Chapter 7

After yesterday World's Edge won't look the same again. Things for the Apex games has been gradually building up for something the legends can't foresee. From the shadows and in plain sight new plans are shifting for the games unlike anyone has ever seen. Is all just for the fame and holy or something far more greater? Stay tune to find out!

The TV ad finishes as all the legends waiting in the drop ship stand around in silence ready to drop.

"Interesting…" Mirage cuts the silence.

Wraith's face is emotionless as the rest of the legends talk amongst themselves around the drop. Her body weighted on the platform with her head down. The banners for squads are selected for her and the others. Wraith is squad up with Pathfinder and Mirage. As the two legends move over to her side of the platform Pathfinder shows some concern to Wraith as he places his robotic hand on her head, patting it. Wraith shifts her weight away from Path and as she looks up at him with a questionable expression, but his computer screen shows a happy emote. With his other hand he gives her a thumbs up.

"Don't worry, Wraith. This is going to be fun!" Wraith couldn't help but look away from him, hiding her face. She had a lot of mix emotions running through her head. Part of her wanted to smile back at him like she normally would, but she also wanted to run away and cry in frustration. Pathfinder gave her a confused expression on his computer as he titled his head towards her wondering if what he did was bad. Suddenly Mirage cuts between the two waving Pathfinders hand away from Wraith's.

"She just needs to be l-." Mirage says, but Wraith doesn't let him finish.

"You don't speak for me, Elliot. You don't know the first thing about what I need. "

Just then the countdown begins, and the platforms begin to descend.

"What do you mean? I know that you like to c—" Mirage is cut off by Wraith elbowing him in the stomach which causes him to lose a bit of his balance.

"Shut up. Or I'll make sure I kill you first before anyone else can."

Mirage winces at her comment and scooches away from her closer to Pathfinder now. Pathfinder doesn't seem to notice anything that's going on.

As the team approaches World's Edge they notice the construction that was once Capital City in ruins and everything is on fire.

"Woah. This is going to be wild."

*gun clicks*

Wattson puts up a Triple Take setting it up to choke. Although fighting close range was fun and exciting for her, she's learned that keeping a range weapon was a great way to keep people away from her fences. And although her fences were made to be more defensive, she still had a thirst to be more offensive. Wattson had already surveyed and looted the entire location of the Dome and was impatiently waited for her squad mates to finish already. While waiting she looked for enemies from far away, but it was kind of hard without a scope for her gun, but even though she didn't have a scope for her sniper she could still spot a squad all the way in Sorting. A man flying about a few stories in the air over a building, Wattson knew the man had to be Octane. She tried to wait for a good moment to shoot but couldn't get a clear shot. He was moving too fast and he had to be over 300 meters away. Just as soon as her grunted in annoyance she hears something drop next to her. It was a 4x - 10x Digital Sniper Threat. To her surprise it was Bloodhound who was standing right next to her who had dropped the attachment.

"If you wait for the perfect moment you will be waiting forever" Bloodhound finally spoke then scans the front of the area of them. "The area is clear."

"Good. Let's move to the next circle." Bangalore said. "Here ya go, Wattson." She handed her an extended snipermag.

"Thank you."

"You sure you looted this whole place?" Bangalore asked Wattson with a slight smirk on her face. Wattson blushed in embarrassment.

"Intuition tells me the final circle will be at Harvester."

"How can you know something like that? It's only the first ring right now." Wattson asked Bloodhound, but they just shrugged in response. Bangalore leds the team to Sorting as the first ring starts to move.

"WOHOO!" Octane shouts at the top of his lungs.

"We have a new kill leader" AI announces.

"That's right baby!"

Caustic rolls his eyes at Octane. "If it were the fact we had to be on the same squad, I would kill you right now for your unnecessary obnoxious voice."

"Whatever you say, güey"

"Shut up both of you." Cypto interjects "Hack is detecting another squad in the area"

*BANG*

Hack is shot down. Octane stumbles back looking for the shooter.

"What the f-!?"

*BANG*

Octane is taken down by another following shot.

"Got him." Wattson says with a mischievous smile. Crypto falls back with Caustic in the room below. Bangalore moves forward with Bloodhound whom was already on their way towards the other squad. They scan detecting that Caustic and Cypto were inside on the bottom bigger building at sorting. Wattson follows behind Bang as she reloads her triple take. As they reach the end of the building she begins to fence the two double doors.

"There's traps. Watch out." Bang calls out just as soon as Bloodhound scans again, locating the gas traps in the room. On the other side of the door Wattson can see Octane crawling on the floor outside trying to get inside the room with Crypto and Caustic.

Loud footsteps approach the building.

*phase noise* *rift opens*

Wattson thought of Wraith immediately and then felt excited and terrified at the same time.

Before Crypto could rez Octane Pathfinder and Wraith were standing right outside of the other side of the door in front of them.

"Hello Friends!" Pathfinder waves looking at Crypto from the side then starts to breakdown the door.

"Be careful Path. There's traps." Wraith proclaims, but it's too late. The robot already set off a trap and gets stunned from the gas. Mirage sends in a decoy in which Caustic and Crypto both shoot at. Smoke fills the room from the inside.

"AllFather give me sight!" Bloodhound heavy breathing can be heard immediately as they charge into the room followed by Wattson and Bangalore. Bang takes offensive as she fires at Crypto and Caustic while smoking them out at the same time making it hard to them to see her and the squad. Wraith, Pathfinder, and Mirage also find it difficult to see inside as well. In corner Octane remains downed, now crawling outside. Wattson sees this and walks over to him, as she approaches, she looks downed at him.

"You surprise me every day, chica." Octane struggles to say. It was weird. He was proud of her, but at the same time was kind of fearful the distant look in her eye. He couldn't tell if she was in the Apex games just to make her Papa proud or maybe she did find satisfaction in the blood sport. Wattson cutely shrugs then proceeds to finish him off.

"The Kill Leader has been eliminated"

"How long is this smoke going to last?!" Wraith impatiently asks. Normally she would've rushed in there even with the smoke, but seeing as two other squads were in there, probably wasn't a great idea right now, but she still had her gun aimed at the door. Mirage was already flaking above to get to the other side. She wasn't going to wait anymore. Wraith throws a couple of grenades in the room then as soon as they go off she phases in the room right outside the other door, blocking Mirage from getting through.

Mirage admiring the beautiful petite woman standing in front of him now. "Lady's first."

Wraith doesn't react to Mirage's comment. She instantly sees Bangalore in front of her and fires. Wattson breaches the door behind Mirage and Wraith and shoots Mirage down. Wraith instictly moves out of the way, then phases. Bloodhound on Caustic downs him and then Crypto.

"You have fought well. It-"

*bang*

Bloodhound is shot down by a peacekeeper in the head.

"There is a new Kill Leader"

"Woo hoo! I am the new kill leader!" Pathfinder proudly exclaims.

The game stood at a 2v1. It was just Pathfinder and Wraith against Wattson. The happiness from Pathfinder suddenly stops as Wattsons shoots at him. The room is too small to grabble away, but he manages to dodge a few bullets. Wraith jumps down from the roof and hugs the wall behind her, trying to angle herself to see where Pathfinder was getting shot from. Wattson from the other side of the room also takes cover, but doesn't see Wraith immediately. Wraith had only a limited amount of ammo left. Just then Wattson peaked her head to see where Path might be angling from. It was Wraith's moment to shoot and she took it.

"Sorry, Nat."

"YOU ARE THE CHAMPIONS"

-Later on the ship—

Wraith just got out of the shower in a towel wrapped around her body and her hair still damped. Leaning over the bathroom counter she wiped some of the fog from the mirror and stared at herself. She inhaled deeply.

"What's the point?" Wraith asked herself staring at her reflection. She knew there wasn't turning back time right now or ever. It doesn't matter how many dimensions or realities of herself there were. This was it. This was hers. And she still didn't have any answers to really…anything. She exhaled outloud. And there was a certain robot she couldn't get out of her head. She didn't know why. Why should she care? Wraith walked out of the bathroom still in her towel she walked over to her dresser, but before she opened a drawl she happen to lay her eyes on an old photo of her, Wattson, and Pathfinder. Her hair was still growing out from being bald. Much time as past since then and she still didn't think those two idiots were going to end up being so close to her. Pathfinder and Wattson always brought out the best in her. She'd do anything for them now. And now those memories seem like they're fading away because one of her closest friends can't even remember who she is or how much he means to her.

"This isn't it, Path." Rene whispered to herself.

"Rene!?" A sudden call for her name nearly scared Wraith to death. It was Wattson outside her door. Wraith hadn't forgotten that she was naked underneath the towel as she clutched it for dear life.

"Nat!? What the-?!"

"It's important! Pathfinder is gone."

Instantly Wraith felt her body weight shift with a sudden strange force.

"What do you mean he's gone?!" She shouted grabbing her clothes from the floor.
