Part 9

Kara set down on the balcony of the DEO helping Caitlin to get her balance.

"You ok Caitlin?" asked Kara

"Yeah that was a rush very different from then when Barry has run with me." Said Caitlin

"Supergirl. Dr. Snow welcome to the DEO. This is Agent Alex Danvers." Said J'onn introducing the woman standing next to him.

"Nice to meet you. Supergirl has mentioned you a number of times." Said Caitlin

"She mentioned you as well Dr. Snow. I understand that you agreed to wear a power dampner." Said Alex

"Yes, please call me Caitlin."

Caitlin held out her left arm and watched as a cuff was locked around her wrist. She felt her body temperature raise instantly. She grabbed her hair and smiled when it returned to it's natural auburn color.

"Well it looks like meta tech gives you your natural hair back." Said Kara

"Yeah. I really am not a fan of having white hair." Said Caitlin

Mon-El walked in just then.

"So I hear you might be able to cure me of my lead allergy." Said Mon-El

"Yeah. But I am guessing that the yellow sun has some similar effects on you as they do on Supergirl." Said Caitlin

"If you mean that a needle won't be able to pierce my skin that would be correct." Said Mon-El

"Nothing a little red solar radiation won't help with. Caitlin if you will come with me we can set up my lab. Supergirl will take Mon-El for his red sun treatment." Said Alex

"Come on Mon-El." Said Kara

"Don't worry she will stay outside the room." Said Alex

Caitlin nodded and followed the other woman into a lab. Caitlin was impressed with the equipment in it.

"Wow. This is all state of the art. I thought that stuff we had at Star labs was near top of the line." Said Caitlin

"Well the DEO is a government agency so all this is paid for by the tax payers. They just don't know it."

"Yeah I heard this is a secret clandestine government agency. Reminds me a little of ARGUS."

"So there is an ARGUS on your Earth?" asked Alex

"Yeah."

"Is it run by Amanda Waller?"

"Use to be. She is dead on my Earth. Lyla Michaels is now in charge."

"Hopefully she is better than Waller."

"Waller from what I understand was a cold hearted bitch who put together what she called a suicide squad. A group of harden criminals that would get time off their prison sentence by going on dangerous missions for her. She kept them in line by putting bombs in their heads that she controlled the detonator for."

"I have heard rumors about that here. But nothing proven. So want to tell me how did you find out about what is going on here?"

"How much has your sister told you about Barry?"

"That he is a meta with super speed."

"Well because of the super speed he is able to travel through time. Short version is that a future version of him that turned evil came back in time to kill Barry's girlfriend Iris. When my powers were unleashed I pretended to join him in order to spy on him and hand over information to my friends. This version of Barry called himself Savitar."

"After the Hindu god of motion?"

"Yeah. Well he told me that in order to stop Mon-El's mom was to seed the atmosphere with lead. Which means that Kara has to give up Mon-El. I thought that maybe I could help her keep the man she loves, even if I never get the one I love because he is in love with someone else."

"You are in love with Barry aren't you?" asked Kara from the door.

"Uh no. Why would you think that? There is no way that I would love Barry like that." Said Caitlin

"Caitlin, I know I just met her that once. But you are starting to sound like Felicity." Said Kara

"Fine I admit it. I love Barry. But you can't tell him." Said Caitlin

"Why not? He should know how you feel."

"He loves Iris has for years. Besides it would make things weird between us."

"Caitlin, you won't know until you talk to him."

"There is the small problem of him being in the speed force."

"There has to be a way to get him out."

"I am sure Cisco is working on it. So how long until Mon-El will be able to give me a blood sample?"

"Probably an hour or so."

"Ok"

Joe walked into the cortex of Star labs to see Cisco hard at work trying to figure out what needed to be done to get Barry back.

"Any idea on how we are going to get Barry back Cisco?"

"Well the problem is keeping the speed force prison stable without a speedster in the prison. I really wish that Caitlin was here."

"Well she is not. I haven't spoken or heard from her since I called her to let her know about Barry. She did say that if things got to big for us that you could vibe and come and get her."

"Yeah well she is kinda busy at the moment. She is trying to figure out how to help Kara's boyfriend with his lead allergy before his mother tries to concur Earth-38 because Mon-El is in love with the sworn enemy of Daxim." Said Cisco

"So what you are saying is that Supergirl and this Mon-El guy are like Romeo and Juliet?" asked Wally

"Pretty much."

"And Caitlin is some kind of romantic and wants them to be happy even if she is unlucky in love." Said Joe

"Caitlin is a romantic. She just doesn't talk about it."

"You have known Caitlin a while right Cisco?" asked Wally

"Yeah she was already working here when I started. What do you want to know."

"I know about Ronnie. That she loved him. I also know about the fling she had with Jay before it was revealed he was really Zoom. But what is really going on with her and Barry?" asked Wally

"I am pretty sure Caitlin is in love with Barry. He gets reactions out of her I only saw with Ronnie. But she won't say anything. She won't come between him and Iris." Said Cisco

"Well unfortunately she might not have a choice." Said Jay Garrick walking in.

The group turned to see the Earth-3 doppleganger of Henry Allen walk in.

"What do you mean Jay?" asked Joe

"I just got back from the speed force. I went to see if I could find out a solution to getting Barry back." Said Jay

"What did you find out?" asked Joe

"Barry will remain in the speed force until Caitlin Snow decides that he has paid enough for not only Flashpoint and creating Savitar. But for not being there for her when she really needed it. She has passed her test and on her way to being a hero in her own right. Not that it wasn't important to save Iris's life, because it was. But from the moment that Caitlin revealed her powers to all of you, Barry should have stepped up. Talked with her about her fears. Trained her. Caitlin was very close to ending her own life after the particle accelerator explosion. But then Barry was brought in for her to care for. He saved her life. He talked her down from turning to the darkness that is why she chose to be a spy." Said Jay

"So Caitlin is the key and has no idea." Said Joe

"Yes. It is referred to being a lighting rod. Speedsters need them to stay grounded. We don't get to choose our lighting rod. All I know is a speedster's lighting rod is the one person in their life that will do whatever they have to even give their life to protect their speedster."

Joe and Cisco looked at each other. They both remembered all the times in the past few years that both Barry and Caitlin put their lives on the line for each other.
