Stiles could not stop thinking about how Derek had freaked out when he saw all of the Christmas decorations, his mind was racing with all of these thoughts about Derek, the pack, his dad's diet; which Noah had not been sticking to. And then there was the other thing...

'Probably best not to tell Derek about the 'other thing' yet'. Stiles decided as he walked down the stairs, a cardboard box in his arms.

Derek had originally packed up some of the decorations and put them back in the attic, but this did not sit well with Stiles. The Alpha-mate was determined to encourage his sourwolf of a mate to at least try to be enthusiastic about the up coming holiday.

"I put that in the attic" Derek stated when Stiles walked into the living room.

"And I'm putting it back in here" Stiles shrugged and Derek glanced at him.

Derek pretended to ignore the fact that Stiles, somehow managed to carry all of the Christmas decorations back into the living room because he did not want to argue with his mate; but then he noticed that Stiles had actually finished pulling the dark green Christmas tree out of it's large cardboard box. The alpha looked up just as his mate had finished standing the tree up in the corner of the room.

"Time to decorate the tree!" Stiles chirped joyfully but he rolled his eyes when he saw that Derek was trying to ignore him "Come on, sourwolf!" the younger man joked, before he threw some gold tinsel at Derek.

Derek growled when the tinsel landed on his shoulder and he quickly ripped it off of, tossing it onto the floor "No".

"Derek!" Stiles groaned in annoyance as he tilted his head back "I need help decorating the tree".

"It's pointless" Derek grumbled.

"It's not!" Stiles exclaimed, as he picked the tinsel up "It's nearly Christmas and we haven't even put our tree up!"

"We don't need a tree, we don't need to celebrate Christmas. It's a waste of time" Derek said grumpily.

"But I love Christmas, it's a beautiful time of year" Stiles sighed as he swung his arms back and forth at his sides.

"Grow up. Why are you so excited to decorate a tree?!" Derek yelled without realising what he had said, until it was too late.

Stiles happy expression fell and he looked down at the floor "It just means a lot to me" he sighed before he turned around and he put the small star ornament down on the coffee table.

Derek looked up as Stiles walked out of the room, he suddenly felt guilty when he heard their bedroom door shut. He put his book down and he sat up of the sofa "Why did you get upset?" He asked an absent Stiles.

The alpha then stood up and he walked over to the cardboard box that was sat next to the tree, he knelt down and he looked at the writing on it 'Claudia's special decorations' was written in black marker pen. Derek's eyes widened when he remembered that Stiles had told him that the sheriff often worked late on Christmas eve, so Stiles would decorate the tree with his mum and then drink hot chocolate whilst watching his favourite Christmas movie. "He misses his mum" Derek kicked himself at the realization. The alpha then stood up and he walked towards his and his mate's bedroom, "Sti?!" He called as he knocked on the door before he opened it, he poked his head around the corner and he saw that Stiles was curled up on the centre of the bed. Derek walked over and he sat down behind Stiles, he started to rub his mate's arm and he placed something in front of him.

Stiles saw the small star decoration and he hesitantly picked it up, a tear rolled out of his eye and he sniffled before he turned his head and he looked up at Derek.

"I'm sorry for being a Sourwolf. Do you want to go and decorate the tree?" Derek asked in the softest voice that he could use.

Stiles nodded and he sat up, he let a few more tears fall and Derek kissed his forehead, the alpha then gently grabbed his hand.

"Come on then" Derek smiled softly at his mate, before he scooped Stiles up and carried him to the living room. He put his mate down and Stiles looked at him "What colours are we to it to use?"

Stiles looked at the box of his mother's decorations "Red and gold"

"It sounds perfect" Derek wrapped his arm around Stiles.

Stiles was confused at first but he followed Derek towards the boxes of decorations, picking up some tinsel and they began to work together to cover the tree in magnificent red, gold and white ornaments. The couple soon forgot their previous disagreement as they decorated the tree, Stiles had even put some Christmas music on and smiled as Derek took his hand and asked him to dance.

Derek could not help but smile as Stiles laughed whilst they danced, he twirled his mate around a few times before he pulled the younger man close and pressed a loving kiss against his forehead "You're very good at dancing".

"I just feel very comfortable when I'm in your arms" Stiles relaxed as he moved closer to Derek, until he was resting his head against the alpha's firm chest.

"I feel comfortable with you too, even if you give me a heart attack every time you run into danger" Derek chuckled and Stiles laughed.

Stiles suddenly had an idea and he looked up at Derek "Leading on from that... Can we invite the pack over to watch a Christmas movie?"

"Yeah, sounds like a nice idea" Derek nodded.

"I'll call them!" Stiles chirped before he quickly stood on his tiptoes and he kissed Derek, he then ran out of the room in excitement.

Derek sighed fondly as he shook his head, smiling at how excited Stiles was "Hyperactive moron".

Stiles smiled even more when he heard what Derek had said and he held his phone up to his ear. He only had to wait a moment before his call was answered "Lydia, I need you to get everyone here! I'm going to tell him".

"We'll be there in twenty minutes. I'll bring everything!" Lydia chirped .

"Okay. Thanks, Lyds!" Stiles hung up the phone after that and he slowly exhaled "It's showtime".
