Chapter 19
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"
That was the sound I woke to.
I rushed out of the room and towards the sound. There I found him.
Gene was hunched over on the ground, holding his stomach in pain as the crew laughed aloud. "Strong? He's not strong! Look at all the blood coming out of him! All I did was stab him with this!"
He held in his hand the injector Gene had been using, and the canister was empty.
"GENE!"
I tried to make my way closer, but then caught a look from him. There came a glare in his eyes, Gene… wanted me to back off!
I paused and merely hung back as he slowly got to his feet. It was then, I could feel it coursing through him.
My power.
Gene stood, yet as he did, his body began to swell and change. His arms grew out, his chest and legs. He tossed away his glasses as the wound on his stomach healed over instantly. His glare then came upon the crew who attacked him. "I no longer wish to wait for the rest of the time to pass… Lord Boros, allow me to prove my worth!" he announced.
The crew was rendered silent on the matter. They didn't expect this, nor was I. However, I saw the look of determination in his eyes and agreed. "Very well, we will find a suitable…"
"It will be me,
Me alone
This is good
Show the human his weakness
Break the human!"
I should have known one of them would volunteer.
The crew was getting excited to the idea of a battle occurring. However it will not be done in the halls. "We have prepared a room for such an event. If you wish to watch go to the outside of it. Gene, Melzargard. Make your preparations!" I ordered.
The crew disbanded, Gene excused himself to alter his clothing. He is quite skilled at that too if I do say so. He managed to get some materials to make some battle suit of his. It wasn't much to be honest, but I don't think he is going to have to worry about this too much.

The crew gathered around, calling for blood. They were already deciding how they would consume him when the battle ends. They fail to see that this is already over.
Melzargard was the first to enter our little battle arena. Gene came in the opposite end.
I was able to watch everything from within, however called for order. "Let it be known here and now, should Gene be victorious, you will acknowledge him as I have, there will be no more attacks upon fellow crew members! Understood!" I demanded.
They agreed, but they appeared to think my words were only for show.
I turned to the two. "Battle… commence!"
It was like a blink of an eye.
Gene used his new telepathic powers and forced Melzargard to the wall in an instant. However, leaving behind the glass beads he uses to regenerate.
The room fell silent. Gene took all the glass balls into his hands. He smirked to Melzargard. "I got you by the balls now," he said and toyed crushing them.
"NO!" Melzargard shouted.
Despite his toying with these beads, I had to smirk. I have never seen a General so terrified before. His life is literally in his hands! Gene peered over the odd spheres before he tossed them to me. "Lord Boros, do as you see fit with him. I do not have the right to take his life, for I do not command this ship nor its crew." He said aloud.
It rendered the room oddly quiet, they whispered to each other wondering why he did such a thing. I tossed the spheres back to Melzargard who quickly took them back into its body. I decided to add a little insult to injury to the fallen General. "From this moment on, you answer to Gene as you do to me. Understood?" I demanded.
He nodded his heads.
"Yes
We obey
We listen to Lord Boros
Human got lucky…"
Gene was nearly out of the room when he heard those words, he turned back around and said. "Lord Boros, if I may?"
I gladly gave my blessing to him.
"Rise General, for he wishes to challenge you again. However, he will not be going after your life force."
A sick grin returned to the face of the general.
"Human got lucky
Luck will run out
I won't be fooled again
Not again
This is good."
"HOWEVER!" I called. "The moment the victor is decided… there will be no argument, correct?"
"I will acknowledge the human
I will enforce my Lord's order to the letter
But that won't happen
Not at all
Human is as good as dead!"
I turned to Gene who merely nodded his head.
Stepping back, I allowed the fight to happen once more. "Warriors… FIGHT!"
This time Melzargard went for the strike first, yet as he was within range, Gene vanished!
The room fell silent as he appeared behind the general. "Missed," he said in an unimpressed tone.
He spent an hour toying with him, Gene never broke a sweat, and at the same time he was showing off what he can do. He is able to grip to walls, he can move as fast as me, and without telepathic powers, he did indeed make Melzargard explode from a single strike!
I continued to let it happen. Until I figured enough was enough. Melzargard was getting to the point he would tear the ship apart! I looked to Gene and gave the nod. He took a stance and then suddenly unleashed his true power. The room began to whip up from the aura he emitted, much to my surprise though, the moment the general felt it, he went on his knee. "I yield"
This in fact surprised me greatly.
Gene settled himself down. "Why did you yield?" he asked.
"Power too great
Just like the Lord's
Lord Boros, emitted the same strength
Cannot win
The loss is mine"
Ah, so it did take huh?
Gene approached Melzargard. His hand extended to him. "May we both serve Lord Boros well." He said in a dignified tone.
Despite his offer, Melzargard didn't accept his hand. He stood on his own and left shortly after. Defeat is a bitter pill to swallow, I can only hope the generals of this ship and the crew for that matter understand that one can learn and become stronger through loss…
