairwell and immediately trained their guns on Jacob. The bullets ricocheted off the walls as the Assassin quickly ducked behind the banister and ran for the exit

"NOT LIVE AMMO!" Simon barked as he pushed a gun down "we need him alive, or it'll be my HIDE! Use the stun guns" he growled as he led his team upwards.

Jacob crashed through the door to the roof and suddenly stopped as he quickly took in the bizarre sight before him.

The huge, bright buildings.

Strange, flying machines moving through the sky, with two sitting stationary on a large area to his right

And the noises coming from the busy streets below.

His shock at the strangeness before him was quickly interrupted as his ears caught the commotion coming from the stairwell. He turned quickly just as Simon appeared on the top step, Jacob swung himself using the top of the doorframe and used his forward momentum to deliver a powerful kick to Simon's face, which sent him and the others behind tumbling back down the stairs. He then thrust his shock stick into another guard's throat who had managed to miss the oncoming tumble.

Jacob ran away from the fire escape and heightened his senses to guide him. He could see the other building Diane had mentioned...but it was several floors down.

"Bloody hell, Diane! I can't jump that..."

The fall would easily break his legs. Jacob stopped on the edge and sensed a small platform that had two wires attached to a pulley system

That could work...

Jacob heard the guards closing in again and he ran dangerously along the edge of the building with an air conditioning unit to his left to shield him from the guard's sight. As he moved swiftly along Jacob timed his drop onto the platform, he hit it with a forward roll and got to his feet quickly looking at the small console. He started playing with buttons but nothing happened. Then, he noticed a small recess, he needed a key or something similar

"Bollocks!" he seethed.

Suddenly small darts started to hit the metal by his feet and he pushed himself back against the glass of the building hoping the small overhang above would keep him out of sight. Simon looked down angrily as he tried to get a clear shot

"THERE'S NOWHERE TO GO" he shouted through blooded lips, then grabbed his radio "I need access to the window cleaner lifts NOW! Send them up!"

Suddenly the lift shuddered and started to move upwards

"Shit!" Jacob growled as he started slamming on the buttons, then the lift shuddered to a stop

"HA!" Jacob cheered

"What's going on" Simon cried into his radio "...WHAT?…..WHAT DO U MEAN HACKERS!"

The lift shuddered again and then started to move down on its own. It came adjacent with the opposite building and then came to a stop.

Jacob wasted no time and suddenly launched himself forward, jumping up onto the rail and clearing the gap between the buildings by a hairs breadth. Jacob ran across the building quickly and planned his route down to the street.

Rayna parked the car in a small alleyway and the three Assassin's made their way towards the imposing Abstergo building. Evie immediately zeroed in on the chaos coming from above with her senses, now she had adapted to dismissing all the intense noise with her heightened ability. Kairen then quickly answered his burner phone as it started to ring

"What's happening?" Rayna questioned as she watched Evie's eyes slowly fall to the building opposite the Abstergo headquarters. Kairen looked at Evie after throwing his phone aside

"it's your brother" he started

"He got out..." Evie grinned looking around with her senses. She then spotted his faint form running through an alley that would open up right on top of the main road

"Jacob!" she cried happily as she ran ahead with the others quickly following behind her, but then realised with horror he wasn't slowing his pace...

Jacob quickly emerged from the alley and suddenly ran right into the busy road. He suddenly stopped as his heightened senses were overwhelmed by the noise of a loud horn. He turned to the noise and brought his hand up as his still sensitive eyes were blinded by intense beams of light.

"JACOB!" Evie screamed as she launched herself at him and tackled him roughly out of the path of the large bus.

He swung for her as he lay on his back but she knocked his arm away

"JACOB, STOP! IT'S ME!"

"Evie?" he questioned as he halted his attack "how, when?...I'm sorry, I didn't know it was you" he said as he sat up with his eyes clenched shut

"What's the matter?" Evie asked suddenly holding onto his shoulder

"I can't see..."

Kairen and Rayna joined the twins side once the traffic was clear

"We have to get out of here...now!" Kairen said suddenly noticing the activity coming from towards the grand entrance of the Abstergo building

"Jacob, keep hold of my hand" Evie ordered as she pulled him up and they quickly made their way back towards Rayna's car.
