Chapter 10

Feelings

Harry's point of view.

"Remind me why I'm doing this again?" I ask Ms. Ruby right after Xavier walked off to sit at the table in the back of the room.

She lets out a disappointed sigh before looking me in the eyes and saying, "Because he needs someone that he can trust to be his friend and since you aren't even remotely close to anyone, I think it'd be a pretty good matchup you two together."

I frown at her in confusion, now causing her to take another deep breath to continue.

"And you need to do something to make up for those sweet little profanity comments you said beneath your breath about me that I happened to have of heard. Unless of course you want me to take this up to affect your grades?" She wonders with serious eye contact. I shake my head as a no which causes her to smile.

She grips my shoulder gently while remaining with her tone as a whisper, "I'm not asking much of you Harry. If anything, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. Just this once will you be nice? I promise you he's a good kid, he won't be of any trouble to you."

I put my head down to face the ground for a short moment, now turning my gaze to look her back in the eyes with the nod of my head. She smiles happily now letting go off my shoulder.

"Thank you Harry. I know this is a hard thing for you to do, but I could really use your help and it would mean the absolute world to me if you could just support me and him for this short amount of time." I give her an assuring smile which makes her smile brighten even more as she now leaves to go help a kid that has their hand up.

I look to the back of the classroom where I see Xavier sitting all by himself with a textbook opened up while he's scratching a pencil at his head furiously, trying to figure out the question.

A smirk pulls at my lips as I head on over to him to help him out with whatever it is that he's struggling with.

I wonder if I hurt his feelings earlier..?
